Disable negative insights during COVID-19 quaratine

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic a lot of folks aren’t getting the exercise or sleep we need. When we’re being forced to shelter in place or social distance and gyms and outdoor recreational facilities are all closed, it’s really disheartening to see a bright red pop-up reminding us that we’re not getting enough activity.

Honestly the last thing people need is a guilt trip over not meeting their goals and the red insights have ALWAYS been jarring, but now they’re incredibly upsetting. I would absolutely LOVE to get outside and get my steps in, but I’m asthmatic and I live in the epicenter for COVID-19 deaths in the United States so it’s a risk for me to ignore the recommendations to stay home and away from other people. Seeing these bright red callouts is more likely to impact my mental health than anything else.

If Fitbit won’t give us a way to turn off insights can they at least go back to the old appearance and not these angry red messages that the thumbs down button doesn’t actually stop?

But also make it more inclusive for those that are physically limited in general, not just during quarantine. I've had my watch less than a month and I am starting to hate the way it makes me feel. It's like a robot fat shaming me. I bought it mostly to track my sleep and heart rate but also so I'd have a smartwatch again after my previous one was stolen.

The constant failure notice actually sucks, especially if it's a day when your body isn't working correctly. I have neck issues that are causing intense nerve and muscle issues, so being told I need to move around more makes me feel like a failure...even though it's not exactly my choice. More movement = a longer bounce back time. Being reminded of that when I want to check my heart rate or sleep rating is depressing.

Imagine someone with MS or another degenerative disease being given a fitbit for other functions and being told by the watch that you're unhealthy and need to be more active.

@tiffmcdoodle So much love and support headed your way. I suffer from chronic pain, too. Mine is non-relaxing pelvic floor dysfunction stemming from breaking my tailbone several times. I definitely understand how pain in a specific area ends up being more spread out and non-specific the longer you’re dealing with it. I also totally relate to flares knocking all the progress you’ve made off-course. Thank you so much for upvoting my enhancement request. My inbox is open if you ever need a Fitbit buddy that gets it. ❤️

@LizFitbit Are there any updates for this enhancement request? It’s been six months and the negative insights are still bright red and can’t be disabled. I just really want a way to disable these horrible red pop ups.
