Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

@Basalt so I looked at the UP3, from reading about their tracker this is what I see as a problem.

SleepTracking still has to be triggered :(,  However, you do get sleep cycle alarms.

Heart Rate is only tracked as resting heart rate, so you cannot get your cardio/peak heart rate targets

yeah it has 7 day battery (but we'll find out once it's released).

doesn't sound like a viable replacement to the charge hr.

@asrose @Iwone @drtaxsacto i'm glad that apple watch will work for you.  I want sleep tracking for the morning alarm.  I don't want a crappy sound alarm.  that's already available on the phone.

When I got my Move, it was because because the heart rate devices are so new, I'm sure the next gen will be better.

@JeremiahFitbit do you know if there is any progress toward heart rate integration with Healthkit?

Thanks!

The iOS has been out for awhile. Why does the fit bit not integrate with the health app on the phones. The is the biggest problem I see with the app.

@zapleahy @the other alleged moderator

After 323 days (10 months and 18 days), we deserve an answer... no more lies, no more games.

Dear Moderators: you and your company were boasting about how you would finally make a decision, as in YES or NO, regarding Apple Health integration in early 2015. Almost 1/3 of the year has passed and fitbit has yet to announce an actual decision. Constantly pretending to be "researching" or "investigating" hasn't won you any fans or convinced any of your (former) customers that fitbit takes its users seriously. I think that with all of the time and money we have invested in your products, you owe us an actual and truthful answer regarding this matter. We already know that the answer is "NO," but it would just be nice if your company respected its customers to at least publicly state that answer at this point. This thread has been "Under Consideration" since 6-2-2014. Your company has never considered ANYTHING for that length of time. Please at least change the thread to denied. This is not a good strategy to conduct business. Without your customers, your business is nothing! If you can give us an honest, truthful, legitimate answer about what is still being "considered," that would go a long way. Please realize how it feels to be customers shelling out hundreds of dollars to a company that takes the money and then slaps us in the face over and over again.

Integration with Health Kit could/would indeed be awesome!  Heck, I'd love it even more if I could sync to Runtastic, but that will never happen. (I think these two companies hate each other)

Give Fitbit a break people, Health Kit hasn't been out that long.  I'm sure their trying to figure out how to use Apple's API's.  I mean just look at the Fitbit app, hasn’t really changed in years, while other developers like Runtastic, mapmyrun, Endomondo, etc., have all made big changes.

Fitbit is the leader in wearable devices (I think Apple will soon take that spot) however, they’re a follower when it comes to apps.  Perhaps, their following the "kiss" principal (Keep It Simple Stupid), after all their app is dead simple to use!  (This is a complement)  Most people I know are completely satisfied with the Fitbit app. It’s the runners (like me), cyclers, Zumba and general exercise nuts who crave more detailed information, so for us the Fitbit app is basically…well….basic.

I think Fitbit should do one of two things,

  1. Make a pro version of your app with more robust features like Runtastic (notice I keep mentioning Runtastic)
  2. Except the fact that your devices will be used as the catalyst for other and frankly better apps.

Of course there is a third option….. do both and let the user decide which app to use.

Well my Apple Watch arrived this morning. I've moved my Fitbit charge HR to my other wrist. Going to wear both for a week or two and see how it goes. The one thing I think I'll miss is the sleep monitoring, but all the other stuff I'm gaining (especially HealthKit integration) is going to win out at the end of the day, but we shall see. Would have never gotten the apple watch as I've been happy with the HR, but the central point of integration is what I want. Tired of an app for this, and app for that. It's great for things like the competitions, which I do, but the overall usefulness to me doesn't justify the "game" aspect. My wife's Pink Apple Sport Watch (mine is white) should be here next week. She has a FB One, she doesn't use the sleep tracking,o I don't think it's going to be hard for her to move either. She's going to wear both for a period of time, just like me. Our 13 YO son has a flex, he will probably keep using that until he gets one of our hand me down Apple Watches, but he's threatening already to take mine. LOL We also have to Aria scales, which if my wife and I find our new watches satisfy our needs, we will sell on eBay and trade in for maybe the WiThings scales. No way I'm going into the app just to trend my weight in one place but all my other data in another. Guys, I've been with Fitbit for around four years, I will miss you, I have loved your products, but I have a feeling here in a few weeks you might see four or five more devices go dark and not be sending you anymore data. 😞 Thanks for everything, you products truly did help keep my family motivated in exercising more.

Find new homes for our fitbit flexes - check

Find new home for our aria scale - check

Order a couple apple watches - check

Why did I take so long to order the apple watches?  Dadgumit....now I get to continue patiently waiting.  Good thing fitbit trained me well in this regard.  At least this time I have a guarantee.

I would really love to see Fitbit integrate with iOS Health Kit. For me, Health Kit has become a great one stop location to view all my health data. Does Fitbit really think that it's users use ONLY Fitbit? Among others, I use Nike Running, My Fitness Pal and Wahoo Fitness, and all these apps place data in Health Kit for easy viewing of ALL synced data. Come on Fitbit, get onboard!

