The lack of landscape view is such an important issue I've actually "left" Fitbit several times to use other devices and apps.
iIhave used everything, fitness band and smart watch, over the years, and if Fitbit had landscape view it's hands down the winner. The bands are the best, the app in many ways is excelent, especially logging food.
In every other aspect Fitbit app is a real winner, but this ONE SINGLE missing feature drags it down, totally.
To be truthful it amazes me that this issue hasn't been addressed.
Fitbit are taking a massive gamble overlooking this essential feature, people will keep walking away, and many will not come back, especially if they find what they want in another device and app.
Just received the Charge 2 for Xmas. Very disappointed to find out that the dashboard etc. can't be viewed in landscape on my iPad. Except for a couple of old games,I can't think of another app that doesn't support landscape view. How difficult can it be to update for this?
I contacted FitBit about this as well and received a response right away, with a link to this thread where someone apparently posted some workaround. While I appreciate the attempt at assistance, it's more than a bit mind boggling that FitBit wouldn't be available in landscape mode--come'on FitBit! There's a LOT of competition out there for trackers and this is most likely a deal breaker for more than one of them!
If I had known this, I would have never purchased a FitBit. It would seem to be a simple programming fix. Makes me wonder why they are reluctant to update the app to allow landscape mode.
I left Fitbit once because not this landscape issue, it is so aggravating having to turn iPad on its end to use the app. I came back to Fitbit because its still the best band, but it does amaze me that they didn’t seem to be motivated to modify the app. If they didn’t change it When Apple Watch has better battery life and sleep monitor I’ll be going back to that and it’ll be ByeBye Fitbit. Forever.
I've moved from FitBit from frustration on this issue and their lack of sensible (or even any) response to something you would think was a simple fix. Bye Bye FitBit. Sadly.
Seriously. Fitbit has to be the ONLY app out there that doesn't auto rotate. Why? At least give a reason. There's been nothing but silence from your end on this issue.
This rotation issue has apparently been around for a couple of years so it's not news to the manufacturer. Apple seems to work the same way in ignoring an issue that is clearly needed yet will refer customers to support sites similar to this. We all sit around and whine but to no end. Even cheap/free apps have the capacity to have landscape or portrait orientations so I'm pretty sure Fitbit can manage this.
There can be no question FitBit could address the landscape issue. They can't be short of funds, or tech and personnel resources, and surely they have enough users to justify the minor change. I believe that FitBit are either firmly of the opinion that users mainly access by phone, or, and this is a worry, they're playing the end game and believe their time is near an end. And can't justify any expenditure based on "why bother" in the twilight of their existence. You tell me.
Like, never. We've been harping on about this feature since early days, they show absolutely no inclination to provide it. Then they wonder why their platform is being threatened as a true contender.

I use my iPad for my Fitbit app since my husband is already using our iPhone for his own Fitbit and I don't want to have to keep signing in and out to view mine. I also like the larger view of the app on my iPad. As everyone else has already expressed, it is extremely inconvenient to have only ONE app that doesn't have landscape mode available... not to mention downright AGGRAVATING! I go back and forth all day to view my Fitbit app and, again, the inconvenience in constantly turning the screen around - and then back again - is a daily irritation. Fitbit has made some wonderful changes in me in just a short period of time and this ONE thing is the only negative. Please consider allowing this function, and, if necessary, redesigning it to function correctly and efficiently in that mode, since others have cited some problems with typing in the landscape view. Thank you.
I join others in suggesting that the Fit bit dashboard be viewable in landscape mode. What's strange is that sometime the dashboard flips to landscape and I don't know what I did to get it this way. It inevitably flips back to portrait mode and I can't get it to go back. When will Fitbit provide an easy solution to switch and stay in landscape mode for the dashboard view? I use it on my iPad and I use all my apps in this mode.
All of the comments have been interesting to read. I'm a senior (approaching 80) and thought the issue may only bother me. I strongly agree that there should be a Landscape Mode. Lack of this mode is most annoying when using an iPad Pro with attached keyboard. With just a Portrait View from the Fitbit App, one must tilt their head sideways to view the screen. Turning the iPad with attached keyboard is not an acceptable maneuver. I'm an experienced computer and tablet user who uses many apps including iBooks Author. The Fitbit app is the only one that I use that doesn't offer this convenience. Surely, Fitbit can accommodate tablet users. I may have also consider switching to another monitoring device. And I'll be sure to pass the word along. Fitbit, PLEASE and thank you for considering this matter!!!!
Please make the Fitbit app for the iPad usable in horizontal (landscape) mode, rather than being fixed in the vertical (portrait) mode. I was so surprised to see that after installing the Fitbit app on my new iPad last June '17, it only displayed "sideways". It's sideways to me, since I always have it stationed at home with a keyboard, which when used, the screen must always be in the "horizontal" position. No other app on my iPad (at least so far) makes me have to read sideways. I always sync my Charge 2 with my iPad, and then view the daily and weekly stats from there. I literally do have neck issues, which this just aggravates.
