Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

The appeal of Health Kit is that I can aggregate all of my quantified health info in one place, and I can choose the device that does the best job of giving me each piece of data. I plan to get the Apple Watch next year, but I was also planning to stay with Fitbit to keep tracking my steps, since I don't plan to wear my Apple Watch at all times. Fitbit would have been my choice to provide step data to Health Kit, and I was actually eyeing a new Flex to replace my dying Zip. Now? Not so much. I guess I'll just ride the Zip until the Apple Watch is released and then jump ship to another tracker that integrates with Health Kit or plan to wear the Apple Watch more often.

Chalk me up as yet another vote in this growing thread to incorporate Fitbit data with the iPhone Health Kit.

"Does not play well with others" is not a good look, Fitbit.

Being in the health records industry, I see all the big electronic health records (EHR) vendors holding health data for ransom.  Software such as PracticeFusion, or eClinicalWorks, just to name a few, all profit from our health data. When it comes to data portability, they hold it for ransom.  Even with HIPAA mandates, they've managed to make data portability harder than when we relied on fax machines.  We are decades behind when it comes to health data and health care and the leadership at these backwards thinking companies are to blame.

I never would have guessed that fitbit, being a product of a newer bread of tech, would dangle my health data for their own profiteering.

I'm disgusted with this approach.  I've had a change of heart from my earlier comment.

I"M OUT.

I'm out too.  I'd better sell it before it's worthless.

Wow, you haven't even started working on Health Kit!  Wow... I have been waiting, checking the app store for an update every day.  "There is no way I company like FitBit will not be the first in line." is what I thought... Time to sell my FitBit Flex, what a joke

I have loved my FitBit Force and and am a  new iPhone 6 Plus owner.  I would very much like to integrate the two devices.  Please consider making the Force compatible with the iOS 8.  Thank you.

+1 for HealthKit integration. I want all my health and fitness data in one place. 'Nuf said.

Thanks for having a community forum where our voices can be heard. Hope you can make your product even better by re-releasing the Force and integrating with HealthKit. Then I'll be back on the FitBit train, telling all my friends.

Thanks in advance for listening to all your fans!

Definitely want Healthkit integration, it would be nice to have all of my information in one place. If there is no integration coming, I would have to look for another device.

+1 for Health integration/support.

It would be a mistake not to utilize the Health APIs to read/write data to and from Health.

Others had said it and this is the point- one central location for all health/fitness data.

Example: I recently deleted a HeartRate app that does not yet support Health in favor of one that has already adopted it. MyFitnessPal is another great example of how to integrate with Health. I was wanting to buy the Aria scale so it would automatically send my weight/body fat into to Fitbit and then to Health, but seeing as that is not going to happen soon, I'm sure another company will come along soon enough with the support I'm looking for.

Great idea!  I just sent my tweet to Tim Cook.

I've been checking this thread several times a day for any kind of news and it's driving me mental, I was thinking of buying an Aria once Healthkit integration comes in but instead I'm tempted to start looking for my Flex receipt and take it back to PC World. It doesn't matter what integration would entail and what we expect to get out of it, we just want it and Fitbit are going to haemorrhage tech-savvy iOS users until it happens. I know they didn't ask to be put in this position and it's a big decision to make, but things are only going to look worse and worse until they publicly decide: yes or no.

I'm assuming this is a business decision considering the PR mess Fitbit is about to be in. If that's true, this business model doesn't align with my preferences as a customer, so I'll be looking elsewhere for activity tracking.

I have been waiting patiently for healthkit integration.   I used to use the jawbone UP for approximately 2 years.  When that band died, I went with fitbit because my wife and sister in law raved about it.  Oveall I'm happy with it, it has some things I like, Jawbone had things that I liked, it was a pretty even trade.

Now not to have healthkit integration, i'm disheartened.   It may be time to go to try the nike fuel or the garmin (potentially 1 year of battery life? yes please)  I already have the garmin forerunner and heart monitor, so that's more devices integrated with each other. Plus at REI I can get money back (and take my fitbit back)

Why not expand your user experience?  Forcing them into only your product and only your way of doing things isn't going to appease customers anymore.  Look at Kuerig and their new DRM cups.

ihealth is already starting to appear polished and giving me a lot of information all in 1 place, but I also need to open up your app to now look at information.   There are 744 comments before mine of customers who seem to want this integration, While I don't know your total userbase, let alone ios and ios8 userbase.  It does seem like it is a feature that users are interested in.

I lost my Fitbit a month ago and I've been so busy I haven't replaced it. I was literally JUST about to go out this afternoon to purchase a replacement until I saw this. I was planning on buying the Apple Watch anyway, but I still need something to use until that comes out in February. Now I'm sure that won't be a Fitbit and I'll be looking for another device.

I also expect the Fitbit to be pulled from the shelves at Apple Stores soon after this announcement. Really makes absolutely no sense.

I'm now told fitbit has no plans to integrate with HealthKit and I should post my thoughts here. So here you go fitbit let me put this in a canned non personalized response like you told me in the email. " thank you for taking time to respond to my request fitbit team! At this time I have no plans on keeping my fitbit past Christmas and will be shopping for a fitness band that does! I will be watching your company either mature and get with the program and integrate it or sink from this dumb business move! Sincerely, Mark.

I really hope the team will change their mind and join along with these services and improvements.

I'm very close to offloading my Fitbit products and moving to a competitor. The loss of the Force, and the weaknesses compared to competitors, give me great pause to continue in the ecosystem.

Please update the Fitbit app to integrate with HealthKit.  I don't want to have to move to another tracker to have all my data integrated.

Thanks,

Eric

Other companies now have next gen products and better integration with new services. To me that puts fitbit at a competitive disadvantage in both products and services...

I Honestly care more about having a good replacement for the force than i do about integration with healthkit but to be lacking in both is pretty sad. I can understand how the business model fitbit has (with pro accounts for more analytics) would be difficult to integrate without giving away the business but given the public outcry, you may want to reconsider.

What will your position be with google fit?

I'm really dissapointed that FitBit has dropped the ball on the IOS 8 Health Kit Intigration. I expected FitBit to have its app updated and ready for intigration once the Health Kit was ready to go.

While I still really love my FitBit Force, but with the lack of intigration, and no news about new products since the Force recall, I am tempted to start shopping around for a new activity tracker.

I hope FitBit gets thier ducks in a row and intigrates with Health Kit ASAP(HISTORICAL DATA IMPORTING IS A MUST)

I have an Aria scale and have purchased several of your Fitbit devices. It is very important to me to have a way to have the data integrate with the new Apple Health app.

I am very disappointed you do not already have an update to allow the scale in particular to integrate with the Health app. Please reconsider your position on integration with the Health app.

At least provide a means of integrating the Aria scale into the Health app.

I have enjoyed using Fitbit hardware and software. I would like to continue, however I will not do so if you do not integrate with Apple services. Thank you for your attention to my comment.

I understand the want and need of Fitbit to want to keep track of the data it records. Things such as the communites, friends list, and even the ability to see my progress throughout the day cannot be duplicated anywhere else. If/when Fitbit decides to intigrate with Apple's Health Kit I would like to see my Fitbit information forwaded at the end of the day. The Health app would show my total steps taken, flights of stairs, and calories both eaten and burned. The Fitbit app would still be the place I go to enter the foods I've eaten and to view my daily progress toward my goals.

I retired my Nike Fuelband and bought a fitbit Flex in anticipation of it intergrating into Apple's Health app. I am seriously considering returning it after reading this news. I very much hope fitbit reconsiders their decision on healthkit.
