Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

I'm beyond frustrated with the decision to not integrate with HealthKit. I'm a longtime, die hard Fitbit fan, but the decisions lately leave me a little baffled. First the Force is taken off the market with no replacement in sight. Then to make my tracker further obsolete, it now doesn't integrate with HealthKit. To answer your response: ...We don't have immediate plans to integrate with HealthKit. We'll watch HealthKit closely as it matures and look for opportunities to improve the Fitbit experience. In the meantime we'd like to hear more from you about what you'd like to see in a HealthKit and Fitbit integration... How about this? I'd like to see my Fitbit data sent over to HealthKit. It isn't hard, all of your competitors already do it. Thanks for making my decision between your product and an Apple Watch an easy one next year.

Please integrate Fitbit onto the new HealthKit app.

how come jawbone has it already?

Whilst the Fitbit app works well (most of the time), it would be good to be able to integrate the data into the Apple HealthKit app.

Integration now or my Fitbit device will be sold on eBay...

As of now the only "Official" answer is a canned response from Teir one support. Dealing with CS and IT on a day basis I'm used to teir one kno ing nothing. Until I hear a real response from fitbit I'm not going to pass judgement. I was told before that fitbit had submitted a new app to Apple on the 19th and it seems that the I formation ws true didn't have HK but was true. Then someone reported on the 2nd or so that they tweeted a new app was submitted on or around that time. My iPhone 6 plus will be here on the 14th. I'm going to wait and see hopefully fitbit is just like every other tech company I deal with and the product is out the door before support knows it exists

What the hell?

Screw Fitbit.  I'm leaving and going elsewhere.  I wanted the Force and they pissed around with that.  Now I want to be able to integrate with Healthkit and they don't seem to be arsed with that.  What a waste of money.  I've championed my Fitbit to all my friends.  Now I'll send them to competitors.  Why would I recommend a company and product which is no longer as good on hardware OR on software?  Poor effort, Fitbit.

Have to chime in that we will also throw this product out the window unless such integration will happen. Pity though, as we (wife and I) have been quite happy with the Fitbit One and Flex but will have to find something else to be used with the new iPhone..

Guess what fitbit? Apple users have a higher income, and use their devices more than any other phone. You're missing the sweet spot, and apparently don't even care. Pretty sad.

Since it is very obvious that NO ONE from FITBIT reads this section of the board, I would strongly suggest that people start posting on this thread which is in the main section of the board.

That new app/update was to support MobileTrack and had nothing to do with HealthKit. We may be getting canned answers (in terms of this topic and the issue of when or if a new line of products to replace and update the Force is coming), but, based on the actual status of things, they are accurate and truthful responses: there is currently no HealthKit integration and no evidence that that will change in the future. It's a shame. Initially my only question was if I should go ahead and get a One or wait it out for the new line of devices. Now I'm questioning if I should buy anything from Fitbit at all.

How is this NOT integrated yet?  Starting to get extremely disappointed...

Please add a Apple Health sync option to the current ios 8 app. I have to use the Jawbone app to sync my iphone steps information due to the lack os support from fitbit.

I also read that the Jawbone app soon with support fitbit device sync.

Fredsocial, where did you read about the Jawbone app supporting a fitbit sync? That would be nice for the intermediate, but I have to be honest, I'm getting REALLY fed up with doing backflips and having to try unnecessary apps to do what Fitbit should do automatically.

According to an email from Fitbit this morning, they have no plans to integrate it.  This is very disappointing because I think FitBit is at the head of the pack and with Apple owning about half of the market...it only makes sense. And from what I gather, all they are doing is handing off data--with permission. Not like the Apple app is doing the tracking etc. FitBit already hands off to MapMyRun/Fitness/Walk/Ride/Hike so why not now?  Crazy and a disappointment!

Hi John,

Thanks for your question.

We don't have immediate plans to integrate with HealthKit. We'll watch HealthKit closely as it matures and look for opportunities to improve the Fitbit experience.

In the meantime we'd like to hear more from you about what you'd like to see in a HealthKit and Fitbit integration. Please share your ideas in our community at https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Requests/Integrate-with-iOS-8-Health-App/idi-p/319432.

We appreciate your feedback.

Sincerely,

I was under the assumption that you guys were already underway on the intergration, in ALL the articles that I've read about iOS 8 and what it can do, Fitbit and Nike+ are always mentioned, and by just opening up the app you can see, 1: Nike Fuel, which is from Nike+ and some of there other apps that coinside with their band and other equipment, 2: the grids for steps, floors climbed, active calories, sleep, and all the ones that refer to weight, one would think that the Health app was made for Fitbit not vice versa. I'd be happy just to see this info sent over to the health app, so I can stop having to put in it manually, cause honestly I always upgrade my iPhone I have a 5c now and looked at the 6, and I'm ready to buy at that put my tracker may just be put up anyway since the phone has motion tracking, and I already own 2 Ultras, upgraded and got 2 One's and I also own the scale, by not intergrating you guys are making this stuff useless to me except the scale. So let's ummmmm, chop chop on doing what  you already know needs to be done, you've got 4 pages here of people wanting it, SUPPLY AND DEMAND would dictate, you move you butts before someone else does.

Update your app to work with Healthkit otherwise you'll just be doing Jawbone a huge favor by handing them unsatisfied customers (myself included)!!!

What would be a good reason to not do it?

Seriously? They don't plan to integrate with Healthkit?  So disappointing.  I will switch to an Apple Watch once it is released, but maybe I'll pick up the Jawbone Up until then.

I don't want to switch to another tracker but if you are turning my fitbit flex into a has-been, so be it.  It will nicely fit into the cupboard where all of my microsoft stuff has ended up.  Technology will not standstill so why are you standing still ??

Guys check out misfit flash, only 50 bucks and already integrated with healthkit. Fitbit lost my respect.
