Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

Syncing with Apple Health please. This is long overdue and competitors are now producing a better experience by offering it.

Syncing with Withings in particular pulling weight data from their scales.

So long overdue! This is a must!

Dear Apple,

What is the point of having a Health App if it doesn't exchange information with a solid and popular health and fitness application such as FitBit?

The only response that I can imagine in about $ and turf wars. Maybe that is not childish, but it certainly is selfish and short-sighted.

Hope you two can play nice soon.

There are 164 pages of comments about integrating going back to 2014. It's nice that there is the mobile Version that uses your phone data, but why not Apple watch data? Even if it was a Paid subscription, I'd pay 20 bucks a year to have that feature.  As of now I'm wearing an old tracker so I can still compete with my family.  Really wish you guys would integrate.

@Swift-Engineer Fitbit's lack of integration with HealthKit has nothing to do with Apple. It is all on Fitbit. Fitbit decided to have a closed ecosystem to force you to use their products. They used to integrate with other health aggregators such as Microsoft's HealthVault and removed that functionality. Fitbit can now sell your aggregated data since they own it. If this doesn't agree with you, drop Fitbit and use the many other options out there that integrate with the health aggregators such as HealthKit.

This thread has been going since iOS 8/2014 and Fitbit has decided not to integrate. I don't see this changing now. Vote with your dollars and find something else.

I was about to say something close to what you said, well just that the thread is over 2 years old and integration has been a thought. They aren't doing it so might as well just get used to it and move forward.

I used to follow this thread to see other disappointed users stick it to FitBit. That enjoyment has turned sour these days and I'm left with a deep sense of disappointment and real frustration with FitBit. Perhaps with the new year it's time to turn off alerts for this thread and accept that I will never be a FitBit owner again.

@Swift-Engineer given your name you ought to know, that HealthKit integration is up the app publisher, not Apple. FitBit chose the exclude themselves.

Ok, look - BONEHEAD. I got this for Christmas and plugged it in yesterday afternoon.

it took 3 minutes of google to figure this out.   It is Fitbit that doesn't play nice, not Apple (in this instance). Solving this is a $3 third party vendor away.

The only remaining question is whether this is worth my time or not. Thus far, the member group has shown zero.

i have the hardware and the app and they work fine as long as I don't shower or swim with it on. In my ideological mind they should have worked this out in 3 years. They haven't.

So they only remaining question is whether I care enough to spend $3 on a temporary app to bridge this gap or wait (because it can reverse sync) until Fitbit concedes.

I don't know who you are calling Bonehead, Swift-Engineer, but I think we all know it is Fitbit that does not integrate with Apple Healthkit.  After all, lots of other gadgets DO sync happily with Healthkit.  That's why we are all posting here, in the hopes that MAYBE, Fitbit will take notice.  Doesn't look probable, I agree, but maybe we just need to stop buying their products.

As it happens I got a Withings Pulse for Christmas.  Does all the things my Fitbit One did, and syncs with Apple Healthkit too, but the Withings software just is not as capable as Fitbit's.  If they integrated with Healthkit I would still use their software, though I am alarmed at the suggestion that they may be selling my data on.

Maybe in that case I'll just use the pulse and forget about Fitbit.  I do hope they take note though, if they don't, they'll end up losing out to others - there's plenty out there which will give us what we want.

given various flavors of comments and feedback, it looks like it would be good to have these dashboards integrates (dashboard apps) and talks to each other even we use diff hardware wearables.  I am planning to see how best to shutdown this thread for now.

I am not sure if it would help asking for Fitbit to be integrated with Apple health now as Fitbit has clearly decided not to do it and ignored the requests from 4000+ users.

@Swift-Engineer I am sure you are soon to find out the limitations of syncing through a third party app from Fitbit to Apple Health. Fitbit's API is less robust and does not support the kind of syncing that most users are after (for instance, in the past, heart rate could not be synced in real time, it was only the daily average at the end of the day). This may be sufficient, but many of the users in this thread want full control of their data and wish for the data to sync the way it was intended with Apple's API into Apple Health on the iOS platform. That's the crux of this thread and the reason why many of us were sent here to comment (by Fitbit support), voice our opinion that we want this integration (since 2014 and iOS 8). By this point as many have mentioned, hope for this particular (BEST) inegration is waning and many are, rightfully, moving onwards to better products...

Yup, Fitbit doesn't appear to care about it's consumers so I've began to quit caring about Fitbit. I'll likely be switching to Withings here shortly since I already have a Withings smart scale and their new watch supports continous heart rate and phone/text alerts. If I don't like their watch, then I'll shell out the extra cash for an iWatch.

It's been real and it's been fun, but it's not been real fun, Fitbit. Shame, so much potential... what a waste to lose consumers over this.

Had UP3, replaced it twice due to tearing of the band. Not worth the headache in my opinion

The problem with 3rd party apps is that you manually have to sync the data, then delete duplicates. (The iPhone records steps and workouts too). All of my other exercise, sleep and food apps are already integrated with HealthKit.

My blood pressure cuff and scale syncs with HealthKit, but not fitbit... again more manual intervention if I want my data all in one place.

There is nothing Apple can do to sync with fitbit. This is all on fitbit to add the feature to their app.

This would be great to use the whole health picture in apple health

This bug has been present for 2+ years and still no update.  This needs to be a priority or I will not buy another FitBit product.   Fire the development staff if they do not want to listen to customers.

Once again we would like FitBit to integrate with Apple HealthKit.  It has been a couple years since this was first requested and thousands of replies but still no movement and no recent response from FitBit.  Even if it was offered as a "Premimum" feature, but at this point I have no reason to buy a tracking device if the software is not compatable with the rest of my health data.
