Include seconds in the exercise duration

Along with many, I am very annoyed (to the point that I will not replace my Fitbit when it breaks but will go elsewhere) by the removal of the browser view.

The IOS app only shows a run duration to the nearest minute, whereas the browser view showed to the second. Have you no idea what the basic requirements of a fitness tracker are?

It's not the nearest minute. My 2 km run was recorded at 17 minutes when the heart rate graph recorded time as 17 minutes and 58 seconds. It's not even rounding up. LizzyFitbit, how can you say "If this product feedback receives votes from other customers and gains popularity, it will be shared internally with various teams at Fitbit." Its up to Google to fix this now. Its broken...

Please add seconds back to the exercise details.  Absurd that they were removed.

It is worse that you think. The IOS app used to have minutes and seconds and then they dropped it. There is no reasonable rationale for this.

And on top of that, the pause button is right where I have to swipe on my phone to minimize the app, so I’m accidentally pausing a third of my workouts when I go to open my podcast or music apps.  What’s the point of a fitness tracker that loses a third of one’s workouts?  If the fitness tracking interface isn’t fixed in both regards, I’ll have no choice but to switch to another brand.  As a long time FitBit customer, I’m not happy with the latest update, to say the least.

I’ve been waiting for five months for the seconds to be corrected. They have been dropped not rounded up or down. An 18’ 59” exercise session is recorded as 18’. An 18’ 02” session is also recorded as 18’. Five months ago a moderator said it was under review. Why has it been taking so long? Are Fitbit/Gooogle trying to annoy customers until they to go away? I’m also starting to get that message.

Exercise history is a bit difficult to navigate if you can only go back one day at a time. How about using a calendar to select the item in history you're looking for?

I don't see any comment from Fitbit/Google. Surely this is a product malfunction. It's like using a stopwatch without a seconds hand. Somewhere it's been said on one of these posts that Google dropped the seconds to simplify the report. How about just saying less than 1 hour or greater than 1 hour? That's even simpler.

I can’t believe we are even needing to discuss having seconds on a run tracker app. The app used to show this so Fitbit has regressed in functionality and now we have to ask for it back? It’s basic! Minutes only is pointless.

All of my historic data before the September 2023 update has lost the seconds. Will the data be there if I export the data to one of the custom websites?

I called Fitbit numerous times and so far they have get to fix seconds on running.  It used to be on there until I updated the application on my cellular phone about a month ago.  I don't know why they can't go back to a former version or just fix it.  I explained to them that every second counts when training!  I also want the computer dashboard back and contacted them on this as well.  It's like beating a dead horse. So in the meantime if they could just put the seconds back.

Android users get their exercise times in minutes and seconds.  iPhone users don't.  Why not????  Please fix this injustice.

This is ridiculous. It used to have seconds on the app and then it didn't. This doesn't seem like a bug, but instead an intentional choice.

This is taking too long to resolve. What's up Google?

Please add seconds to the app as this is a basic requirement of a tracker. This is a defect not a new product recommendation. Or, just say your not ever going to do that and I’ll move on to a product that provides at least the basic functionality.

It's pretty clear that Fitbit isn't going to fix this. Looking through the other topics, there are so many "bring back..." requests which suggests to me an active desire from Google to move fitbit users to whatever Google's offering will be.

As fixing such a basic regression hasn't moved for months even to "under consideration" then I'd recommend moving with our wallets to another provider.

Otherwise it's like selling a watch without a minute hand and then saying they might add one if we plead hard enough. It's just nuts.

The 4.25 update for iOS has eliminated the lap pace for each lap on a run and the heart rate graph. Thought there would be seconds in the update. Previous update several months ago eliminated the lap duration (times). It seems there's a downward trend on the fitbit app's capabilities for iOS. Ask the Google store whether the Versa 4 that's on sale will show seconds on the iOS app. Apparently the Android users have had seconds restored on the reports.

I keep checking the latest Fitbit app version on my iPad and it's 4.21 but I downloaded 4.25??? I downloaded 4.25 again and got the heart graphs back and the lap pace back. iPad still reports version as 4.21. I've also counted from the App Store list that my Fitbit app has been updated 26 times in the last 10 months. The reasons stated are "bug fixes and performance improvements". It seems that some downloads aren't successful.

I really can’t believe I’m voting for what should be (and was) a standard feature on the mobile app.

The decision to remove milliseconds was simply an error and not justifiable from any perspective.

Reluctantly, I’m now switching to an Apple Watch

PS Did Anyone have to vote remove to have seconds removed? 😱

As I mentioned in the Versa 4 thread on the same topic, I think this would make a case for a product return under the UK Sales of Goods act? The product is no longer fit for purpose as an exercise tracker.

Please stop treating iPhone users like second class users.  Please bring the seconds back to exercise duration.

There has been several posts about the disappearance of seconds display for timed exercises - as I recall it happened after an app update around version 3.9.
I assume Fitbit/Google is legally on thin ground disabling an essential functionality of a product like this - a fitness smartwatch SHOULD be able to show seconds! Removing it was ABSURD!

The app pre 4.21 did show seconds on every exercise run/walk report. My Versa 2 reports my exercise in hours:minutes:seconds:tenths of seconds. Why have the programmers made the app only report the hours and minutes. Competition is based on those seconds and tenths or hundredths of seconds. What use is the number 0 at the end of an exercise run. That includes the 100 meter to the 400 meter run. World record holders in this class, according to this app, all have a record run of 0. I don't think they would use Fitbit and Google apps.

Still haven't received a reply from the Google Store, even after receiving a ticket for a reply, whether the Versa 4 would have the same problems with the app. I receive emails from the store offering me $70 off Versa 4 as I'm sure you all do too. The reply was "what was your problem?". I restated it and haven't heard back for a couple of months.

The whole thing is bizarre. If this were an error, Fitbit would have rushed out a fix immediately as it's such a basic requirement for a fitness tracker.

Therefore we have to assume it's a (weird) conscious decision that won't be reversed.

Anyhow, I have now bought a Garmin, following a Saturday when I might have had a parkrun pb but my Fitbit app couldn't tell me and I had to wait for the results to be published. I'm considering an MCOL (small claim in the UK) on the grounds that Fitbit intentionally made their product to be no longer fit for purpose - along the lines of Apple's battery management issue that was deemed illegal.

I can’t believe this hasn’t been fixed. Why is Google not fixing this for iPhone users? Please answer this question!
obviously they could.
