Flex 3 with heart-rate monitor (and no screen)

The Flex 3 should add HR monitoring, while keeping the form factor (including no screen). The Alta's are nice, but too bulky (and can't be used for swimming).

This community discussion sums it up pretty well:

I like the flex for not having a screen. My job scratches the screens of my old trackers. Would love to see a flex 3, best tracker I ever owned. I have a charge 3 for the weekends but please don't give up on the flex line of trackers.

It's very frustrating that there's no longer a tracker that does not include a watch. I am looking at possibly getting an Apple watch from a friend. However, I am concerned that if my Flex 2 gets lost or broken, I will have limited options for participating in the challenges. The challenges are a primary reason that I use Fitbit over other trackers or just tracking with my phone. Mobile Track isn't as much of an option, as I don't always carry my phone with me, and I'm not sure how well it will work with the Apple Watch.

It feels ridiculous to wear a watch on each wrist, I would rather have a small, discreet tracker like the flex that I can use as a clip or on my wrist, or to have better integration with Apple Health that will allow me to participate in challenges the same way. At the very least, if there was a watch face that showed steps rather than time, it would still be more bulky, but less weird than feeling like I'm wearing a watch and another watch.

I would love to see a screen less Flex 3.  I don't like the looks of any of the fitbit or apple watches, but I like having my steps counted and the vibration when my phone rings (and the phone is not in my pocket).  Waterproof is more important to me than HR.

Fitbit needs another slim waterproof tracker like discontinued flex 2. Not everyone likes bulky fitness trackers, so Fitbit would benefit from having options for us (consumers).

Hi @Rocky2007, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option. I've moved it into a similar suggestion.. As the more votes and comments an idea has the more visibility and momentum it gains. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs.

I finally lost my Flex 2 this week, after years of use the strap had worn so much the clasp was failing.
So now I'm without any activity tracker, looking to buy a new one, and dissapointed at the current Fitbit range!

I don't wear watches, I don't want one, I don't want a big strap that everyone see's. I just want small, subtle and comfortable.
I loved that flex 2 was waterproof, that it would last so long between charges. I was constantly being complemented on how small it was, I would find ways to hide the tiny pebble, even in formal wear so not to lose my step count.

I miss it, Most people want to get more excersise, or make sure they get enough sleep. Phones try, but they don't well for this (especially if you have womens pockets). thats the niche for small activity trackers. But there arent any. Every tracker has gotten bigger overtime.
Im just counting my steps, Im not looking to make a fasion statement.

Hey guys. Just bought my first fitbit and it was quite the effort to find the one i wanted.

For me i dont wear watches and really didnt want a watch/screen style band. Especially with the trade based job i do it will only get in the way.

so a wristband same as the flex 2 i was lucky to find is the perfect compromise.

seems production on this style has ended which is a shame as i would have benefited from the newer features of other fitbits.

i did try on the inspire hr. But despite its extra features it simply was too bulky for my needs and i ended up buying the flex 2 which took half a dozen stores to finally find one available.

I also showed it to friends last night who all had the same opinions in being ok with a wristband but didnt necessarily want the “watch”.

something to think about perhaps in future as not everyone wants a watch on their hands and the lack of hardware would also keep costs down to an entry level that almost anyone could afford.

cheers

@Jamosart Thank you for your suggestion about releasing a product similar to the Fitbit Flex 2.

Please keep a simple Fitbit like the flex 2 in your range. Like everyone else is saying, I don't want a watch face or bulky device, just a simple, discreet wristband for everyday and any occasion wear. I also like that the bit can be removed and easily placed elsewhere in clothing or accessories. I don't need to connect it to gym equipment or need to know my heart rate and just like the features as they are. However, if you do bring out an upgraded version in the same style, that would be fine because others prefer the hr.

I'm wondering how many people are calling it quits on Fitbit once their Flex 2 kicks it. I personally can't find anything in the lineup to replace my aging Fitbit, and there's no way the company will get me to wear a smartwatch or anything with a screen, as I love my regular watches and use the Flex 2 on a band to track and compete with friends.

In light of their seeming disinterest in people, like me, who have no desire for yet another screen, are any more of you also in this boat? I'm already mentally ready to abandon a company that's decided to abandon me.

As for suggestions: release a screen-less band akin to the Flex 2 for those of us who want to reduce the impact of digital goods on our daily lives while retaining the valuable data a tracker can provide alongside a community I like walking with. Also, with a large community of people who appreciate watches, a Flex offers an augmentation of that lifestyle without the absurdity of wearing two watches.

Hi @Paultee  why not use Mobile Track, from Fitbit, which tracks you, without the Fitbit device? Click for more information.

Besides Mobile Track not being accurate to the level of a dedicated tracker, I don't actually carry my phone everywhere I go. Thanks for the suggestion. Ideally, I'd like to see the company support people who just want to track steps in the background without a flashy device trying to pay for things and display texts when a phone already does that more than adequately.

I will to need to replace my flex 2 very soon. How long do I wait to see if fitbit are going to produce the flex 3? If I knew it was coming soon I would wait. The other trackers from fitbit are not what I want. I don't really want to leave fitbit but I can only wait so long . . . . . . . .

Please bring out a Flex 3 or revive the flex 2.  I have a variety of watches I wear and just want a tough step tracker to wear on the other wrist.  I am never going to buy one of your watches so please bring out a new basic tracker.

Thanks

I have both a Charge HR and a Flex 2. The Charge is great if I'm working out and on the weekend,  but for work I prefer to wear my high-end designer brand watch with a Flex 2 on the other hand, and I'm never going to swap that watch for any fitness watch ever! My Flex is on last legs and I'm really hoping that Fitbit will come out with a Flex 3, even if it doesn't exactly fit the old flex bands.  I agree with the other comments that a HR monitor in a future flex would be awesome. Come on Fitbit, give us a Flex 3!

Why can’t we buy a Fitbit flex?????

My husbands Fitbit flex won’t hold its charge after many years.  It would be appropriate to replace it however, there are no wrist trackers that don’t have screens.  My husband has and loves his Apple Watch but doesn’t want to lose his Fitbit history of many years and his ability to be on the family friend “competition”.  But.....he also doesn’t want to be “that person” wearing a screen on each wrist. Please consider either a tracker that is similar to the Fitbit flex or possibly an app for purchase through Apple that would sync with the Fitbit app.  Thank you for your consideration.

Will Fitbit be making another one like the Flex 2. I liked that because it wasn't big and bulky. I already have a watch which is a very nice watch, so I don't want to buy one of your newer ones. I hope I'm not the only one that feels this way about this.

Yep add me to this. I wear a Flex 2 alongside my Tag Heuer which I love and has sentimental value. It has priority on my arm over all else. I'd like to add to he ability to read heart-rate as well as exercise, something obviously the Flex 2 does not. Virtually anything with a screen is out the question. I've no requirement to read anything on the a fitness tracker screen. I'd love:

1: Device with roughly same form factor as Flex 2

2: Ability to read heart rate

3: Ability to send alerts through from device to companion phone app and alert through connected bluetooth earphones.

4: Don't care for inbuilt GPS but GPS coordinates sourced through a mobile phone would be an added bonus.

This has to be a gap in the market. Why the obsessions with screens on Fitness trackers? I've been looking to upgrade the Flex 2 for ages but everything is too bulky.
