Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

Indeed.

When exercising, its important to know what your heartrate is. The Inspire HR measures heartrate pretty well, and logs it, but to get a reading you have to swipe up then try to see the very dim display (often impossible outside). However, the ring around the heart icon does convey what band (Fatburn, Cardio, etc) you are in - if you can read it.

Given that the Inspire HR provides good haptic feedback for many events (goals, texts, calls, appointments, etc) its kind of surprising that it doesnt give you info on heartrate band when it knows you are exercising.

So I guess this is a new feature request:

1) Provide a setting to give periodic info on heartrate band during exercise only.

2) Suggest 2 haptic pulses every 15 secs if you are in Fatburn, 3 if in Cardio, and 4 if in Peak.

Suggestions for better ideas / refinement welcome....

Hi @Gryphon962, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can learn more about here. Please post your other ideas as individual Feature Suggestions by clicking ‘Add New Suggestion’. Keep adding your suggestions!

More complaints about the display on the Fitbit ( across all of them ) NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH OUTDOORS>

Nearly 5 years later and the best Fitbit can do is have a moderator come on and say they are considering one suggestion out of the conglomeration of suggestions. A suggestion that does not even hit at the heart of the majority of this thread. After 5 years some kind of heart rate feedback during exercise should be standard. EASY implementation: when user selects exercise mode, display heart rate consistently on display, OR vibrate/haptic feedback when heart rate reaches and drops out of target exercise zone. But no, their best answer thus far is: buy another device. Well, with this kind of support, I definitely will be, just NOT Fitbit. I've been holding out on my ChargeHR, hoping the next version would implement some sort of capability since that's their claim to fame... But they have not. Instead their suggestion is buy their more expensive models. Well, news for them, there are much less clunky, more feature packed devices at that price point. I won't be buying their products anymore.

It is a "must have" feature. Knowing your heart rate is important for running. I have to constantly keep looking at the watch to know when to slow down. I would definitely rather have a vibration when the heart rate crosses some pre-defined threshold.

Well now that Google has bought FitBit maybe something will be done. I
would still rather have that info verbalized along with miles and pace.
But now since Google appears to have a leg up on quantum computing, I want
my fitbit equipped with that so that I can view all possible realities of
my current run and adjust accordingly.

Put simply:

As a person trying to improve her endurance and strength by training within specific heart rate zones

I need my FitBit to vibrate when my heart rate crosses any of the 5 zone thresholds, either going up or going down

So that I can adjust the intensity of my activity immediately, making my training more effective.

In order to achieve this effectively, I also need to be able to:

> Set my custom max HR

> Set my own min/max for each zone
> Toggle the vibration notification on and off

It's crazy that FitBit hasn't done this yet. You're very far behind the curve when it comes to this type of training and your competitors are blowing you out of the water. I'm actively looking to transition to another brand that does have this because it's crucial for what I want to achieve. Hate to say goodbye to FitBit, but it's important that you know why your customers leave.

It needs to do more than just vibrate. From a vibration, how do u
determine which direction it is going?

Excellent detail for the design team to consider. Could be solved by implementing 2 different vibration patterns.

Still no heart rate zone alerts? Looks like this has been requested for several years now.

It would be so helpful to have an alert if I exceed the maximum which would remind me to back off a little.

I have heart disease and would like my fitbit to notify me when my heart rate goes above a specific predetermined rate, both during exercise and during the rest of life.  Sure I can look myself at any time, but when I am walking 2 dogs on 2 leashes through the snow, or in a cardio class, it's not convenient to stop and look.  I have not found a fit bit product that can do this and will be forced to switch products if I find an affordable competitor that can.

Question: what if your heart rate just goes up, so it's not accurate? So your Fitbit is going off every five minutes, telling you somethings wrong?

Another Question: Would you be able to adjust it?

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking.  I have a pre-determined (by a cardiac exercise physiologist) heart rate that I am recommended not to exceed while I'm working out.  My Fit bit allows me to define heart rate workout zones, but it is unable to alert me when I move from a safe heart rate zone to an unsafe heart rate zone, because I'm busy focusing on my workout and not continually looking at my fitbit to see what my heart rate is.

Oh! But, for other people, would it be an option that you put on? Or a permanent thing?

The rate would need to be individually customizable by the user, and then the alert would probably need an on/off toggle.

Oh, ok I vote for that!

So, the sleep score suggestion, that has been under consideration for a long time, will it happen with this too?

Please remove me from this list.  My Ionic screen died. $300 for a disposible watch.  Fitbits offers a 20% discount to buy another one.  No thanks.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

+1 for alert based on setting min & max heart rates!!!

Question, for Fitbit monitor s, will this be under consideration for as long as the make sleep score optional?

It's probably because I am insufficiently fit, but doing Parkrun, I have to limit myself to a  pace of 6minutes per km, so that I have some hope of keeping my heartrate below the 85% of the 173bpm maximum (I am 47).  I bought a fitbit hoping that in addition to telling me my HR it would warn me if it went too high.

Dragon,
I like you but please learn to use forums. The sleep score, which on NOT
what this forum is on, has been since July (4 months). Heart rate zones has
been going on for FIVE YEARS!

It's starting to sound like you're just trolling. Not a good thing.
