Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

My mother struggles with her heart rate jumping high and dropping low a lot especially when she’s about to have a seizure. It would be very helpful if she could get notifications and so could I when her heart rate goes up too high or goes down too low, so she knows when she needs to sit down somewhere and so I can know if I need to call her or her work or track her phone to make sure she’s okay. She has epilepsy and has been having a lot of seizures lately and I would and so would she to have notifications on her heart rate. To make us both feel better when she goes out some place or is at work. Please consider making this available.

This would be a valuable update to the Fitbit surge. I bought this to use when training and expected this would be standard 😞

Does Fitbit Versa or Fitbit Charge 3 have this feature? (ability to sound or flash an alert when heart rate reaches a set level?)

Thanks

I want this feature as well. It's important for me find a tracker that has a heart rate setting that vibrates at a users choice of low, high or both BPM. My husband needs this type of feature since he had a heart attack and must now keep his heart rate below 130 bpm. I'd prefer not to change my tracker to the Garmin brand, however if that's the only one with this needed feature I'd make the change to have the same brand that he does.

Millions of people around the world suffer from me/cfs. They become very ill if they over exert themselves. It is suggested that suffers try not to exceed their Aerobic Threshold (a heart rate calculated from their age). If they could set a heart rate alert it could save them from becoming ill. (There are devices which do this).

Hi @Mecfs, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has a lot of votes. As the more votes and comments an idea has the more visibility and momentum it gains. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs.

Many thanks. It is estimated that between 17 to 24 million world wide have me/cfs which is a condition for which there is no treatment at present. Any device which helps them cope will be a big seller.

Sounds good but I'll believe it when I see it. There have been people
asking for, begging for, and demanding this capability for several years.
Sadly, many have defected to other brands that support this. Let's see
if/when it happens.

@YojanaFitbit that feature might not quite be the one we need, but it's a start. Can I recommend getting some me/cfs patients involved in developing the feature if it gets prioritised?

As an interim fix, the functionality doesn't even need to go on the device to begin with- I can imagine that might be difficult. Just adding an alert to the phone app when it's open and syncing heart rate would be enough. Tell it to make a noise or vibrate or fire the flash so I can put my phone in my pocket. I don't know what your codebase looks like but it's probably only a couple of days work for a developer if it's well factored.

As @Mecfs says there are really quite a lot of us needing this and awareness of the importance of heart rate control in me/cfs is growing rapidly. You're looking at quite a large market.

@tomcgraves what other brands support the feature? Life is pretty difficult without this.

Apple and Garmin for two that I know of, and I'll bet most of the others do
as well. If the Apple watch worked with Android I would have switched long
ago. There's no excuse for Fitbit to continue to withhold this simple
functionality.

I vote for this feature on the ionic!  Thanks.

Great idea, not sure why it was never included to begin with.

As someone withME/CFS who also really needs to stay within A set heart rate zone to avoid triggering symptoms can't understand why fit it aren't listening to customers still in this issue especilay with many other companies having a similar feature.

I need my fit bit to alert me when go above a set heart rate always used fitbit but looking like have to give up and buy another brand.

Worth noting however if finally listen please make it available without need to select an activity as some of us need it for daily life It just to monitor a fitness activity.

I’m also baffled why this feature is not available. You would think that with the number of sales they could make globally to me/cfs sufferers it would be a no brainier.

As an interim measure, whilst waiting for this feature, I have set up a Customised Zone which tells me retrospectively how long I have spent within 50 to 60 % of my Anaerobic Threshold ( I have a Charge 2).

If the feature dose not come by Xmas I may sadly swap to another make.

I like my Ionic but am considering the switch to Apple or Garmin.  Because this feature is not available, I've steered friends towards other devices that are more useful in keeping you aware of your heartrate zones during a workout.  It was so disappointing to find out this wasn't a feature Fitbit included.....

I would like to suggest a workout feature that alerts you when your heart rate drops below or rises above the desired heart rate zone for the workout. I had this feature on my old Garmin vivosmart HR, and really liked it as it allowed me to modorate the intensity of my workout. The feature is usefull both for running and weights and is a great way of working out.

I don't understand why Fitbit are not responding to customer demand, when people have been asking for years. I bought a Charge 3 because I thought it had HR alerts. I don't understand why an HR alert is not possible, if you are capturing HR data and have zones set. I need a low HR alert so I can sit down. [Yes, I know the Fitbit is not a medical device - it just looks better than the current alternative].

Please add a feature where during a workout you are notified by vibration when your heart rate goes above a configurable level.  This would be a great addition or replacement for the notification we get every 100 calories.

I agree 100%.  I am trying to do low heart rate training, but I have to switch to another app, making the Fitbit nearly useless for that training.  I really would LOVE to have the feature where it vibrates when your heart rate exceeds the level, or falls below the level I chose as being my aerobic zone.  I know that this has been requested for years, and the app exists, so why can't Fitbit add this feature?  I've seen people request it for medical reasons as well.  Thanks for requesting it also.

I had an idea I wanted to introduce. I was going to send it via email, but when I couldn't find an email address I used the live chat. I told the lady I talked to that I wanted to introduce an idea that I thought could make Fitbit better and she told me to post it here. But, when I read the rules bbn I had to agree to, it says not to post ideas here. This doesn't make any sense to me.

Thank you @AlexandraFitbit. When I click the 3 dots edit isn't an option. I was going to delete and repost, but delete isn't an option either.
