Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

More than just HealthKit integration, I think what we also wanted out of such a Feature Request Forum is the sense that we were being taken seriously. The responses of other here lead me to suspect that (rightly or wrongly) this isn't the general impression we are getting.

And that makes 938 votes.....Created an account just so I could vote this up.

What would I like to see?  I would like to see my data in healthbook.  As fitness machines add healthkit and various other health related trackers it would be nice for it all to integrate into one single pain of glass.  I have always been a fitbit fan and love my one but with the HR feature in the new charge line I am really considering going that route but not if I can't have my info.

This is very disappointing. I was hoping fitbit would work with the health app as it is a nice simple interface that ties in my scale. I would like to have both my scale data and my fitness data to sync into the health app as well as reading in all releveant data, such as steps taken.
Without this the fitbit app is now useless as there are many apps which integrate nicely and open up the world of healthkit, which should be simple enough to integrate.

At this point I am not only looking at other apps for my exercise and goal tracking but I think I may be be looking to replace my scale with one that will support syncing my data so that it is useful beyond the fitbit app. I just feel like fitbit is trying to create their own ecosystem they lock people into but it simply is not what people want. Clearly people want the flexibility and extensibility that healthkit provides.

I cant believe fitbit would chose to be so slow and stubborn when the market is clearly showing where it wants to go. Fitbit will be left in the dust as people switch to other options.

FitBit devices pulled from Apple Store now. The fat lady is singing. The decision they will make next year is how to liquidate during bankruptcy filing.

I would love to see this integration!  I especially would like my Aria Scale to work and sync with both fitbit and Apple Health Kit app.

Folks, your customers are speaking.  Will you do the integration?

Seems like a no-brainer.  Don't understand why the hesitation on Fitbit's part.  This was flagged as a major development at the Apple Developers' Conference way back in June.

You can now use the free iOS app RunGap Workout Tracker to send your Fitbit daily summaries to HealthKit:

I totally understand that you guys will not integrate with HealthKit. It's your right as a company to make that choice. I don't respect it, but I understand it.

However, at this time, the fitbit company needs to revise its mission statement:

"To empower and inspire you to live a healthier, more active life. We design products and experiences that fit seamlessly into your life so you can achieve your health and fitness goals, whatever they may be." [emphasis added]

The bold, italicized, and underlined text is a direct example of why we want to see HealthKit integration and what we, as your once loyal/former customers, expect from such a feature. It even uses the phrase "whatever they may be." The mission statement does not say anything about only helping users if we can provide over 2000 comments explaining what we want and why we want it. If that mission statement truly your corporate purpose and not just a fancy patronizing slogan, then honestly, what more can we do?

You asked for "patience and ongoing support," which is totally understandable and could have been feasible under different circumstances. I think the reason we have lost our patience and our faith in the company is that, at this point you still haven't decided if HealthKit is something from which your users would benefit. At the very least you could change this topic's status to "Denied." There is no legitimate reason given, or in existence, as to why the company has not even decided yet. If you wanted patience for your developers to write the code to allow the integration, that is a different story. However, you are asking for patience of another few months before you even DECIDE whether or not to integrate.

It's pretty interesting, also, that fitbit will announce their decision in early 2015... Do any of the users out there know of a major industry-changing product with full HealthKit integration that will be released then as well? I guess we will have to "Watch" and see what comes through the product pipeline.

I'm a bit confused here.

Back before iOS 8 came out, and talk of healthkit was going on, there had been media reports of fitbit having partnered with healthkit....that the fitbit logo was even one of the logos displayed when healthkit was first announced. I thought that for sure this meant fitbit was going to integrate with healthkit.

And then, one by one, other fitness apps started to integrate and i kept thinking...hmm..when is fitbit going to? Did i read those media reports correctly? Then i found this post, before it went into under construction. I just found it again, and i'm kind of shocked by your response here. You go on talking about wanting to be able to integrate with all sorts of apps and so on...and then say you aren't doing it. I'm really kind of floored, that even a google sheets api can pull step counts from fitbit, but i cant get my fitbit steps to show up in healthkit. Can't you guys at least do that and work out the other details later? Just get the steps in please.

