Integrate with Apple Watch

The options available for wearing your FitBit with business casual clothing is extremely limited. Please partner with Apple & allow us to use the Apple Watch to track our steps for a premium subscription. I love the APP & currently proudly wear my flex daily, but would really like the option available when the Apple Watch is released.

I've posted on a similar thread, but perhaps not one specifically on this topic, but here goes:

I wore a FitBit for about 6-9 months, and using the data-enriched, competitive nature of the app, I lost nearly 40 lbs in a combination of calorie reduction, and exercise. Visualizing what I ate vs my activity was a strong motivator for me, and was just what I needed to keep going.

The problem is, I already had an Apple Watch. I wore both devices during this time, and it felt like I was wearing shackles, not to mention charging two devices all the time. But, I wanted to compete with friends and I just clicked with the app so there I stayed. This did not last, I had to break the shackles and I had no intention on removing my Apple Watch. Being able to check my messages and pay with a watch far outweighed anything FitBit ever will do for me, even if they came out with a smart watch. No competition at all.

So, I sold my FitBit about 6 months ago, stopped using the app, and my motivation has since suffered. I am trying to use other apps, currently on MyFitnessPal for its close intergration between the two ecosystems, but it is not the same. All I need is my data that my device is already collecting to be nearly organized and displayed, and to have challenges and things I can share with other FitBit app users. I DO NOT need a wearable, I just need my information to work for me as well as FitBit has visalized for me.

Hearing all of the complaints and desires to have an app like this work with their AppleWatch really has me considering continuing my iOS development course and make the **ahem**ed app for myself and charge 4.99. I have a feeling most here would gladly pay that or more to have such a thing, and FitBit needs to realize that there is two markets in play here: the wearables market, and the app market. They are forcing an exclusive relationship and limiting themselves needlessly. You ARE NOT going to prevent anyone from getting an Apple Watch, but you can prevent people from using your services and keep a revenue stream going.

Either case, signed the petition, and going to keep looking elsewhere for a comparable app, which boggles my mind how there hasn't been any that is as pleasantly developed as the FitBit app. A **ahem**ed shame.

Add my vote for this feature request, for whatever good it will do.  I see this was started in 2014 and we still cannot use steps or heart rate info from our Apple Watches with the FitBit app.  I just gave my old FB to my husband when I bought a new Apple Watch. Now he wants to do challenges with me, but since I don't carry my phone everywhere my steps are lower on FB than the actual count on my watch.

Heck.. if you don't want to play with Apple's Healthkit, how about making it where FB can read the steps MyFitnessPal is using to determine how many calories are earned or lost each day?  MFP is able to pull the steps from Apple's Health app, so I don't see why FitBit couldn't if they wanted to.

I agree, have it so that if we do not have a FitBit, and we wish to add a 3rd party device to the app, there is a charge.  I would glady pay to be able to continue using the app.

Hmmm.  Maybe it is already there...  Fun fact: You can add your iPhone as a tracker in the Fitbit app.  It is called MobileTrack.  Fitbit will use the steps reported by your phone in the health app, if you don't have your Fitbit with you or you don't have a Fitbit at all.  If you have an Apple Watch the steps it records should be what the health app on your phone reports and that in turn should be what transfers to Fitbit via MobileTrack.

I use a Fitbit and an Apple Watch. The Fitbit is used overnight & when I'm doing jobs where the Apple Watch may be damaged (it's substantially more costly than the Fitbit). The 2 products completement each other for me, not compete.

Anyway, it's crazy to support iPhone but not Apple Watch! I'm missing out on the all the incentification your app offers with the Fitbit community. I loose challenges dispite bettering everyone else's steps. Also miss out on the other stats like pulse etc.

I'd happily pay a one off fee for a pro version of the app.

Any updates on this highly sought after integration??  While I loved my Blaze I moved to Apple and would love to have app integration with Fitbit again.

Thanks

I will buy also an apple watch. But I still want your app and the alta for fitness. If I can't make challenges with my friends it will be sad.

