Goal weight range versus goal weight

I'd like to see the weight goal presented as a  goal weight range.  My goal weight range is between 180 and 185 (I'm a six foot tall guy).  I don't want to set my goal weight at 185 because I think it will be too easy to forget that my range starts at 180.  So, I set it at 180, but through normal fluctuations for water and other factors, I almost never weigh 180 - though I'm within my acceptable (goal) weight range.  I'd like to see the goal weight presented as a range that can be set by the user (within some reasonable limitation).  Then users could be congratulated on maintaining their weight range, versus this "you've attained your goal weight X number of times!"  Small fluctuations in weight are normal and shouldn't been presented  in a negative light.  If that's already been suggested, I apologize for taking up the forum space.

Also, Healthvault has a weight goal range. Could be candidate for synchronization, as Healthvault weight goal ranges are historical records, so Fitbit could just create a new one in Healthvault during synchronisation when the range changed in your Fitbit account.

Having a goal weight range is a great idea! Thanks for posting!

I have attained my desired weight.  Now I would like to stay within a set percentage or amount of that range.  For example, if I say I'd like to stay within 2% on the 180 pound description above, if I am 3.6 pounds over or under my target, then I am in range (or 1.8 pounds over or under if I set at 1% for a range). So, if the above person set his goal as 182.5 pounds with 1.5% variation, then he is in range if his weigt is between 180.1 and 184.9 pounds.

1.5% variation on his  goal seems reasonable, but for someone that weighs 110 pounds, a 1.5% variation is a narrow target.

I agree that there should be a range available, there can be so much fluxuation in weight,  don't want to feel bad about gaining a pound, and if I lose 2 don't want to eat more calories to get back to target weight.

I agree as well that this is a very needed feature.  I have been in "maintenance" for over a year now and daily fluctuations can be +/- up to 2 lbs regularly.

Please, please fitbit folks, get this implemented. This should be a very easy fix, and nobody has an exact number as a goal weight, everybody has a weight range they want to maintain. Please get this done, this has been irritating me for a long time!

Hi Guys

I think there is a huge need for a rugged fitness tracker

It needs to be waterproof and have a tough shell and glass

A "g-shock style" would be great

Weight as a singular number is unrealistic, seeing as weight is always in flux. A goal weight makes sense for a weight gain or loss program, but doesn't make sense for a maintenance plan. Being able to put weight as a range would be more true to how the body actually functions. In addition, bring back the graphic that represents weight as a ranged scale, with plus or minus a few pounds still fitting inside your goal. The current system essentially 'penalizes' you for being even slightly over or under your goal weight.

Hi @Volk1493, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can learn more about here. Keep adding your suggestions!

It would be great if you could set a weight range goal. Everyone's weight fluctuates to some degree so I can imagine it might be easier for some people to have a weight range goal rather than I specific number.
