Can we have something that reminds the user to wash their hands?

There is the silent alarm that can be set to remind us to take medicine, take the dog out, etc. How would Fitbit know when we needed to wash our hands? I could get the reminder to wash but my hands might not be dirty. Is there a reason you're suggesting this @ConceptToo ?

Washing your hands multiple times a day for 20 seconds each is a recommendation by the World Health Organization against the Corona virus pandemic.

To support that and limit the spread of this virus, Fitbit could:

- Auto detect washing your hands (long enough!) as an exercise type

- give a vibrating notification when the recommended 20 seconds are over

- Remind users by default once an hour to wash their hands

@flst  I can see the benefit of such a thing, but don't see how it could be implemented. So many motions mimic washing of the hands - including making biscuits, so it could wear the battery down buzzing every time it thought a person was washing their hands. The feature that reminds us to move if we haven't walked 250 steps in an hour could work, but not for those people who walk more in an hours. I like the idea, but I just don't know how this could be done.

A litttle help from our health forward tech companies like Fitbit can help reduce the span of our current crisis. I feel that if you can work it into a recognizable motion and add a tracker along with some type of a reminder alarm it may help people remain focused on hygiene.

Maybe some rewards or points system to help get it started. Thank you for listening. Stay healthy!.

The advice for Covid-19 is to regularly wash your hands. A reminder once an hour during waking hours would seem sensible.

Hi @BrianfitCT and commenters, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We’re excited to let you know that this Feature Suggestion has been developed by a third party developer, and can be downloaded from the Fitbit App Gallery available on Fitbit Smartwatches. See the 'Clean cues' clock face which reminds you to wash your hands every hour.

You’ll find the Fitbit App Gallery by selecting your connected Smartwatch in the mobile app, choosing the ‘Apps’ tile and toggling to ‘All Apps’ at the top of the screen. You can then search third party apps by category and choose your favorite of the relevant options available. Happy exploring!

Please note that if you have feedback for the third party app, you can contact the developer directly by opening their app in the Fitbit App Gallery, finding their contact details (if they have shared them publicly) under ‘app details’ or ‘clock face details’.

How do I remove this from my Versa Light?

Deni_b
First Steps

@BBCarillo, I have removed mine as I find it annoying and not necessary (I was taught to wash my hands regularly as a child)

Go to your Fitbit app

Tap on your profile picture

Tap on your device

Scroll down to ‘Health and wellness’ reminders

Scroll down to ‘wash your hands’

Turn it off.

Peace at last 👍😊
