Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

I bought the Charge 2 to help me return to exercise within strict heart rate limitations due to a concussion. I was very disappointed to find this feature missing. As someone who exercises in cold weather with a winter coat and mittens the Fitbit is useless without this feature.

The primary purpose of this device is fitness monitor. Why would there be a feature to notify me when I receive a text but not when I reached my maximum heart rate?

I would love to immerse myself in my workout and not check my Ionic watch every time I want to see if I am in cardio or fat burning zone. I figured this setting/feature would be implemented but I was surprised to find that I couldn't enable it in the settings. Please make this happen!

I should not have to use a 3rd party app to accomplish something that should be standard. The moderator sounds dismissive by suggesting that.

I have dysautonmia, and it would be very nice to have this feature to be able to know when my heart rate is too high.

Several forums discuss wanting a heart rate tracker with alarm for being to high or low. Some suggest a vibration  so others in the gym are not disturbed and others actually prefer the audible alarm. Since I think it would also be a great sleep feature as well as  workout feature, I suggest one which can have the mode adjusted to either audible or vibration.

Yes! I have Orthostatic Intolerance along with some other diagnosis and have been searching for a heart rate monitor that will alert me when I'm past my anaerobic threshold. This would be immeasurably useful for the ME/CFS community who need that feedback. This feature is rarely advertised and I recently got a Charge 2 hoping this feature can be apart of my health, meanwhile, checking it constantly. Hoping for this update!!

My Fitbit now sold and for about half the price I have a garmin chest monitor with alarm on wrist watch which can be set to a heart level (minutes or max) or tell me when I change heart rate bands .  Just what I need.

Johnbarratt60 which Garmin did you buy - I am thinking seriously of ditching my Ionic because of the lack of HR functionality built in.  Regards.

This comment is directed to the Fitbit team.  I can see that nearly 1100 people have commented and over 3800 people have liked this comma city thread.

Does this not show you how many people want Fitbit equipment with full HR functionality - HR zones alerts by sound and sight.  Look at the number of people who have gotten rid of their Fitbit or have not bought Fitbit because of this lack of a function that is available, built in and not third party, from a number of other fitness watches etc.

From what I can see in this forum, the first post was in 2015. I am sorry to say that this indicates to me that there is no real effort being made to look after your customers or customers to be.

I must say that I do love what my Ionic does do, but I hate what it cant do, even after my trialling of an older Garmin during two recent long runs, where the Garmin outs the Ionic to shame, except for the connectivity to the app.

Sorry, but I am looking at anew Garmin.

Regards

Stephen

Hi - it was the Garmin forerunner 35 (£165) with a chest strap HRM (£32) . I picked the cheapest that did the job, and they do.  It's not the most attractive but I just want it to tell me when my heart is being stressed too much.

When I bought my Garmin and chest monitor I hadn't sold my Ionic and went for a run wearing both.  The Garmin had connected to the app, synchronised and uploaded to Strava before the ionic had connected to the Fitbit app.  It was a good decision to swop.

After posting here for a year I've now given up any hope that Fitbit will ever add an HR alert, their falling share price explains why, along with their development of a high end and costly new range. I'm looking for a new monitor from another manufacturer.

The Garmin Forerunner 35 is doing the job I wanted now but I'm getting a much higher HR reading with the Garmin than my Fitbit Charge 2 - like way higher - sometimes up to 40bpm difference. The alarm goes off right at the beginning of my run - before I'm even up to pace. Frustrated again. Not sure which is one the closest to accurate.

The chest strap HRM gives very accurate readings and is one of the best. It's about £35 and talks to the forerunners and all other Garmin devices .

I have a Polar FT7 ... last I used it it was losing transmission ... therefore purchased a new strap and should be here in a few days.  Cant wait to check it out ... I really believe Ionic is under estimating calorie expenditure .... on the other hand ... I am kicking butt and should be dropping weight like a rock ... but I'm not ? ? ? ? Argh! ! ! !

How come garmin and Apple Watch has heart rate alert feature but Fitbits don’t? I could really use this feature. Everybody can.

This will be a great feature.  Sometimes I get so into the exercise and forget to monitor my heart rate. Several times I was doing 18year olds when I am 47 😉 AHA says overdoing can do more harm than good.  So this alert / starts would be very helpful.

Just posting to support this feature. I recently got my first Fitbit a d this is the only feature that if added would make this product perfect for my needs.

I actually was pretty surprised to see it wasn't available since other brands seem to have it as a standard feature nowadays.

When I run, sometimes my heart rate gets too high.  It would be nice to have an alarm to set for this.

I would also like this feature. I use the fitbit to monitor systems of stress, so it would be nice to know when my heart rate is over a certain amount over my normal resting rate.

Glad I checked on the community support before ordering a fitbit. Heart rate notifications are one of the main reasons I'm getting a smart watch. I'll look elsewhere.
