Blood pressure Fitbit device with historical tracking

It would be great if Fitbit either created a blood pressure monitor and a glucose monitor that would sync with the dashboard or if they would team up with another company (Omron, diabetic community app) to have their product sync with the dashboard instead of having to manually enter it.

One of the reasons that I bought a fitbit was because the research I did before the purchase made me believe I could manually log BP and Glucose levels in the dashboard so that I could have one app from a "reputable" company for my fittness tracking. I was surprised to see a post on the support boards saying these features were not available unless you activated your account on or before Sept. 2014. I work in the software industry and this decision to "remove features" is a big no-no in my opinion. I will continue to evaluate the product for a few more days and the step tracking feature, but I will likely return it to the store based on what I would consider false advertising. An ETA on adding these features back would also help me with my buyer's remorse. Why were these features removed - PHI or security concern?

I agree that you should add sugars to the breakdown of the food intake.  This is one of the most important factors attributing to many issues in the boday.

Since Fitbit is interested in using sensors and wireless technology to bring amazing experiences to fitness and health, why not develop a Blood Pressure Cuff (Sphygmomanometer) that sends the user's blood pressure reading to the Fitbit Dashboard wirelessly?

Just like the Aria Scale, the BP Cuff would add a very significant and important measurement of the user's health management.

Fitbit would be addressing the graying of America population by developing a Glucometer (blood sugar monitor) AND a Sphygmomanometer (blood pressure cuff) that syncs wirelessly to the dashboard.

I would buy both tomorrow!

I share the opinion that manually logging BP and Glucose levels in the dashboard functionality should be restored, at lest until FitBit develops a BP Cuff and a Glucometer that can sync wirelessly to the Dashboard.

I also agree that the decision to "remove features" is a big no-no, and seldom if ever, a good idea!

Being new to fitbit I was very excited to get started but was very disappointed that I could not track my blood pressure or blood suger with the device; I would love the device or any of your devices have these two options as these are very important to my health and would be great not to have to manually track those two items somewhere else.

Thank you

I agree that logging of BP should be available.  I am evaluating the features of the fitbit dashboard as I'm considering purchasing a Surge.  BP is a very important health measurement for me and being able to monitor my entries in the dashboard with everything else would be great.

There are many diabetics and pre-diabetics who use fitbit to help track their health activities and perhaps THE MOST IMPORTANT aspect for them is Glucose tracking.  The return of the glucose log would be a HUGE improvement in fitbit for these people.

Obviously I vote YES!!!!!

It would be nice to add glucose readings directly into the dashboard set of applications.

Agreed!  Added sugar would be tough to calculate since it's not separated on most nutrition labels, but even tracking total sugar would be a real plus.

Just found out that with my freshly created account doesn't have the BB metric available. And apparantly no explanation has been given? I hope this is not the case and this is just a communication issue. As a pessimist, I'm starting to think that fitbit is not the right company if you're serious about tracking yout vital stats. Calories are important and all, but BB is at a totally different level in importance. **ahem**! If this is true and they dropped BB for cost of development and maintenance Fitbit is just making stuff that sells - no higher level mission to make people actually live long and healthier.

Luckily I only got the Aria so far and not wrist trackers for my family. So if someone is interested in a ~two week old Aria msg me or look it up from ebay shortly. Withings here I come.

This would be nice to see added as well, a tile for the dashboard.

Currently the glucose tracker limits the number of data points to enter per day to 3 (morning, afternoon and evening).

At the beginning and right after a person has their meds changed, more frequent testing may be necessary to avoid issues.

Please add the ability for the tracker to add additional datapoints.  You could use the same naming labels as the food entry (morning, morning snack, afternoon, afternoon snack etc).

This feature as well as the feature to add the glucose tracker and its reports to the mobile app (I've already voted yes on that related request) would help to make this a great all around solution for health tracking.

Thank you,

William

@coderWil You can already add more data points in the glucose section if you subscribe to the Fitbit Premium service.

However: Fitbit has deprecated the glucose, and BP, sections of the log so they may be going away at some point. (New users don't even get them at all.)

@Michael, I guess that adds an extra level of urgency to the request.  DON"T deprecate what is a great tool! Just make it better AND more accessible to your customers.

Not only track glucose at the dashboard level for diabetes but also include tracking of insulin medication dosage. That would make the fitbit a complete diabetes health monitoring system that would include all facets of diabetic health, As a type 1 diabetic for 40+ years, I would be willing to assist with such.

I'm also trying to limit my sugar intake and would really appreciate seeing that category incorporated. With so much diabetes out there, this should be an obvious category to include.

Hi,

I would like to suggest adding a way to measure intake of carbs & sugar grams throughout the day in the Food Log for those that have to montior those things or partake in particualt diets.

Measuring calories has been helpful but trying to monitor my sugar intake has been more challenging.

Thank you!

The pulse sensor provides precise times the maximum sistaliс and diastolic waves in these moments include a vibration sensor (provided that the vibration pulses are directed perpendicular to the skin) and an acceleration sensor to make measurements. These measurements will be proportional to the elasticity of the skin and elasticity of vessels with the current pressure. Making calibration can be discarded as a constant elasticity of the skin.:)

I would love to be able to track sugar consumption along with the other items in the Daily Total log.

The main ones are already there - calories, Fat, sodium etc.  I feel a need for a ADDED SUGAR total; should not include natural sugars like in fruit or milk etc.  This would be very beneficial to anyone that wants to monitor their intake.

I agree, but nobody currently reports "added sugar" on nutrition labels. The FDA is thinking about making that a requirement, but who knows when it would happen. And then every food item in the database would need to be tracked down and updated.

Previous to purchasing the Fitbit Charge, I did research and glucose tracking was the reason I went with the Charge.  I did not read the fine print that users before a certain date were the only ones that were provided this important feature.  Who makes the decision to make the software less attractive to 29 million Americans with diabetes?

I agree with the other commenters - provide the feature, I'd be happy to pay, and ensure it is accessible through our mobile devices.
