Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

This would be a feature that would see me buy another Fitbit.

I have a Surge and while it has been useful for a whole host of reasons this would be a feature I would use everyday. I had a Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Dec 2016 and while I understand that my Surge 1 is not a medical device it has definitely has had some usefulness post-event. I was already using it beforehand for fitness monitoring so it was a no-brainer to continue to use it as a tool in my recovery. I understand my device's limitations and use it within them but part of my recovery is fitness - and it is a fitness device. As for accuracy, I continually checked it against medical equipment (including my ICD) during my recovery and ongoing check-ups and have found it to be generally accurate +/- 2 BPM. While arrhythmia is the primary criteria of an ICD, HR is factored into the algorithms and upper and lower HR alarms would allow me to stay within the "safe" zone of my ICD during training and activity.

Currently my Surge 1 is quite literally falling apart and I am in the market for a new device, upper and lower HR alarms are part of the criteria (and around IP68 rating would be great also).

It would be great to stay with Fitbit.

Felt I should comment on this posting as it has many aspects similar to my needs.

I used to run competitively until my lungs were damaged over 30 years ago, I kept up with regular training despite several more attacks and compensated for the increasing lung damage by just pushing myself harder. When I got my Fitbit I realised that it was too hard for my age, at 65 I was reaching 170 bpm, so I started to ease back. What I need is a vibrating alert when I get to 130 bpm so I can slow down, the visual alert is neither large enough or bright enough and during winter often hidden beneath a long sleeve.
Pushing as hard as I have been can have serious side affects, such a high HR can indicate that oxygenation of the blood is dropping, which I've confirmed with an oximeter, this can cause the hearts timing to lose synchronisation.
I still value the benefits of exercise and would be able to continue safely with an alert at a preset level.

To have a heart rate alarm would be a great feature to have , Is there any idea in the future that a software upgrade is available to have this feature on my Blaze ?

This would be good for people who are also trying to decrease stress, my dad has anger issues, and is wanting his smart watch to be waterproof- for swimming

step monitor- for moving and heart issues

Continuous heart rate monitior and alarm- to reduce stress, in work life, jsut so it vibrates like the wake up alarm when he hits a mark bpm. this is useful for both stress monitoring and athletes, to have a hands free idea of your heart rate.

and keeping the smart phone notifcations.

this could be resolved with software, just add the vibration alarm in when the marked bpm gets hit.

I would love to have this BPM alarm , I am my own worst enemy , I do have health issues and having a tough time taking it easy , but if I knew I was getting close to high rates I’d know to slow down and take a break

You don't know how much this can help me.......Please bring this functionality.

I was so hoping Fitbit would have implemented this feature by now, 2 years after I decided to *wait* to purchase a FitBit thinking the next feneration would have fixed the issue. What is so complicated to do that it has not been implemented yet? It's sad that the sleeptracking is good now, but we are being let down by simple stuff that can be fixed on the software side. People with health issues are part of Fitbit's market, and don't need much. But they need this.

Hi all, thanks for this suggestion and comments. This is still under consideration although I don't currently have a timeline for you. Please watch this space for updates.

This isn't the full functionality you're asking for, but please note that Fitbit Ionic does show you progress toward your maximum heart rate on an indicator next to the number of beats per minute, during exercise. You can read more about this in this help article.

Just bought a brand new Charge 2, and had assumed this would be a feature.  I mean, since this device monitors my heart rate constantly, I figured that since it was be capable of pushing notifications for text messages and calendar events (which I don't need as I already own a whole other device to manage those), I couldn't imagine it NOT being capable of pushing simple notifications related to one of it's own primary functions.  This seems like something that should have been included on the first version?

I can only imagine this is seen as a potential issue for legal liability, hence the indefinite delay.  For what it's worth, I'd be glad to agree to an extra waiver/disclaimer to access a feature like this.

So, I guess you can go ahead and add my voice to the dozens of pages of users who have been asking for this since simple feature since 2014.

As I'm a patient with chronic heart decease, I need better insights in my heart rate during the day and during workouts. I can't imagine I'm the only Fitbit user with heart issues that would be interested in that stuff, like;

- More detailed graph, with absolute minimum and maximum heart rate on, for example, an hourly level.

- How fast does your heart rate increase and how long until it comes back after a workout.

- A manual alarm when heart rate goes below a user defined threshold.

In my opinion these values would not only be great for those suffering from a heart condition while also trying to stay healthy, it would give better insights in the condition of your heart for any athlete.

Maybe I'm forgetting some stuff but this is all that comes to mind for now.

Im interested in getting an ionic because I heard that it offers heart rate alarms. See I drive truck for a living and I think I can monitor my sleepiness and set alarms for a heart rate that I find to relate to my fatigue level. Im terribly disapointed to find out its not actually a feature yet?

I have ME/CFS. I'm never supposed to exceed my safe HR. I need a warning.

I love this idea of an alert for a set heart rate limit. I suffer from Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia a condition where my heart rate spikes for no apparent reason. I'm hypersensitive to adrenaline and intolerant to moderate exercise. Recently my heart rate has spiked at 196 bpm whilst sitting at my desk and 170 whilst brushing my teeth. I wear my Fitbit to track my heart rate everyday but sometimes it shocks me how far I've pushed myself without realising. An alert would be great to tell me to stop and try and lower it again.

I have a heart condition and purchased a Fitbit mainly to monitor my HR. Would love to see a feature that alerts me when my HR is elevated and/or an Afib alert.

The above feature will be very usefull for various reasons. For example, my suggestion is the following. Many times, you may have to "pause" your workout because you had to take a phone call, or any other issue. Often, when you pause the work out you may forget to pause your fitbit. Or, if you have paused the fitbit you may forget to activate it when you return to your workout. Hence, often someone might forget to stop the fitbit when finishing the work out. I am sure I am not the only one beeing forgetful. The notification is heart rate zones, would also solve such problems. When resting too long, therefore your heart beat falls, fitbit could vibrate to remind you. Having returned to your workout, with heartbeat increasing while the fitbit is paused, will again notify you of vibrations. Same when you finish your workout and you have forgotten to stop your fitbit. I think this is a very good feature.

I would like to see a warning like a vibration while I'm sleeping IF there is irregular heartbeat etc.

I would like to see this for the Charge 2 as well!  I am a baby boomer who's been dealing with CFS and Fibro for over two decades.  I found a quality CBD Hemp Oil and it's removed enough of the brain fog and severe physical pain to be able to actually integrate fitness and nutrition into my life.  Navigating my way out of the mess that is my body really requires that I be able to know if my BMP is getting too high during exercise to cause a heart attack. Being able to have an alert that my BMP is too high would be invaluable.  Smiley Happy

I strongly agree that this is a needed feature! I have afib and regularly have my heartrate jump to 120+, with little physical side-effects. The major risk of afib is strokes & blood clots. A custom high/low alarm can literally save someones life!.

Please incorporate buzzer alarm feature.  Our family has purchased 5 devices over the past few years. And generally love them.  But not having this HR alarm is potentially sending me looking outside the FB product family.  This has been a request for years now.  Why no progress?  Please add ASAP.

Please add this feature.  It's the only reason I got a fitness wrist device.  Would love a basic vibration on exceeding the recommended max level in the HR zone or blinking on the display.  Many thanks.
