Can the firmware and app be updated to have an auto pause feature for when you stop to cross a road or tie a lace during workout and walk and run etc. That would be fab.
Can autopause be added for gps. Very disappointed it's not a feature. As it is on garmin watches. It is needed while cycling when stopping for traffic etc ruins timings.
I noticed today i went for a walk and stopped for a coffee but forgot to pause/stop my exercise so now it says I walked double the time when i wasn't moving! There needs to be a feature that when in walk/run/hike mode if gps sees you have stopped moving it auto pauses you exercise accordingly
Auto-pause functionality in GPS mode (with the fitbit) as well as with iOS app when the activity (running, hiking, biking, walking...etc) has a break & resumed. Unfortunately, in the current versions the brief halt, pause are not recognized & time keeps ticking!
Agree - I posted on this as well. I think it would keep fitbit competitive with athletes who use the GPS feature. If not, athletes will look elsewhere with their next wearable purchase.
Could we create an auto pause option for the Surge for when we using the GPS to track activity? It is a fairly basic feature that my $20 bike speedometer can do. That way we will not have to attempt the dangerous act of trying to mess with our watch when riding in traffic and starting and stopping at stoplights. I would suggest it being something that is done electronically through the website after the entire ride is synced for ease - simply look for stopped time, and delete that time from the overall. The ride or run could then have two time/speed averages. One for total time elapsed, and one for total moving time. This would actually set fitbit above mapmyride or other apps.
Auto pause is really needed!!! So many other products have it standard .... so ahould you. Please consider it ... I see post as old as two years, you'd think it would have been corrected by now.
I found out by accident that my Blaze seems to have some kind of autopause. I just don't know if it is based on GPS or steps or something else. And why it is on. Or how to turn it off or on. Or how long the autopause is in general. Maybe someone from Fitbit could answer and explain...
Just got my surge for Christmas. Loving using it except for the lack of auto pause. I pause my workout and it then times out before I get a chance to restart or I forget to restart... frustrating! My friends have a range of fitness trackers with auto pause so would be great to see in the surge too!

When I run in my neighborhood, many times I have to stop for red lights to cross the street. It would be convenient to have my fitbit blaze gps auto pause my time. I manually pause my time but sometimes I forget to un-pause the time so I don't get an accurate picture of my run.
2 years in and still no progress. Going back to my Garmin. What's the point in customer feedback if no action. There was a thread running on this for the surge well before the blaze and yet fitbit say they hadn't thought of this feature. It's essential if they want to appeal to competitive runners and cyclists and not just couch to 10k audience
