At the moment, logging food via barcode scanning is only supported for the US food database. I would like the option of food scanning for international food databases as well with nutrition facts.
This is a pretty good idea to implement, as the feature of barcode scanning is more practical. So I encourage to keep voting for this idea and make it more popular, it would be nice to have this in a near future.
Unquote.
How long do we have to vote and beg for this I wonder? It seems like its been going on for quite a while already
For how long have people voted in US to have barcode scanning available? Zero, nada. They had it by default. Nobody told non-US buyers they won't have it by default and it would need votes to get it. Why?
My first request is more than 2 years old. This is a closed group, we are writing for eachother instead of informing potential buyers about this little 'glitch'.
If you want to do anything against this, if you find this situation frustrating, annyoing or just somehow not 'whole', come and join Disappointed with Fitbit facebook group. We are few and if you don't join, we will remain few and unheard.
Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion. By way of update, there aren't currently any plans to release this feature. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us and we will let you know if anything changes.
Can you please advise why non-US users are considered beneath FitBit's consideration? This is evidenced by the delayed rejection to this long standing request and the decision to limit the music functionality on the Ionic to Spotify by default.
I personally was looking forward to upgrading to the Ionic, however Fitbit's clear disdain for non-US users has forced me to look elsewhere. Can you recommend an alternative for international users?
Why not make it clear in your marketing that you're not really bothered about customer satisfaction outside the US. It would certainly help people when they decide which product to buy.
Hi @HairyFred, thanks for your reply. I'll be sharing some FAQs soon that will answer some of your questions and provide a bit more insight into decision-making behind Feature Suggestions. They will be in the 'important links' section in the top right of Feature Suggestions. In the meantime, I'll close this discussion for now but keep votes open so we can track community demand over time. Thanks
It would be nice if you guys could add Haitian food in your food database. MyFitnessPal have lots of food options. I know there is an option to add your own food, but it would be a big plus to have these options (Haitian and other cultures) already filled in for users. By the way these restaurants are quite convenient in big cities.
I would like to see more fresh food options in the database. It's depressing how almost everything that comes up is packaged or branded supermarket junk. You cannot, for example, find simple "blueberries" -- as in, the fruit! -- in the Australian menu. It's all frozen, or in a muffin, or whatever. I realize that these lists may reflect user choices perhaps dominated by people wanting to lose weight, as well as may be commercial links, But surely Fitbit should also feature simple healthy food choices as well?
Allow people to add food /drink items to the database by scanning the Barcode and inputing the nutritional information themselves for others to use.
There is a severe lack of food items from outside the US.
I travel alot within Europe and Japan and to be able to add Barcodes from airport foods and general household foods would save alot of hassle instead of using 30 mins to add everything you just bought or made. Nothing in my home in Norway has a registered bar code and it was quite tedious adding everything I'm going to eat today.
Hi @Beki95, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here as it is not currently planned.

Hello, I’ve seen many posts about the UK Barcode reader not being very reliable and I just wanted to getting some confirmation on if is it being worked on? Or are there any plans on joining forces with MyFitnessPal which is very reliable.
Also as a side note from a different feature, will the iPhone be getting a text reply addition as android do?