I have an aria scale. I use my phone to track my biking. So... A Fitbit isn't the decice for me. I just want to be able to get my weight in other apps that I actually use. I want my weight to go with my cycling information, which is in strava. Strava can pull from health. I paid money for the scale so it would be easy. Why not make my life easy? I won't recommend your products to people because this is a pain in the and I can only imagine it will get worse from here. I bought your product, why force me to use your ecosystem when you literary have no other products I could use?

I bought my first Fitbit One a couple of years ago.. then switched to the arm unit... then came the disaster of the recall (of which I had a reaction to). I went to wearing only part of the day since I didn't want to give it up! But after the corporation did the recall with no viable option my additude of the company change. I went from a fibtbit fan boy who encouraged many to buy fitbit products. I did a total 180. My Apple watch will arrive tomorrow. Moving forward I will no never purchase another fitbit product. I have their scale... it will be replaced buy a competitor's product! Fitbit's corporate arrogance and stupidity have cost them a customer who has spent close to $500 on thier products. Their lack of support of healthkit was the final straw. All I can say is goodbye Fitbit... moving a great production forward to stickk to your guns and stupidity will put the company out of business and that unfortunate, but exaclty what you have coming. The customer has demanded HK support for months now and you refuse to give it.

Our family have used Fitbit products since 2013. It's disappointing to discover that Fitbit is apathetic to integrating with iOS Healthkit. The apathy is evident since the initial Fitbit post asking for opinions since June of last year with no updates since. In the case of iOS, I see it (our iDevices) as the central repository of our health data (especially now that Healthkit is in existence). Sensor makers (i.e. Fitbit, Garmin, Nike, etc.) making the lightest and most convenient product that updates health data to this central repository (i.e. Healthkit) will win out at the end of the day. My most recent purchase is a Charge HR, although happy with its functionality and convenience (light weight, good tracking) as a sensor, I can't say I'm happy with it's non-integration with Healthkit and the apparent lack of interest in doing so by Fitbit. If this doesn't change in the next month or so, we'll be moving on to other Healthkit friendly products.

Just got my Apple Watch. Had been a FitBit user for a couple years, but the HealthKit integration was the deciding factor in getting an Apple Watch over a new FitBit. Now I'm seriously contemplating replacing my Aria scale with one that syncs to HealthKit as well. So far I'm manually inputting my weight into the Health App.

Please support Applewatch via Healthkit. I have used fitbit for 4 years using 2 ultras a Flex and a ton of bands becuase they keep breaking. I love fitbit, the app and how it intergrated with all of my other helath products except APPLE HEALTHKIT and now that I have my APPLEWATCH I can not were both the flex and watch as the flexs Large band is just too small to move up the arm and wreaing my fitbit on the righthand just has not worked. I want to beabel to switch my applewatch for my flex when I swim, or sleep or anyother time I am not wearing my Apple Watch and have all of my data in my fitbit app where i have put 4 years of data. I am invested in Fitbit however it has come to a chose Fitbit or Applewatch when if you supported AppleWatch and HealthKit I could use both with a single data set, which would cause me to upgrade fitbits over time. I would even pay a small fee to add applewatch and healtkit support to my account. Please add this. Your offical thread has 99 pages over the last year. Listen to your users we want that feature. You intergrate with so many other health and fitness platforms why not APPLE what would intergration look like. Simple AppleWatch data would be synced to healthkit and you could pull the data and not duplicate it with fitbit data and it would just autoswitch between data sources just like your support for muti fitbits. Please add this feature soon while I am still invested in your Brand, Platform, Data, and products.

The window has closed. Apple watch works beautifully with HealthKit and MyFitnessPal. So ends my relationship with Fitbit that started with the Fitbit classic. You lost not only a customer, but also an evangelist.

11 months since the original post. How much more time and how many more posts before Fitbit listens to their customers. I'm disappointed that it appears to be falling on deaf ears.

A copy of the transcript of a Live chat where I asked the question about fitbit - the question was dodged beautifully!!

You: Thankyou - just one last thing - do you have any intention at all of integration with Apple Healthkit or not
Richard: As of now, we don't have immediate plans to integrate with HealthKit.
Richard: However, we'll watch HealthKit closely as it matures and look for opportunities to improve the Fitbit experience.
Richard: In the meantime we'd like to hear more from you about what you'd like to see in a HealthKit and Fitbit integration.
Richard: Please share your ideas in our community at https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Requests/Integrate-with-iOS-8-Health-App/idi-p/319432.
You: I have - as have 1500 other people, and Fitbit haven't responded in over a year
You: It's the hottest feature request there is
Richard: I see. Right now, we're still considering this opportunity.
You: You integrate with Microsoft's equivalent which is far newer
Richard: We always listen to your inputs and we're working hard to provide you with the best service in order to further improve customer experience.
You: ok - many thanks

Apparently they always listen to their customers - maybe others want to go through the live chat group - bombard them with requests that take up their time and are difficult to ignore

Live chat group?  I've never heard of that.  Could you please explain this feature and how to access it?  Many thanks!
