I think you should be able to sync with your phone and then upload data at a later date. Let us store data locally so that an internet connection is not required to see current stats.
Another vote for being able to sync to the phone app over Bluetooth when I don't have access to the Internet. I don't need all the community features while I'm on a cruise ship for example, I just want to know what I've done for the day.
Briefly, I hope fitbit listens and allows sync and track without internet. I have an issue where even though my PC has internet, I sit inside a VPN and fitbit cannot handle that. No setting for a proxy or anything.
Please remove the requirement for internet for simple viewing of my data!!
i have an iwown 5+, it works but not as accurate as my flex2. Sleeptracking is better in the flex2 as is movement although i haven't use the iwown in a while.
When traveling through different time zones, and especially at airports, it would be useful to be able to do a local, "quick sync" of just the time and alarms while offline from the internet, with both Wifi and cell data off or inaccessible. It was a surprise to find that I could not set my time without an internet connection.
I found that within the settings of iOS I could change the time manually, by setting the time zone, but then it could not change it on the FitBit Charge.
Alarm settings while offline could be useful while outdoors in remote areas.
I live in the Ukraine but travel around frequently like European cruise ship engine officer. I don't have data roaming enabled when abroad, so my phone will not connect to the internet until I pick up a wifi connection.
The bluetooth is working fine (e.g. steps sync ok) but the time on the Blaze will not change when I change time zones. I have set all the options to auto time zone in the account part of the app, and in the Fitbit website, but the Blaze refuses to recognise the time on my phone until internet connectivity is available. Even if I go into the app on my phone and manually set the time zone to my location, it still refuses to change the time on the Blaze!
The bluetooth is working fine and steps sync ok to the app so I really do not understand why the time is not automatically corrected through the bluetooth. And the last time after reinstallation Fitbit app. on my Android phone I can not login there at all. Because it show: "Incorrect data or time on the phone. Please check time settings". But in my web profile the time zone of my country is already adjusted correct.
The designers placed more importance of maintaining your profile in their "cloud" storage FIRST than the needs of the user. They think its better that their "cloud" data representing your device is updated FIRST to match everything on the device. So they update your cloud device profile, then later use the updated cloud profile data to change the device to match. All they need do is reverse that choice of update, FIRST change the device, that is the "prime directive", then use that device data to attempt to sync your web profile...if the web profile cannot be accessed FOR ANY REASON, just continue and sync it at some later time, leve the device exactly as the user wanted it set. If someone wants the time to differ from the internet time signal used, let them change it, who cares? Or date or anything on the device. When the next good sync happens it can ask the user which data to take as "fact", the device? or the cloud profile, and act accordingly.
All they need consider is what harm will occur if your device time, timezone, wakeups/alerts, units of measure....whatever... is out of sync for a while. The answer of course is "no harm will occur".
Entitlement... such a potentially destructive emotion.
But programmers and designers work in a finite black and white world where they are all powerful. They get these whacky ideas and then are committed to perpetuate them. They would be embarrassed if someone asks them to change their opinion.
What SHOULD happen is a manager should grab the designer's phone, change the time by 15 minutes, invoke metric units, set a 3 am wakeup alarm, disable cellular data and wifi on the designer's cell phone and make him go for a walk.... with his last paycheck.

@Serg_56 Well you are out of luck. Since you can't sync without internet connection the time won't adjust, even though the bluetooth is working. If it's important to you, you'll need to find something that works even without an internet connection. I recently tried the iWOWNfit HR i6 but after two days it went back. I have an LG phone. I got it on Friday and set it up. On Saturday mid-day it read 8000 steps. An hour later it was back to 50! Same thing happened on Sunday. Packed it up and sending it back. I've got a GearFit 2 coming now. More $$ but tired of messing around. Either this will work or I'm stuck with my Zip. Certainly not spending more on a different FitBit that has the same connection problems. Good Luck
why do we have to have a live internet connection to see todays data?
Fitbit: create an app that can store data on your phone/tablet/PC and let you view it without the need for internet. I know everyone has constant internet access (sarcasm), but really they do not always have it. It is unreasonable that I cannot even check the charge on my device without internet.
I don't believe location turned on your phone/tablet should be necessary either. My phone having its location turned on has nothing to do with bluetooth being able to establish a connection between phone and tracker.
Well I triggered Fitbrexit today. I have been using my Veryfit ID107HR (on eBay for $23.72 Australian) for over a month now and it works perfectly as a reliable and flexible alarm clock. Because it has a simple display, you can actually see when the next alarm is set without having to go to your phone and connect up. I does a whole lot of exercise monitoring too, but since I don't monitor that, I cannot comment on that part of this fitness band.
I understand that having the data "in the cloud" may be useful (integration with web site and other allowed apps/sites). But you don't always have access. Like I said, it is annoying that I cannot see a single piece of data without internet access..I'm looking at a tracker for a whopping $17 on amazon that uses internet, but also has a display of the latest data on the device.. a similar one from fitbit is 6-10 times the price..
I'd be very happy with my fitbit if I could see the data on my android tablet no matter whether I was "connected" or not (no wifi->internet needed)
I also agree location has nothing to do with it either..
What's next? To sync or see your data you have to tweet or post to facebook ;^
Just as an aside.. try finding a fitness tracker that doesn't require internet but instead stores on your PC/Tablet/phone.. There isn't any that I can find that doesn't require you to store the data in the cloud.
I get it that technologically this is best since they can guarantee you don't loose data and it allows them to give you a terrific way to view the data, but it should be in addition to local storage not 100% required to see anything
Can someone from Fitbit please respond to reassure these customers that this community site isn't just a way for customer service to fob people off? Users believe they are helping to improve the product when in fact they are just being ignored.
