My wife and I reciently purchaesd a charge hr and a surge. We also have friends that use fitbit. We would like to share all the intimate details with each other but not with our friends. Can a teared system of be implemented to allow my wife and I to see weight and other more personal info while letting friends see our progress.

Even if you could create your own groups and distinguish your privacy settings amongst the groups.

Would be great to get a comment from Fitbit on this matter - this is really a MAJOR short coming in the application - there appears to be much interest in the subject yet there is only silence from Fitbit - disappointing - but there again they could be working in the background and the capability will magically appear soon - some guidance / feedback from Fitbit would be nice!

My wife and I would also greatly appreciate this feature. I'm currently limited to friending people that I'm willing to share all of my data with when I really just want to share it all with one person.

Add my vote - I would love to have more granular control over what data I share with different people.

I completely agree! Just got my fitbit this weekend and couldn't believe that this isn't an option yet. Hope a lot of people will vote this up, it's important and probably not hard to implement. Smiley Happy

This is a very important feature. The only person that my stats would really matter is my wife.

I would like her to see whatever I see in my dashboard.

I think that having the privacy settings available on the app could very useful. A lot of Fitbit friends do not use the computer, so it would be easier to have settings like these on the app.

This would be a very useful feature. It would be great to be able to share all of your food details with your trainer even though you might not want to share that with all of your fiends.

Please, please, please! This doesn't seem like it would take much to develope, and have relatively no affect on any other operation of the Ftibit or site.

Definitely a great idea, to have "layers" of friends. E.g., maybe I want to share everything with my spouse, and some other subset that is more than my "friends" list with close friends or certain family members, while the "general" friend list can include acquaintances that can see more than "public" but not much more.

You should be able to share information with a subset of your friends.  For example, I should be able to share my weight information tracked with an Aria scale with my wife; but not everyone else.

Hey, thank you for sharing your idea, however I think this is not necessary because you can do all this by having your wife as a friend you can share all this information on  your online dashboard.

If you think that's not necessary you clearly didn't understand the problem here.
I want to be fitbit friends with my husband, my coworkers, friends - so I can compete with them and see their progress. But i do NOT want to share the same information with all of them. My husband can see my weight, food, everything but I clearly don't want to share that with my colleagues.

Hey, you can manage your privacy settings already on your online dashboard, however for it to be a little more specific would be cool! Thanks for sharing your great idea!

Clearly the moderators are missing the point here...  If we were OK with sharing ALL of our information with everyone on our 'FRIENDS' list, this wouldn't be a change request.  Currently, it's all or nothing with EVERYONE we're friends with.  My privacy is important, and sharing certain things with coworkers that are on my 'FRIENDS' list with is not something I would like to do.  Because of this lack of privacy control, I can't share the more private details of my training with my husband and kids, who are on my 'FRIENDS' list as well, but should be able to see what I'm eating, what my weight is vs. my target weight, etc.  We need a 'FAMILY' option separate from 'FRIENDS'.  You already have a breakdown of 'FRIENDS', 'ANYONE', and 'YOU'.  Just add a 'FAMILY' option.  Being a software developer myself, I can tell you that this change should NOT be a big deal, and would be a big win for so many people.  While I enjoy the competitions with my friends and coworkers, they should not have access to my more private details, plain and simple.

Moderator, Please be respectful and read the entire comments before replying. We already know that we can change our privacy settings for ALL or NONE of our friends/family.  We are asking for INDIVIDUAL friend/family privacy settings - this is an obvious request if you would read the entire post.  Thank you for your consideration and help!!!

Ditto !  Having one accountability partner could very well make the difference between success and failure. We don't want all our information out there for all our friends to browse for their viewing pleasure. Just ONE specific friend, who we can partner with to hold one another accountable to all our goals. This is a common sense option - please implement ASAP!!!

It will be good to have family option along with Anyone, Friends and You in Privacy Settings.

reason: Showing weight and sleep info to my family members and not to friends.

I wish to share weight and calorie data with a special friend  only and just general information with the other friends. It  appears Fitbit- privacy setting applies equally to all friends.

This could be implemented with/by adding people as family instead of adding people as friends, maybe? That way we can choose who is family (aka who the information should be shared with).

My family would also love this idea! We have elderly family that use a Fitbit and we would like to be able to help keep track of their wellbeing!!

This is a must have feature and I was surprised and disappointed to find that it wasn't available.

This is a must have feature my family would also love this idea! I will extend the feature. It would also be create if you can authorize someone to add entries to the diet protocol.

Example: My wife is cooking and can add the meal to all family members. So everyone has an overview.

"Yes" to a tiered privacy system.

It would be nice to have some custom groups (3-7) that we can put people into, and set the privacy those groups.  That's besides the current all-or-nothing options.

RXZephyr

It would be really nice if you could share your fitbit content (even specific content) with certain people rather than "all friends".  For example, if I had a coach I wanted to share my activities with or a weight loss partner I'd like to share my food journal with - WITHOUT sharing this with ALL my FB friends - it would be really handy.

Maybe there's a third party app/website which allows for this, but I am unaware of it and it would be a fantastic opportunity for something to be built into the dashboard

Yes! I want the ability to allow select friends to share our core stats with each other
