Edit Time of Daily Reset of Stats / Add Nightshift

Hi, It would be great if users could change the daily reset of stats to a different hour. We night owls who go sleep late after midnight now have to calculate the differences in our heads and that's not ideal. Thanks!

This is the feature i need. I work overnights and the fitbit app is completely useless (especially the new hourly 250 activity since it can't run 3pm-3am). My reset time needs to be like 8am not midnight.

This would be an amazing feature. My "day" starts around noon and I work a 2pm-11pm shift, but usually don't get to the gym until around 1 or 2am. Having my activities and stats split between two days is a major annoyance and doesn't really give an accurate picture. I really hope Fitbit will make "days" customizable for all of us non-day workers and general night owls.

Signed as well.  I'm usually in bed around 10 or 11AM, and get up around 6pm-7pm.  Would be great if we could adjust this to fit our waking hours, frustrating that we can't.

I third this!!! I am having to go between days and add totals up for my actual day. On activity goals they should let it start the night before and end after midnight so we better know.

For people that work overnights like myself, it's annoying that the fitbit will reset its step counter/calorie counter at midnight despite that time being essentially the middle of my day. If there could be an option to either have a set time that the fitbit resets itself or maybe have it set that when you go to start a sleep cycle, it resets. Another option would be to simply have a feature that says "Reset Fitbit Counters" or something to that idea.

Thanks.

Active nightowl people rarely go to sleep before midnight.

For example, I go to sleep around 2:30am on weekends, so I would like to change my daily reset time to 3am or later.

I also work 7p-7a and am frustrated by the stats resetting at midnight. Due to working this shift as an RN, I have all my clocks set to military time to match my charting, is there a way to set my Fitbit Alta to a 24 hours clock display/military time?

Agreed. Unfortunately people have been complaining since 2013 of this feature. How hard can it be to put an update in like that?!!

You should add a night shift mode for us shift workers, not everyone works a 9-5 job. Being able to adjust sleep times and hourly activities would be a welcomed feature. Just an idea👍🏻

Agreed, the moment this feature is added I will purchase a fitbit!

I agree with Kramz80, but please don't just make it a choice of "Normal" or "Night Shift;" there are many different permutations of one's "active day." Let us choose when the nine-hour period starts and stops.

I vote for this change! #nightshifter

I think you can already adjust the active hours. In the app, the hours for Reminders to Move is adjustable (under Device Settings). Also, sleep seems to be tracked automatically no matter what the time of day. However, I'm not sure if there is a way to change the daily step count to reset at a time other than midnight.

Nurses typically work either 0700 to 1930 or 1900 to 0730.  Other shift workers also work a variant of the same where the shift starts before midnight and ends after.  The existing clock for choosing the hours for the 250+ steps does not work for this.  Is there any way to put in the hours that a person typically is active so it will count.  I realize that it would often spread over 2 days, but the opportunity to choose two time intervals would solve this problem I do believe.

I'm sorry, I was incorrect. It looked like you could specify the start and end times, but the dialog box doesn't let you select OK. My mistake, this is a needed feature. I would think that such a feature could be implemented with a custom daily reset time. For example, a new daily interval could be set to 1000 (instead of 0000), and the active window could then be 2300 to 0730.

So nearly 450 votes on this 3 year old thread about a night shift mode and nothing has been done yet!

Yeah I know. That's why we need to start sending in complaints. When I was first told to check out this thread I laughed when I saw how old the first comments were. This doesn't seem like it would be a hard task, so Fitbit, why don't you care about us over-nighters?

they think there're are not enough nightshift people to support the
addition but actually most people these days only work nightshift.
nightshift is and always will be the red-headed step child in all things
unfortunately.

I also need this feature. It's really odd that this has so much request and it seems so simple yet it hasn't been implemented.

It would be nice to at least get a response as to what the status of this request is at the moment. I'd just like to know.

I have a charge HR and I work night shift. I like to use my fitbit as a watch. I would like to be able to set my fitbit to start my count at a different time. I don't like that my steps are cut in half. And if we can fix it can it be made available to older fitbits? I sure don't want to have to buy another one.

Hi, raised this initially via Twitter & was recommended to post here. I and probably some other Fitbit Charge HR users work night shifts, meaning my day begins in the evening when I wake up and ends the following morning when I go to bed. This for me is a permanent arrangement.

I cannot currently find a way to inform the Fitbit IOS application of this when setting goals. It is only apparently aware of "days" that do not span midnight, and will not let me set a time range such as 18:00 to 09:00. I feel it would be useful to do this, to avoid excluding segments of your customer base. Not everybody is a daytime person. Thank you in advance for your thoughts and suggestions.

I work nights and cannot currently set my active hours to run 7p-7a. It makes you start or stop at midnight.