There is no "decide", at this point. Closing in on 1000 votes and 2000 comments, they have no choice in the matter whatever they think.

If they want to maintain any semblance of listening to their customers they need to set course now. Whether it is to implement it or just set status to Declined they have to make a choice sooner rather than later. Stringing users along like this gives the impression of not caring on bit about customer opinions. Even rejecting the idea would imply actually having evaluated it. This idiotic limbo just suggests that they want to dodge the issue as long as they can.

Not really something that makes me want to stick to a company.

Seems like Fitbit forgoing Healthkit integration might be a shot in the foot. People like choices.  And while Fitbit may offer decent app to customers, that lack of integration for many Apple people comes across as a turnoff.

My wife recently got a Fitbit Flex, and she has me interested. We have a good bit invested in the Apple ecosystem. So while I'm holding out on buying a Fitbit until the Charge HR is released, I at least have to stop and check out the competition. The ones that do integrate. And some of the offerings are tempting.

I would love to have a Fitbit/Apple Health integration. In fact, I'm wondering why it hasn't already happened!

I certainly believe that Fitbit should integrate with Apple Health.I have built up my habit of always having my Fitbit One on me at all times, and I purchase wristbands frequently to make sure I capture sleep cycles as well, and I'm now integrating Apple Health into my daily routine for aggregation of all health related data. It would be unfortunate if I can't access my sleep and walking data. I would probably look for another activity monitor that does integrate with Apple.

I find it very helpful to have all of my health-related information in one place, so I am very much looking forward to the day, hopefully soon, when Fitbit will share data with HealthKit.

Just now read the news that FitBit is not planning to integrate with Health.

I am very, very, very disappointed. I have been a pretty happy user of the Aria for a couple of years, but the chance to integrate with Health seemed like the perfect match, when Apple announced the app. I am not interested in wristbands and all that, but the iPhone 6 does a nice job of tracking walking and climbing stairs and hopefully soon cycling, so it gathers all the data I'm interested in.

The chance to see the correlation between activity and weight had me really excited. But now it seems I must dump my Aria and get a competing product in stead...

Bah.

Difficult to believe that this hasn't happened alrealdy.  I love my Fitbit product but if it doesn't integrate with the health dashboard on my iPhone I'm going to go elsewhere.

It seems Fitbit has released another update - version 2.5.2 - of the iOS app.

Just a friendly reminder that their reviews reset with each release.

I have reposted my one-star review with my comments regarding the lack of basic support for Healthkit.  I would recommend that you do the same.

Why support HealthKit? So I can do things with my own data. I would like to cross correlate my health metrics. I looked at premium for the data downloads but it wasn't worth the money to me. I wrote a google doc to grab my data through your API (before it changed recently), and I liked making my own stats. I already learned that I walk less in the winter, consistently. That was valuable. I correlated my steps to the stock market, but there was no signifcance 🙂

I used fitbit to teach myself R. But now I want ALL my data together. I could do so much more. You do not "know best", and you will never support my ability to do things like this:

Switched to withings scale. Waiting on Apple Watch.

Please integrate with Healthkit.

Why:

   1) Strategic business benefit:  expand the fitbit brand using the power of the Apple brand
       and Hardware fanbase.

   2) Minimize the potential loss of relevancy as Apple dives deeper into the health craze, ala.
Apple Pay and its' immediate rendering the "Coin" credit card initiative as a moot effort.
   3) Potential new product opportunities with Apple hardware.

   4) New usage and health benefit oppotunities for Fitbit customers.

   5) Opportunity for Fitbit managers to address the question Fitbit customers will eventually
ask "Why do I need two devices on my wrist? A smartwatch and a Fitbit device.

   6) Go open or become irrelevant, (just look to Google and Apple for this lesson)

Again,  please create a interface with Healthkit.

Thanks

Please integrate with Health Kit. For me it's very simple. If there is no Health Kit integration soon, I am switching to one of fitbit's competitors.
