Cyrillic Characters for old Fitbit Trackers

Dear Fitbit,

I have Fitbit Surge and the option for notification works pretty poor as the messages in Cyryllic are not shown as they should be, they are show in squares.

And certain people try to justify arguments with spurious information.

And maybe some people working for Fitbit are pretending to be simple users.

The goal of Fitbit is to drive the company out of the financial crisis by increasing the price and quantity of products they sell. They consider themselves a global company.

If someone comes out with a smartwatch, it has to support different characters besides Latin alphabet. It means Slavic, Greek, Arabic, etc.

Europe and the EU are different things. Russian is the most widely spoken language in Europe by the number of native speakers. Many of them live in the EU or European Economic Area. Cyrillic characters are used by many languages, including Ukrainian, Belarussian, Bulgarian, Serbian, etc.

Knowing what are the official languages of the EU has nothing to do with understanding the market and the user base. Fitbit Ionic is not used for official communication of the EU.

If Fitbit wants to survive in the battle with Apple, Xiaomi, Samsung, LG, etc, is has to release more perfected products on the market. Many people thought that Ionic will be a failure since the beginning. It is a matter of managing the process of bringing excellent products on the market to minimise the risk of such a frustration that the early adopters of Ionic have.

But James Park is a super intelligent person and I think he also believes in Kaizen.

What a poor explanation of the absence of known languages character encoding in Fitbit's products. I wonder if Mr Park knows what his people are spreading around in their forums.

I am not from Russia, I am from Moldova. Moldavian also speak russian it's very difficult to use this clock without Russian language. It will be great if you support russian language or least add Cyrillic notifications.

+1 for Russian language or Cyrillic notifications

Today I got my Fitbit Ionic and was totally confused when I received symbols instead of russian notifications.
Thanks Fitbit for the PERFECT user experience, tomorrow I'll return it to the store.

Guys! Since 2014 myself just like other 100k+ users who loves your devices suggesting you to add support to Cyrillic but so disappointing yet to finding out that new Fitbit Ionic for the price of £299 doesn’t support it!! I really thinking to bring it back now and go for Apple which is only £29 more!! I tend to encourage all my friends in the past to get Fitbit produscta due to they are so good, but this simple option of supporting Cyrillic just drain me out! Even cheap Chinese watches supporting this. Common guys I’m sure u can do it before our comunity start dropping emails to James Park with a lot of complaints...

Hi @VYG and commenters, thanks for your suggestion.

We're always working to streamline our offerings as we introduce new products. Although it has been a very popular product for us, we will soon stop selling Fitbit Surge. If you're looking for a new device, we recommend considering Ionic. Ionic is a motivating timepiece packed with fitness guidance, health insights, music storage, apps, and more. You can learn more about Ionic at https://www.fitbit.com/ionicor compare the Fitbit family of products at https://www.fitbit.com/compare.

Please note that we’ll continue to support Surge from a software standpoint, along with any questions you might have during your use of the product. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit devices you love and help you reach your goals.

I think your suggestion is a good one, so I took the liberty of changing the label and title so that it is applicable to future products and exercise developments.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feedback with us.

So, instead one faulty product we are suggested to buy a new faulty product. How does it solve our problem?

I believe people here are telling product defects not sharing thoughts and feedback. How many people have post their comments for multiple languages support but never received positive answer?

Please enable Unicode support for notifications and contacts. It was a bummer seeing boxes instead of Cyrillic symbols on my Charge2. Haven't seen such a thing for years!

Well, I've used Fitbit Blaze for 1 year. There were positive sides, but I'm very frustrated by

* Total ignore from Fitbit on issue of not being able to display notifications in Cyrillic.

* Band died. No silicone replacements available, they seem to be discontinued, while being proprietary. Only leather ones, for 60 euros. Thank you, but no.

Went for Garmin (Vivoactive 3). No issues there.

Fitbit, I had a choise of going to Fitbit Ionic. But since I had no understanding of did you address Cyrillic issue (and because of I'm really quite angry on total ignore from your side), I didn't consider this purchase at all.

Good luck.

Totaly Agree with you, I was big fan of fitbit, I had the Blaze, Aria Scale, the Cap, and the stainless steel band, which had cost me more than $500. But now I planning to switch to Garmin.

Indeed that's a huge problem - all notifications are just unreadable symbols. Like I'm seeing someone is calling but have no idea who is that.
