Allow us to choose between "Active minutes" or "Active zone minutes"

Please include a data field for real time active minutes, an essential metric you took away to replace with Active Zone Minutes or be able to choose which I want to see. I had to return my Charge 4 because it was missing this info. I just need a field that tells me how many total real minutes in a day I spent in active heart range. I cannot use active zone minutes in the same way.

I have NEVER posted a comment. I have to today. I am seriously thinking of going back to my charge 3 and researching fir a better brand. My new charge 5 has active zone minutes. I have many illnesses which mean I struggle to get zone minutes. I do like to know when I have been active however. Active minutes worked for me. In addition WHY did I get fat burn at 88bpm and now have to get to 111bpm???? My resting heart rate hasnt changed drastically. My calories burned seem lower as well.
Bring back active minutes. Am i going to have to manually change my heart rate zones??? No, I will sell my charge 5, use my charge 3 until I change brand.

"For more intense workouts, such as spinning, interval training, or running, the number of Active Zone Minutes you earn might exceed the length of your workout."

WTAF? I want to know minutes, not some made up time. If it's not actually minutes spent in a zone then don't call it minutes. Apparently two walks today totalling 73 minutes which with a Charge 3 were split between fat burn and cardio zone score ZERO minutes of exercise on a Charge 4. I'm recovering from surgery, I want to monitor duration of perhaps less intense exercise than some people might do and instead it's telling me I've gone from 73 minutes to none just by changing watch. How the heck do you think that makes sense? Here's a clue, it doesn't. Didn't go for the charge 5 because I don't want a colour display and shorter battery life, but thought a charge 4 was a good small update from charge 3. 10 minutes after putting it on I'm regretting the purchase and it's probably going back.

Yes, it's unfortunate that fitbit cannot have empathy for anyone that does not fit in their model of how people should track their activity.

But hey, I apparently score 10 minutes of cardio just by going to the fridge and walking up stairs once. Which is complete nonsense. Active minutes was never triggered just by walking from one room to another, and rightly so. Exercise is supposed to be sustained for ten minutes not made up of a few seconds here and there. Some people might like this and find it useful, for anyone else there should be a way to switch back or even have both calculations available.

Katie.C1990,

"there is a clock face called fluid arcs that displays active minutes"

Thank goodness I remembered your post! I had to return my Versa2 which died before it was a year old and they sent me a new one, and I couldn't remember for the life of me the name of this clock face! I had been using my old Alta and it was so easy to reach my active minute goals with that!

Hey Linda I’m glad it works for you too! I was so happy when someone told me about fluid arcs. I can’t live without my active minutes 😉

Agreed that active minutes are an essential metric. It should be brought back

Please make the double active minutes for being in cardio zone OPTIONAL. I do not enjoy having to do the math every time I want to see my active minutes. It would be better for some users to just be able to see total ACTUAL active minutes at a glance.

Except no, @yolanafitbit that’s not what my suggestion was about, and
really shouldn’t have been combined with this thread from what I can tell.
Im totally fine with showing active zone minutes, I just think getting
double minutes for cardio is ridiculous and should be optional. That
feature should have an off setting.

1. Revert Active Zone minutes back to Active Minutes- it is discriminatory against those who can not get a high heart rate and therefore we cannot take part in the bingo
2. IF you are unable to revert back...make it so we can amend the active zone thresholds

The active minutes were great and helped motivate me to stretch out my exercise a little longer. Active zone minutes seem totally meaningless. It seems random whether I get many or few active zone minutes doing the same activity. Times I get the most active zone minutes are when I'm just stressed out, not when I'm working out hard.

PLEASE bring back the option to have active minutes show on the charge 4. I can still see them on the website so I know you are tracking them. This is a big part of the functionality of the device for me.

I've already commented, and was considering sending my charge 4 back. In the end I didn't because (and purely because) of the O2 overnight measurements, which while recovering from pulmonary surgery were interesting. However, these have remained stable and quite honestly the way the charge 4 buzzes with notifications about active minutes when all I've done is walk round the house is just annoying, that's not exercise. It was fitbit instructions themselves that said exercise had to be 10 minutes or more to be worth counting, now it's buzzing away after periods of activity of only a few minutes each. Active minutes notifications are turned off by the way but that doesn't stop it. I've removed them from the app screen as well, I'm just not interested. And yes, kind of lost motivation to keep my my active minutes and haven't worn it for days. At this rate my last Fitbit.

Absolutely agree with everyone.
Why has nothing been done on this yet by fit bit when people have been asking about this change since 2020? I feel like they have set up a 'you ask... we did' but never fulfil the 'we did'.

Come on fit bit...do something about this!

Yesterday I spent several hours driving (sometimes in heavy traffic) and didn't get to do any exercise at all. And I still got 125 zone minutes that day! (my stress management level was at 77). A few days ago when I had done a real strenuous 30 min exercise with 14 minutes cardio and 7 min peak, I only got 86 active zone minutes for that day! (stress management 75).

I simply cannot see the point of lumping together heart rate spikes due to stress or excitement with heart rate spikes due to exercise. Especially as the fitbit actually gives me a better stress management level when my heart rate goes up due to stress than when its due to exercise.   With my Charge2 (bless it) I never got active minutes for driving my car!  And this double-counting of minutes due to stress seems utterly ridiculous.

Please give us back the active minutes!!!

It remains very frustrating that they took the ‘active minutes’ away from us. As you remark, they are tracking these minutes anyway.

--------------

Fitbit should never have removed the option for ‘active minutes’, it is a very helpful health metric for people of all levels of ability.

their ‘active zone’ minutes are a meaningless misinterpretation of the World health organisation guidelines, which, in addition, only apply to fit, healthy people. In fact, had they bothered to read the guidelines, they would have see that it was important to keep the original ‘active minutes’.

But Fitbit don’t listen and don’t care about their customers.

Totally agree! There’s no such thing as customer care at Fitbit - just a feedback platform that is ignored.

I recently lost my inspire2 and won’t be replacing it due to the active minutes issue. This product is not designed to meet the needs and requests of the purchasers.
