Bring back the ability to edit activity information

The latest app upgrade removed the ability to edit activity information (again). This impacts app generated activities & manually added activities. Since dashboard access has also been removed, there is no way to change/update an activity start/end date/time, duration, distance, energy burn, name (standard or custom), & active/impact minutes/zones.

It's very frustrating for the exercise tracking to have stopped working on my Charge 6 earlier in September. Even worse, when I try to add exercise times manually, those additions disappear even after tapping on Save.

My Charge 6 is only 6 months old, and I've had a number of other devices since the Fitbit One, the clip type that also counted stairs.

This issue -- affecting many users -- and not having the web-based Fitbit connection have me considering a new device from a Fitbit competitor.

Please fix the issue!!

I have been a Fitbit user since day one.  I'm on my fourth device - a second Versa 3.  It will be my last Fitbit.  I cannot stand all of the changes, especially the loss of the web access dashboard.  And I certainly won't be going to a Pixel which I suspect Google is trying to force Fitbit users to do by removing so many of the beloved functions of the Fitbit.  I've already not renewed my Premium subscription.  Now, I'm just waiting on the watch to die and deciding what I'll replace it with.  Suggestions are welcome.

Exactly the same here,4 th device if I don’t count the ones they had to replace because they had problems…I had the Ionic too …

Been loyal to a Fitbit all these years but the removing of functions I loved and not upgrading the Sense for a while especially to have more activities is making me start to look elsewhere for my next device .

It is sad, wish they would listen to us ….

PLEASE bring back the ability to edit activity/exercise information on the Fitbit App. I was able to do this for years, then it didn't work at some point after Google took over Fitbit. Then I discovered I was able to save changes on the web site. I was even able to add custom exercise names (i.e. "Abs", "Crunches"). Then the web site edit screen went away and I was able to edit activity names on the phone app for a brief period. Now the phone app isn't saving changes anymore (and my custom exercise names are also gone). When I mow the lawn, it shows up as "Mountain Bike". When I do ab exercises at the gym, or crunches at home, it shows up as "Elliptical". I walk around the gym between sets so my workout shows up as "Walk"; I would like to be able to edit that name to "Weights" or "Weightlifting" as I was able to do for years. All I want is my exercise tracking app to provide an accurate record of my activities. It is even more frustrating that there is an edit pencil, a list of choices and a save button that doesn't work.

What changed and why would you take away these abilities? Why would you keep taking functionality away from users instead of making the features more attractive, or at least keeping your product viable and value added to the consumers who spend their money on your product by at least keeping the existing features/functionality.

Come on Fitbit!

Get with the times.

Please add pickleball to the list of exercises. Everyone else has. Why are you so behind the times?

Also, reinstate the ability to rename the exercises in the app.

Very frustrating.

Next smart watch I purchase may be another brand if Fitbit does get with the times.

This needs to be brought back as plain and simply it reduces the effectiveness of having a fitness tracker. The whole point is to see and track progress. If activities are reported inaccurately, then tracking is unreliable, so what is the point of Fitbit?

Having user input to correct activity is crucial.

Also found yesterday if you used the walk function on the watch as i was tracking my route. If you try to edit it...the keyboard doesn't appear. In this case I changed it to my own category Ramblers Walk. All my own personal categories are now no longer been shown..

This is so frustrating ..all these things worked perfectly with fitbit. Under Google it seems to work for a time.. then they seem to try and fix other things...and undo working existing functionality. Development and testing teams need to sort out their rollout and testing procedures ! Shocking ..

At the moment nothing can be changed. It allows you to change it then doesn't save it.

This may not help most users who are frustrated with disappearing exercise information.

But I use a stationary bike at a gym which gives me time and calories expended. Two days ago, I added that machine information to the app, calling the exercise Aerobics. And that information is still there this afternoon.

I also added time using the weight machines with the category Workout, and that still shows in the app as well.

Hope this helps someone else!!

Adding an activity is flawed. My Fitbit was on charge so it couldn’t track that I’d been out for a walk so I added the activity manually. Later the same day, with my Fitbit now fully charged and back on my wrist, it failed to record my Pilates activity even though i started and stopped the exercise tracker for Pilates around the actual duration of the exercise. My Fitbit also failed to detect  an additional walking activity the same day. I added both activities manually but neither show in my exercise log. I have been a Fitbit user for many years but like others I’m disappointed with the product now and will switch when this one needs replacing

  • Not all exercises are recognised or in the choices available in the app. We used to be able to edit the activity as well as start stop times. Please bring this back

Still using an older Charge 4 which only *sometimes* is able to find the GPS signal because I live in a downtown area. Every time I bike I show having zero miles instead of my actual workout distance, and there are, quite literally, no technical reasons I shouldn't be able to commit a simple database update to edit my distance. Bring back the ability to edit workouts.

I agree completely! It is ridiculous to remove the ability to edit activity, like we already had it so why would you feel the need to take it away again? I am desperately trying to track my volleyball (practices and games) but all it says is “sports” which, I guess is correct, but why not let me change it to Volleyball? How come that we have a million different weight lifting options (“weights”, “weightlifting”, “weight training”, “core training”, “crossfit” etc etc etc) and yet “Volleyball” seems to be impossible? Even skating and ice skating are two different listed excercises? Feels unserious to have so many different options for excercices that I cannot imagine actually track different stats, and yet not have one of the most popular sports in the world as an option? At least in previous app versions I could manually change my workout to reflect the actual workout done, but now that option is gone too…

Only just realised I couldn't change the activity. I want to be able to record horse riding like before, but Fitbit recognises it as walking.

Soooo frustrating that Fitbit/Google can't fix/bring back the ability to do this especially after so many complaints.

I agree!  Get with the current times, Fitbit!

Add Pickleball to the list of exercises and also reinstate the ability to rename exercises.  I shovelled the driveway this morning and it said I went for a bike ride.  This is February, outside in Canada.  I do not go for bike rides outside at this time of year.  Being able to change it to something like walking or hiking or something more appropriate would be a good.  So lets get with it Fitbit!

Thank you.

I love this part of the script “help us develop products and features that we know our community wants to see” as it just shows that Fitbit are still not listening to its users.  My go to is to pretend that when I mow the lawn it is an activity called “Bike” , changed after I removed Elliptical from auto recognised activities, and to the absolute horror of all users I do not wear a helmet though I do have ear protection in place.  And when I walk 20 or so laps in my local swimming pool, after turning on Water Lock on my Inspire 3, for the last couple of weeks it is now a “Walk”.  Can I change these?  Nup as I have to delete the activity, lose all the data associated with the activity, and add it as a new activity.  Thanks Fitbit and their masters Google.