I like to think they're working, but they're not saying just in case they can't.

Thanks,

Please add Apple watch!  I don't use my FitBit anymore as it died and no longer works...I'm a huge Apple lover!

What do you base that on? Have you heard anything from a source within
Fitbit?

I'm with everyone else.  I had a Fitbit for a couple of years and enjoyed the challenges.  Now I've made the move to the Apple Watch and really the miss the features of the Fitbit app, especially the challenges with friends.  It would be great to have an alternative to Apple Health / Workout from Fitbit for the Apple Watch.  Sounds like most of us would be open to paying for the service.

@SilviaFitbit as a moderator, are you able to give this group an update if the idea has been considered by Fitbit?  It has been two years since this thread was created so there seems to be ongoing support for the idea.

NO chance, they compete with each other.

Been a Fitbit user for 3 years and now have an Apple Watch, can't believe they don't want apple customers paying for this service. Oh well, bye bye Fitbit!

I would gladly pay a fee ( probably as much as $25) to go back to enjoying challenges with my friends. I will not go back to life without my Apple Watch but I loved the step challenges! If I don't want to carry a Fitbit one (like I used to) in addition to my watch - why would I carry a phone to track steps . PLEASE- just a simple app that allows connection to challenges!

I would really love it if Fitbit paired with Apple. If you are afraid that Fitbit trackers would stopped being purchased if this occurred, I doubt it. You can make the Fitbit connector app to apple only accsssible to those that already have a Fitbit.. that way purchasing a tracker doesn't become obsolete.

I hate that I can never wear my Apple Watch, especially when at work, because my Apple Watch is much dressier... but, I don't want to miss out on challenges and step tracking.

I'd love for you to partner with apple and make it so the Apple Watch can effectively track all activity- including being part of the challenges. The challenges are a huge part of Fitbit we all love.

Id be willing to pay for this feature

My husband and I both have fitbits and the scale. My husband wants to get the new fitbit, but I really would like to get the new apple watch as its waterproof and has several features I want that none of the fitbit's have. I would pay for the fitbit app if I could use it with the apple watch. If there is no integration we will both most likely move onto the apple watch and replace our scale with another Wi-Fi scale. Its such a shame as we both really love the app and the scale.

Please add this 🙂 if your goal is to truly promote health, you would consider adding this to the FitBit app! I would love to be able to participate with my friends in challenges!

HI, please add me to the list! I love the forum & even if the answers aren't as I wish, love the helpfulness of fitbit staff & the community. Have purchased more than my share of products for myself, husband & as gifts. I used a surge until it died (and now hopefully a blaze) to keep an eye on my 82 y/o father & to get him to move through challenges. However, I too work where a tangerine surge isn't in the best of taste all of the time so I'd love to wear an apple watch while contining w/ the fitbit site. Good idea w/ carrying the fitbit one but I would probably lose it in the laundry w/i the first week, or the kids or the dog...you get the idea. Please hurry, my surge is on it's last legs after being worn continuously for 14mo & I'm not sure if it will be my last fitbit. Thank you!

As a side note, what is the average life expectancy for a surge- low to moderate runner, GPS 2-3 Xs per week only but worn every day as primary watch?

My wife has a Fitbit and we have a Fitbit scale.  I have an Apple Watch (a gift from my wife) and would like to be able to set up a regimen to get fit and healthy with her using our watches. I would love if there was some way that we could do this together, without having to ditch a gift from my wife. Please help with an Apple Watch app. Thanks!!!

Hi,

Just one more vote for Fitbit to develop an Apple Watch app. I do realize that Fitbit is in the business of selling fitness tracking devices but believe you can add fitness tracking software to your portfolio. I am a former Fitbit One owner. It died on me after 3 trips through the washing machine (totally my fault).

I decided to go the Apple Watch route because I wanted the increased functionality and more stylish look. I do miss the integration with the fitbit community.

Like most of the folks here,i would gladly pay a subscription fee for such an app.

Thanks for your consideration.
