Edit Time of Daily Reset of Stats / Add Nightshift

Hi, It would be great if users could change the daily reset of stats to a different hour. We night owls who go sleep late after midnight now have to calculate the differences in our heads and that's not ideal. Thanks!

I work nights. Ive heard all the workarounds about changing the time zone but I use mine as a watch also and I want the time to be correct. I wish they would make the stats reset when you sleep or let you choose when to start your day. Make this happen please.

100% need this. Just let us choose when our day resets! How hard can that be to implement?

If I want my day to reset at 1 AM, let me choose 1 AM, if suzy over there wants hers to reset at 4 PM, so be it!

Agreed,... but they've been aware of the problem and receiving complaints about it for years. I felt like I researched the product pretty throroughly before purchasing but didn't anticipate this over site. As a fellow night shifter who sleeps from 11 am - 7 pm, and fits in workouts on either end of those hours... it makes my "daily" data consistently inaccurate and the product mostly useless. I never would've purchased it if I knew this and I find it disheartening that they still haven't offered a solution that legitimately solves the problem without creating additional issues.

Fitbit, you have lost me. I was patient and spent too much money on folks who are just not responsive to customers who have been voicing this for 3+ years.

I'll be switching all my gear to Garmin and putting the Fitbit scale and Surge on Ebay.

Tired of being ignored.

Just found out that Garmin's App offers this feature. Time to go shopping...

Agreed!!
I am a night owl and would love to see all my stats for that day be true to when my day ends without picking an incorrect time zone

The fitbit should be able to reflect a day in my life. I don't like choosing between having my fitbit set for a China time zone or not being able to see correct daily statistics. Multiply by a third of the 10,000 nurses at my hospital and hundreds to housands of hospitals promoting your products, how difficult could it be to add a night shift mode? This is a factor in my upgrade decision.

Could we PLEASE get a night shift function to reset the data at a time other than midnight? Midnight is noon to me. There are "work around" posts with a lot of problems interfacing with the device and the app, there are "just live with it" posts, that's even worse. I just live with the night shift already. My hospital has around 3000 night nurses and promotes your products to staff and patients, we are working on fitbit studies. We nurses love data, but if it doesn't show what I've done in a day, that is a huge demotivator to me. Who is with me here?

I live in Japan, but most of my friends are on the West Coast. If I can accept a "Workweek Hustle" challenge that runs Mon 4 pm to Sat 4pm (my time), why can't the reset time be changed?

It's really discouraging to not meet my daily goal because of an artificial cut off. I missed my 17, 000 goal by only 229 steps! I still did those steps because I was mid-run, but my graph shows it as a miss.

As a night owl, I often find myself between finishing my runs between midnight and 2 am. But this makes me look very inconsistant. Some weeks I'll have 10 K, 27 K, 17K. I didn't do 10K and just stop! I'll do 14,000 steps in one activity after I get home from work, but that stupid midnight splits it into two activities!

My Citizen PEB pedometer was $30 and it resets at 2 am. So it's stats more accurately reflect my activity. I just had to manually imput the data later into my iOS Health as it wasn't built for syncing. Ironically I bought a $142 Charge HR because I wanted accuracy.

And yes I still wear both.

This would apply to all trackers. Previously raised on Twitter and advised to raise a feature request here.

Not everyone works in the day and sleeps at night. I'm a permanent night worker so am in my active zone in the time band of evening to the next morning, sleeping during the day. This skews the statistics and goal setting since my "day" actually traverses the midnight reset.

If the app environment were tuneable to allow customers to select their own waking hours as above, I think this would be useful to more of us.

Thanks for all thoughts.

Same here. I work past midnight and would like to get a wholesome view of my stats based on my acutal work day instead of midnight to midnight. It's pretty useless to track my jogs/calories/food intake when half of them are on the previous day and the remainder are on the next day just because I work through the night. It's bothersome!

I can't stand that this resets at 12 am. I'm almost always up past then (1 or 2 mostly) and what about people that work the overnight shift.... it totally messes up my stats every day:( the thing I like about the fitbit is that I don't have to think as much/takes the math out of calorie counting etc. When it does this I need to pay more attention than necessary...
Just let me decide when steps are done or don't have it reset until it's taken off/sleep is detected? Wouldn't that make sense?

I regularly stay up until 2 a.m. It's better for me to walk at night, especially during heat waves (it was 110 during the day today!). But having to try to squeeze my steps in before midnight when I'm up anyway is frustrating, and it's especially irritating when you're doing a contest like StepBet.

Other apps (like Habitica) offer an option to let you change the reset time. This is the MOST important feature FitBit could add, in my opinion.

I find it odd that this has been requested as far back as 2013, but has not yet been implemented.  Are there really so many places that 'midnight' has been hard-coded in the Fitbit code? Smiley Frustrated

I would also like to throw in my vote to allow for different day/night cycle than 12am. I work varied hours and frequently I do my walks at night. I'm wondering why, if the fitbit can detect sleep, the fitbit doesn't also just reset when it thinks I'm awake. Otherwise, I'd rather just set the day, start and end, myself.

Would be nice to be able to reflect 24 hour period for when you are active instead of just midnight to midnight. My active day runs from 5 PM to 9 AM. All counters reset at midnight.

It does sound like a great idea, my working hours sometimes are from 3pm to 4-6am, and noticed it has all ready been suggested i suggest adding your vote there.

Ok this is frustrating. How many votes do we need to get something changed I see over 500. Why is nothing being done. Changing the time zone is not fixing anything. i still can't set my active hours from 4 pm till 6 am. Please do something about this. Please.

Ok so I have emailed asking questions if their are going to be any changes. And if I am wasting my time waiting. And all I got in response was to make a new comment on this. Well hear it is. This is a wast of my time. I plan to get something else not a fit bit. It suck that I payed for something that dose not work for me. And a company that dose not do anything to help their customers. So for any one out their that is dealing with the same frustration it is a wast of time.

Sorry @rebewals this is not the place to post for answers. Asking Fitbit support about this, as you found out, won't get any answers either, they are not the developers, and as fellow users neither are we.

As for who the "you" who did not answer did you flag thrm?

I have left vote and comment about this subject and that is the best I can do. Why hasn't it been implemented? I don't know, I can think at a few reasons but the would be speculation so I'm not.

My  last comment was not about the time of day reset, I get around this by logging my work time as an event, but about expanding the active hours to 24 hours.

This, this, this! Please, Fitbit! I just got my Alta yesterday and I love this little thing, but I'm a night owl and don't usually go to sleep until 2 or 3 in the morning. This feature really, really need to be implemented for people who stay up late, whether by choice or because of their job.

I'm not a night owl but a night workee, while it would be nice to switch the start of the day, it will not change the fact that there are 24 hours in the day.. So I wake up on one day and go to sleep on another day. It is still 24 hours.
