Enable Celsius units on weather app without having to change distance to kilometers Ionic/Versa

Currently the ionic will only  display Celsius units when the distance unit is in 'kilometres'. It would be great if the ionic weather app displayed Celsius units regardless of the distance unit selected .... E.g, miles .

What does next software update on devices actually mean time wise? Fitbit?

Any danger of fitbit sorting out the Celius thing. My brother  and best friend are both software developers and both have said it's an easy thing to sort in the coding.  CRACK ON FITBIT

Hi,

I've just got a versa and am loving it but one thing I would love to see is the option to choose either Fahrenheit or Celsius regardless of what units are used

For me - I don't understand Fahrenheit but at minute only way to get Celsius on my weather app on versa is to change my units from feet and miles to centimetres and kilometres. I work better with feet and miles.

Can you find a way to give users the choice without changing the way they measure distance please?

Come on Fitbit this request has been around for nearly a year please action it

Totally nonsensical that the manufacturer of a device sold in the U.K. doesn’t know that Celsius is the preferred unit for temperature, and that kilometres isn’t the preferred unit for distance. Was no product testing done before release?

Welcome Brantome, you will soon learn that Fitbit have many failings when it comes to its customers. It seems more interested in bringing out a new product every couple of months than it does in getting the ones it has already sold right.

The temperature issue is just one of many issues that are out there, my other pet hate is the fact that there is no way to lock the device while exercising so you find that after busting a gut on an exercise it hasn't been recorded as your sleeve touched the screen or your wrist pressed a button and turned it off. I spent extra cash to buy a version with a GPS tracker onboard specifically to accurately track exercises and as I cant rely on the sessions being recorded I wasted my money.

Both of these issues should have been easy fixes for a tech company focussed on customer service and the fact they haven't says it all.

If you want to track steps and maybe sleeping patterns then fitbit is good, but if you want a smart watch, or a serious exercise tracker then like me you should probably look elsewhere for your next purchase.

The British tend to measure lengths in feet and inches and the weather in centigrade.

There is a weather app that can show the weather in centigrade in its Android form, but on the Ionic can only display centigrade if the watch is set to measure length in metric.  So the weather app becomes meaningless for people who use centigrade, but do not use metric, and want to see their daily walks in miles and not kilometres.

Hardly a massive change to accommodate this, surely?

Hi @jones1901 thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here. Don't forget to add your vote!

This is so frustrating as a UK user and makes the weather app useless when it is one of the reasons I upgraded from my blaze!!

Can’t believe we’re still waiting for this. Looking forward to when I graduate so so can afford an Apple Watch. Never again fitbit.

I know what you mean, i had a perfectly good Samsung but was told this piece of junk would even warm me of my heart racing, guess what, not supported!

If it wasnt a gift it would have gone a long time ago!

So it's now been 2 months since we were told it would happen with the next watch update...

Any word on when that update might happen? After all you've sat on this bug by for over a year while telling us that it's a "feature request"...

Agreed never another fitbit will spend on a Samsung watch my Garmin was

I sooooo wish I wasn’t bought this piece of 💩as a present as it would have been gone by now, my Samsung watch did so much more for me than this was ever supposed to

As you say how long do we have to wait? It worse than a Microsoft moment

It could be a long wait it doesn't seem they are interested in a feature that many would like to see. I would say it is very poor customer service at the least.

I gave up months ago and got and Android watch but have been following this
out of interest. Vote with your feet I say. I can't say any more than
others have said. We're just repeating ourselves!

I would vote with my feet but unfortunately when you have just spent £200
on it a couple months ago it's not really throw away money. I do know I
will never recommend them and never buy them again. As an IT tech I'm
fairly certain it's not the most complex fix to separate the weather and
distance to 2 separate options it's just lazy

I can't afford it either. The place I bought it (Currys in UK) allow
returns within a year of purchase if there is a "fault". I returned 2
charge 2 hr's before trying the Ionic. The GPS link to the phone wasn't
reliable. That problem was "solved" with the Ionic having a built in GPS
but then I had other issues, including this one.

Totally agree. Not sure how "useful" this forum is in terms of getting a result, we just seem to all be repeating the same thing with no action from Fitbit. The Versa also has a big problem with distance accuracy, gps maps correctly but "calculated" distance is vastly underestimated. Keep being told they're working on it, never had this problem with my surge, but you couldn't get the charger plug to fit reliably!
Poor response from customer service once you've bought the product.

Just got my Versa and stunned that this option isn’t separate. Why do we have to change the Length units to get Celsius?! Come on Fitbit, if you’re going to give us a Weather app then at least make it useful.

It seems such a simple thing to be able to pick and choose which format you want weight, temperature and distance to be considering everywhere uses different formats.  This has been a persistent issue for a while yet it seems it hasn't been acted upon. Any update to the process of this issue?

Come on fitbit. Act on something that your users so clearly want

Agree with everyone else, we most commonly use feet/miles to measure distance, and celsius to measure temp in the UK, so either configuration on the app is no use to us, please consider changing this, as in it's current state I will have to look out the window to determine which jacket to put on before leaving the house...and that's just not on in this day and age lol 🙂
