Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

Get Fitbit to sync with Healthkit please

I have been trying to figure out why Fitbit is not listed under the devices tab on the Apple Healthkit and I'm hearing it doesn't sync?? Why is this? I already have a Jawbone and it does this. I got the Fitbit so I could do the challenges with coworkers! I'm thinking about returning it because I really would like this feature! So many apps sync and connect to the Apple Healthkit, why doesn't Fitbit? Please advise and if there is possibly a plan? This is ridiculous!

Also why would Fitbit have an iOS app but not sync with Apple's own Healthkit?

@Jenpatt74, that's the deceptive game that Fitbit is playing. They have an iOS app so that they can claim iOS compatibility and easily collect your fitness data for their own benefit, not yours. Your needs as an iOS user will be ignored as shown from their non-responsive stance for the last 17 months.

I would return it while you can.

Prior to fitbit's handling (some would say mishandling) of HealthKit integration, I was a strong supporter of FitBit.  I managed to get all my family on board.  Various trackers and arias were purchased.  They have all been discarded because regardless of FitBit's appeal, they no longer meet our needs.  We've transitioned to other products that frankly are better quality and sync with HealthKit.

FitBit is not forthright.  If you choose its limited capabilities, that is certainly your right.  I do hope you enjoy the experience.  Be aware they have a history of poor customer service.

At one time FitBit was the best tracker out there.  Those days are long gone.  They are the best known, but hardly the best.

If you received one for Christmas either accept its limited capabilities and use it to motivate yourself toward improved fitness or return it for another brand.  Holding out for FitBit to get on board with Apple HealthKit is like spitting in the wind.

Fitbit, please integrate ASAP to Apple and Microsoft health. The more programs you integrate to the more ubiquitous the Fitbit product becomes. The alternative is you continue angering yiur core clients pushing them to Apple Watch or other competitors. Your choice. Be wise.

I would love to see my Fitbit Surge data (especially heart rate data) sync to the iHealth app on my iPhone. My husband has an iWatch and the iHealth data from the watch gets uploaded to our health insurance provider. They issue us with points and rewards for exercise sessions based on the time your heart rate was in a specific zone.

I don't get these points and hence the rewards for them, because my Fitbit Surge does not sync data to the iHealth app.

Yikes! A year and a half, and Fitbit (one of the best-known fitness band manufacturers) is still unable to get their app to work with HealthKit?? I'm SO GLAD my Fitbit Charge HR was a prize, because if I'd paid money for it, I would be furious!

I certainly understand that software and accessories aren't always able to keep up with Apple's evolving standards, but it's been a year and a half now; what is holding up Fitbit? Don't they have more than one programmer toiling away in their bedroom on this? I thought they were one of the top fitness bands, but I guess I was wrong!

Surprised and very disappointed that Fitbit doesn't sync with IPhone Health app! And in scanning above I saw something about getting info to health insurance companies for benefits! But, that's only with the iWatch and iHealth. That would be awesome.

Virtually every iOS user wants to manage their health data via HealthKit, and there's no logical reason any customer would be against such an option. Instead of doing what their customers want, Fitbit is doing what they want, which is to retain exclusive control of their users' data. Because, you know, designing for greed over user experience has worked out so well for all of those other companies (it hasn't). Not that anybody at Fitbit cares or will even read this, but I bought 3 devices for $150 each, and Fitbit gets exclusive access to the data these devices are collecting. I can't even export the one datapoint I actually care about (heart rate) via CSV or Excel; they are the exclusive owners of this data. So now I'm going to return these devices. Fitbit loses a $450 sale, but still owns my data. I hate that I've contributed anything to this company, but at least I can rest easy knowing I've done all I can to help seal the fate of this dying company. FU, FB.

My family has had six devices over the last 4 years. If I don't see HealthKit integration soon we're moving out of the ecosystem.

I don't think these fit bit clowns care about the feedback. There have been
no 'corporate' replies to any of these requests. Keeping my on the comp
and will move to another fit watch when its time.

I agree, people stop wasting your time. FitBit isn’t listening, either because they’re incompetent or feel they have a “better way” but are not willing to share. Either way, not worth time to ask for something when there’s nobody listening.

They don't care because they are still angry at Apple for booting them from their stores. They also feel Apple is a direct competitor with their Apple Watch. Look at the new Blaze model. Interchangeable straps, color screen etc. starting to look more like the Apple Watch everyday.

They probably don't even feel that the "we don't care about our customers" argument is valid. They want users to be part of their ecosystem rather than Apples. That's where their short sighted view will be cause for their loss and possible eventual demise. If they do eventually cave in and sync with HealthKit it probably will be too late. They could still turn it around to their advantage and make a big splash with announcing that they support it but I feel that their pride won't allow them to do so.

As consumers we look for solutions to our needs and wants. If HealthKit provides the basis for those then we will move towards products that support it. Sure, Apple isn't the only platform, but it is a major player if not the largest player. So unless FitBit has a complete change of mind or reach the awakening required for then to see past their own failings, Apple users will continue to migrate away from its ecosystem.

In the end we can spread the word to other current or potential fitness tracker users about the reality regarding fitbits obvious decision not to play nice with Apples health platform. If they do finally collaborate then maybe we'll come back, maybe. No promises. We'll think about it and evaluate your solution. Just like you've been evaluating HealthKit for 2 years.

@xl_ninja, I don't think it's a case of Fitbit being angry at Apple for booting them out. Fitbit was actually booted out because it did not want to integrate with HealthKit when Apple introduced it, well over 17 months ago. Prior to HealthKit, Fitbit built up its iOS user base from clients who bought its products from the Apple Store. Apple endorsed Fitbit when it started out and Fitbit was very arrogant at not returning the favours by not agreeing to integrate with HealthKit. It's just the type of company Fitbit is - not trustworthy and self serving.

I'm done evaluating. My conclusion: never coming back to Fitbit. There are way better products in the market now (e.g. Garmin, Withings, Jawbone, etc.) that already integrate with HealthKit.

FitBit and Apple Watch need to integrate their platforms. I would like to see FitBit statistics shown in the Health app. Steps, Sleep, Active Minutes. It all adds up to a better customer experience.

I received my Fitbit as a gift, so I hadn't done my typical research for best products. The brand name had been good, as is my watch so far, but as I look to start managing my overall health, Fitbits failure to integrate with Apple's HealthKit is serious con. I was very disappointed. I would not have purchased a Fitbit product based on this. I hope they start listening to their customers soon about integrating or they will quickly lose market share. I know I've passed this info on to my neighbors and coworkers and most will look at other options now. Word travels fast.
