Ankle mode

Please make one u wear on ankle then u would get all the steps. When u are in a store with carts such as grocery, target etc it won't record all the walking one is doing with a cart. I have to try and push with one hand!! They can have pretty but functionally ankle devices some can be practically for a guy and pretty like an ankle bracelet for a women!!! Please develop this!! Soon!!

I have the same issue my job, also its dirty environment. So I've been tucking my fitbit in my sock since my large band won't fit my ankle, I' m considering getting a larger band for times I dont wear socks/ have anklet socks on. But I also think its more accurate at my ankle since it counts steps since my arms are not always swinging. I work with my hands at work and home daily, but its usually stationary. I bicycle a lot too. Not sure how accurate this is compared to the pofessionals but I've tested it at work when making a trip to the restroom. From my machine- restroom its 180 steps (ankle), 15? steps (wrist). Not sure if this helps but good luck.

I also wish they made ankle bands. I don't like to wear watches at work and normally just throw it in my pocket, but it's not the most convenient because now one of my pockets is full of watch.

I am in full support for an ankle band. I work in a dealership in the parts department. Tons of walking, but on the downside my hands are mostly always carrying something so I lose steps. I also have 3 kids so holding hands or pushing a stroller is also another downfall as the device only picks up on movement. I understand when people say it might not be as accurate because it is meant for the wrist. I also understand the fitbit is in the loop on this as well. Incorrect. The correct info is that if your hands aren't moving your not tracking. The ankles the most defiantly way to go for tracking as it will pick up on your movement. If your walking your exercising. If your biking, your exercising.

Go to Amazon & & search on Fitbit extender. Have one now, not perfect but totally works for ankle. Maybe $8--9?

Just pit your fitbit inside your sock and it will measure your steps!! Very simple!

I wear my Alta on my ankle. I know it's not as accurate so therefor when you guys finally invent a slim styled fit bit meant to be worn on your ankle that is also waterproof then let me know 🙂 thanks

I connected with an associate looking for a tracker! I’m searching for a 2 piece Fitbit. I think it would be great to have a band that you wear around your ankle to get an accurate step count and then a band that you would wear around your wrist to have the display! I am a busy mom and often carry things around and miss out on a lot of steps. Because of this, on challenge days especially, I safety pin my tracker to my ankle! When it’s there the I miss out on the “watch” I’ve gotten used to wearing the past few years! The associate I spoke with suggested I post here in hopes for a new design idea!!

It would be great if there was a Fitbit that could be worn as an attractive anklet with basic functions..for example steps,stairs, heart rate and with  interchangeable bands

I am amazed that they haven’t done this yet. When you wear the fitbit on your arm it counts your arm movements more than those of your body. If you can design an arm bracelet, surely it’s not that difficult to adapt it for the ankle.

It is incomprehensible to me why Fitbit has been so utterly, endlessly unwilling to make an ankle holder, or just offer XXL size wrist bands for sale that would work for their customers. Their  arguments about the “accuracy” issue is obviously specious given the many customer statements & experience. Despite their numerous claims of customer responsiveness, they simply are NOT. Have been on this board for over a year & absolutely nothing has happened (except Fitbit creating numerous necklaces & bracelets!). Get an extender from Amazon. The rest of the workarounds are really tiresome.

I've been on this thread since the first post.  I've been a Fitbit user  for nearly 4 years. Too bad someone can't say something nice about them. It seems this is the end of your world, that you can't get an ankle band. But if you could, then you'd be complaining that it unsnapped and was lost.  I agree, in certain cases the steps aren't counted, but I thought outside the box, and put it in my pocket. Problem solved.

If you really need it on your ankle, and dont want to spend a lot of money, sew a pocket in your sock, and put the sock on. Ok, before you freak out and say "but Dave,  I don't  wear socks with my flip-flops when walking....." I understand this. Solution: Grab a sweat band (like basketball players wear), adapt it with a pocket to put your tracker i, and there you go. Or, take an old sock, cut the top off, fold and sew a band out of it, then sew in a pocket. Badda-boom....how ya doin'?

I hope you all find this helpful. Cut Fitbit a break. They have you and me in there better interest. And oh!.....its cheaper than an I-Watch. 😄

Dear Dave: thanks for your many ideas & suggestions: sewing tiny pockets on every sock I own (I usually change socks after wearing them), cutting up socks and figuring out how to fashion a Fitbit holder. Others have suggested putting it in your pocket and moving it every time you change your clothes, perhaps sewing additional tiny pockets into everything you sleep in, so the sleep tracker works, etc. etc.
I know it’s an indication of my lack of creativity, my unwillingness to spend a lot of time remembering & moving my Fitbit constantly, not to mention not wanting to figure out how to sew tiny pockets on all my clothes. So be it. That seems like a massive waste of time & energy, when all Fitbit would need to provide is an XXL wristband that would fit around my ankle, waterproof, wearable with everything night & day. I like my Fitbit & enjoy being part of the community, but was told by their customer service to share my frustration in this forum so Fitbit would get information to better serve their customers. While Fitbit has not addressed the many customer requests, I did learn here about the extender available on Amazon, a bit clunky, but a simple solution, so am very grateful for that. Hope that clarifies things....

@Qstreet

My apologies, soI midday be clearer in my post.  No one said sew a pocket into every pair of socks.  It was a suggestion for "A single pair of socks". A single pair as one would wear if out doing a purposeful walk. Or even for the days tracking too. I personally like the idea of an ankle sweatband.

Why would you leave your Fitbit on your ankle at night? I think on your wrist is what is recommender for tracking sleep.

Again, my appologies for my thoughts about thinking outside of the box, and causing you massive waste of time. If you cared so much about logging, you wouldn't be making such dumb excuses that you are making. "An ounce of prevention, is worth a pound of cure". Dont sweat the little things.

Walk on my friend.

Dave

Yes, please! I've been saying this for years. It's uncomfortable to wear items on my wrists and would really appreciate an ankle band. Seems so simple, yet would be such a revolutionary/breakthrough thing to do!

Since Fitbit refuses to create an ankle tracker, I have devised my own. I have taken an ankle bracelet and affixed a Fitbit holder to it. Problem solved. Fitbit is now on my ankle. Accurate step count every day. I have a Fitbit flex.

@evlexus,

Fitbit uses an algorithm based how your Fitbit moves on your wrist to determine not just how many steps you take, but what kind of steps you take.  I imagine part of that is how much your wrists are 'bouncing' as you walk.  If you wear the tracker on your ankle, there's a very good chance that it'll interpret those steps as 'running' steps rather than 'walking' steps.

Fitbit tracks five stats: steps, distance, flights of stairs, caloric burn, and active minutes.  Or in your case (with the Flex), four stats.

If you wear your tracker on your ankle, it's likely misinterpreting what kind of step you take.  This will skew your distance (since there are running and walking stride lengths), your caloric burn, and your active minutes.  Or in other words, by wearing the tracker on your ankle, you're likely rendering 75% (3 of 4) stats unreliable.

Hello,
Sorry folks you asked for an ankle bracelet and I gave you what really works!! When you step any which way your steps are counted by placing the fitbit into the top of your sock!! Easy peasy!!
