Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

Preparing to pawn this off to some poor lad soon

I just received my first "buzz" vibration to tell me I reached 10,000 steps for the first time.  Nice.  Nicer would be a "buzz" vibration to tell me my pulse was too high.  I just had a triple bypass several weeks ago.  This feature could save a life!

At my urging, my whole family is buying Fitbits.  I reccommend it to everyone.  I love my fitbit. Love us back, please with this invaluable feature.  Thanks for caring about us, not just profits.

This would be a huge asset to every tracker.

However it's a bit disapointing that after over 700 votes for over a year this suggestion is not even "Under considaration".

Hi, being a sporting person and now having problems with my hearth, i'm thinking why the harth rate monitor couldn't be more proactive?
What i mean is that wouldbe great to:
- receive a notify when you reach a peak during a sporting activity, in order to better cool down and begin again.
- receive a notify during the day when hearth rate rise unexpectedly under a certain Bpm of control
- possibility to receive this notification via Sms and sent it also to a second person a a possible alarm

Definitely great feature to add on it, it will be great for runner to keep it in the target hr range, my FD buy another watch due to this feature is missing.

And yet another person who really wants (needs!) this 'buzz on reaching heart rate' feature.

I emailed support today and they said "not a current feature, fitbit meant to be used as a tracker, not as a medical device". This does not sound promising.

Maybe it helps if we turn this into a 'let's all find another product' thread? It's been a year and almost 750 votes (of all the people who managed to actually find the 'feature request' forum).

Does anyone know if there currently are any wristband competitors that DO have this feature (and no chest strap)? Or is there any custom firmware/firmware hack out there that allows for this?

And it seems like such a simple thing to implement.

if heartrate < X || heartrate > Y -> BUZZ

Done.

(and show current HR so you don't have to tap, or even better make continuous display an option. I don't care if I have to charge more often, but please make it my choice).

I wish that we could get an answer from the Fitbit developers as to: "a) We appreciate our customers recommending Fitbit to all their friends so we will offer this (Pulse Too High) firmware upgrade - coming soon to a tracker near you! or b) We already have your money and you don't interest us any more - so go buy another tracker somewhere else from a company that cares." ps Quite a few people that I know are looking at Fitbit and want my recommendation. pps Come on. Have a heart. This feature could save a life. I just had heart surgery. What if it was your Dad or Mom? - Michael Corrigan.

This would be a very helpful feature in keeping hr at certain levels during exercise.

Now that winter is finally here, in the northeast, I'm faced with a new problem.  If I wear the Fitbit, as recommended, 3 inches above the wrist bone, then it is covered by several layers clothing, while I am out running.  How can this be an exercise helping tool, if the only way to use it is to pull back my sleeve and start touching buttings.  Please, Fitbit, give us the HR alarms or at least make HR part of the voice cues, from the app.  It's an HR tool, please make it easier to get to the HR results!

Right on ! I too have this problem checking my pulse running in cold weather. Up in Canada here we have to make instant decisions: a) prevent a heart attack by running slower and getting eaten by a polar bear, or b) run faster and risk a heart attack. A vibration alarm for high pulse would be handy. I hope that the developers are going to help us out here. - Mini Muckluk from Tuktoyaktuk N.W.T.

Agreed.  With angina would love to be able to recieve/set notification/alarm correlating chest pain and heart rate

Agreed. This is why I asked for a monitor for Christmas--want to do heart rate training without a chest band. I know (from reviews) that it seems your monitor isn't yet perfect during heavy exercise, but why not put it forward and let users decide whether it works for them? Make it simple to start--a single buzz every time you move between zones (we ought to be able to tell whether we need to speed up or slow down). It's much better than having to tap the watch face every time I want to check--I'm certain that distraction will make me trip on something one day. It's also hard to check the face in the winter when I'm outside running with thumb hole sleeves pulled down and tucked over my device. I know you have all of the components to add this to the next software upgrade, and it's frustrating that it doesn't exist.

Pls add this feature

I am totally in favor of this idea.

If this could also be available without necessarily being in active mode, would help me a lot.

I use the Charge HR mostly to track my heart rate and to communicate to others when through my autism it becomes impossible to communicate my anxiety.
It would be great, since when anxious or angry it is not a moment for me to look on my phone, that i get notified through a vibration (so i dont have to tap to see my heartrate)
I'm an active person, so a lot of physical work. Not so much interested in fitness results or tracking, purely for mind/body state.

If this is getting through, it would be great if there is just an option to vibrate once (maybe with different strength option) if you pass over a certain heartrate, or to give your own heart rate zone.

Thank you so much, I think this would be easily applicable, and it would add so much more to the Fitbit!

Hello Fitbit developers. When this feature will be implemented?
BigHaole

We're now the #5 ranked request and the #2 ranked request that is not yet "Under Consideration". Come on, Fitbit, this would be a big win if this was implemented in a future update!

Not even under consideration??? What ever manufacturer comes up with a high pulse alarm will win a huge market share away from Fitbit - That's for sure! The next manufacturer that sells one with a high pulse alarm will win my business and recommendations. I hope it's you, Fitbit. I otherwise like your product.

I'm shocked this is not under consideration as well!

Just received my Surge fit bit a Christmas present. I'm looking to set heart rate zone alarms for my fitness plan. How can I monitor my heart rate zones in real time?

I would like to have an alarm go off when my Surge FB monitors a zone is reached while in the exersise mode.

Thanks

You just have to look at the device or your app to see where you are HR wise.

Vibration alerts, along with continuous display of Heart Rate during exercise, is a no brainer. Without these features, the Charge HR only really provides post workout stats (as pushing buttons during workout is just a distraction). These upgrades should be top priority for development in the next software upgrade, in order to make the Charge HR usuful during workouts.
