Lock Touchscreen to Clockface

I'm finding over the course of the day and while sleeping my Surge's touchscreen becomes switched from the watch face to one of the other screens. It would be very helpful if there was an ability to hold down one of the physical buttons to lock the touchscreen on the watch face and repeat to unlock. This would prevent accidental navigation away from the watch face. Please consider adding this functionality in a future firmware update. Thank you.

Moderator Edit:

The latest Surge firmware update added a function which reverts Surge to its clock screen after 15 seconds. Some users would prefer to continuously view another data tile, such as Steps, Heart Rate, or Distance. This is no longer possible for more than 15 seconds outside of starting an Exercise log.

This existing Feature Request represents a good solution to the issue, and I encourage anyone who might be interested in this new feature to vote or comment in this thread.

I just bought the watch and I'm very disappointed that I can't lock the home screen to keep it from returning to the watch face. The main reason I bought it was for heart rate monitoring. I'm using the workaround that the previous poster suggested (I pull up the "workout" screen and leave it there to get continuous HR), but it would be so much nicer if I could just lock the watch screen to the HR, or to steps taken, or calories burned, or whatever. Why can't they implement a feature where you can choose whether you want to lock on a certain screen, or return to home screen after xx seconds? This is a matter of maybe 10 lines of codes. Either that, or just add an option to include some of the other items (HR, cals burned, steps taken) to the watch face so you can always see more than one bit of information.

I voted on this issue - I'd like to see the ability to lock it on the number of steps.  I didn't buy this as a watch, I bought it as a fitness assistant to track exercise and heart rate.

I voted for this issue, also.  This is not the way it was when I first purchased it.  You could go to any screen you wanted, any time you wanted and it would stay on that screen.  People with long sleeves started complaining that somethime the shirt sleeve would change the screen.  I live in AZ, so I rarely wear long sleeves so don't have this problem.    Now I have a battery problem as I probabaly slide to the screen I want thousands of times a day.  Not sure why they never put it back to the way it was.

Actually it did not go to the clock face when I purchased it last February.  They changes it in either March or April and even after all the complaintsm they won't change it back.  It was that way once, so they should already have the code they need.

I suggested they put a little lock icon in the corner of every screen to hold that screen. Touch it and lock, touch again to unlock. Could be programmed from phone to have that feature show or not. It can be done!!

Not going to read through 17 pages, so if this was mentioned, sorry for multi post.

I would like to lock in other screens like the clock is locked in. Say I am working out and want to keep track of my heart rate, I would like to lock that in and not have to swipe every 15 seconds every time I want to see it. It would be a nice option to maybe set a default screen in options that you can change for whatever you like. Like the lock option mentioned above as well.

lol. I still get notifications for this thread and half amuses and half irritates me. Even after all this time, after all the complaints, after all the lost customers, Fitbit still refuses to even acknowledge a poor judgement call. I have since sold my surge and purchased a Pebble Time Round. It might not have a HR monitor but it stomps anything Fitbit puts out. And they don't have to resort to breaking the functionality of a device to get customers to buy a newer product. This will be my last post as I will be unsubscribing to this thread. I wish the lot of you the best and hope you get back what you already paid for. As for me, Fitbit will never get another cent from me. Good bye.

I AGREE! If the programmers you have can't figure it out, hire someone, even a consultant, who can.

Wow..... It's been almost a year and nothing has gotten done..... I took matters into my own hands and returned my fitbit surge, charge and hr charge..... I will never give fitbit another penny. I bought a fitbit zip to use instead; and, it had been replaced 3 times due to malfunctions. I will be purchasing the version 2 Apple Watch...... I have never seen such poor response to customers in my life!

This would be a great idea! Please make it happen! Its super frustrating to look down after a long work out and see that it was paused 5 minutes into it! So choked. Hopefully this can be fixed with a simple upgrade and it wont mean that i have to buy a new watch.

I've found the touch screen is being knocked during workouts. This results in workouts continually pausing and starting or finishing them all together! Such a pain especially when you finish a workout and realise it's been paused since the beginning! A lock for the touch screen or deactivation of the touch screen to start and stop the workouts would be a great idea. Stopping and starting should only be able to be done with a side button so this doesn't keep occurring.

This also happened to me during a 75 minute yoga session... It paused at 67 minutes. Was lucky to get a majority of the workout, but sad all the same, especially when it became apparent from the reading that I am burning way more than I had previously thought... 400 calories for an hour? I had been logging half that amount. I googled "Fitbit blaze lock screen" positive there was a way to lock the screen (because, really, it would be a bit nonsensical to NOT have that capability) and, clearly, this isn't the case. I really hope this is in the works and is possible for an upcoming update, not that I have a true understanding of the tech.

Another issue is my toddler constantly playing with the screen while sitting in my lap.

We all know why it's vital our phones and tablets have lock screens, and they aren't being jostled and bumped into nearly as much as they would be strapped to an active persons wrist!

Love the blaze, please fix this clerical error!

Please fix this. It is very annoying to have the screen revert back to "clock".

There are other reasons to also have a lock screen button. My fit bit surge frequently stops during my cardio kickboxing workout sessions. I've come to find out that the double right side buttons depressed when they rub up against my wrist wraps and the exercise monitoring will stop. This has happened multiple times. We need a way to lock the screen so accidental presses of the button don't lose your exercise tracking

I had an Apple Watch and sold it as I was more excited for the Blaze and wouldn't need to wear a smart watch and Fitbit at the same time. A feature I really enjoyed was having the option for the screen to return to the clock face once it's been off for a while. I often check my steps but don't press back so when I go to check the time quickly I can't since it is still on steps. It is inconvenient to always have to remember to hit back several times.

This happened to me today as well. During a 30 minute kickbocking workout. It only recorded the first three minutes. I believe the wrist wrap I had on must of arely touched the pause button. If not a lock screen them maybe a feature that would require you to drag the pause button or finish button into a circle to confirm the action.

It would be good for this to be an option that can be chosen by the user for those who want it. Personally, I like how it stays on the last screen I was viewing, but I can see how some users would prefer it to go back to the clock.

It would be awesome to return back to the clock face so during work I can use it as a normal watch.

This has happened to me two or three times when using the watch to track exercise. Around halfway through I checked the current stats (thus waking the screen) When I lowered my arm the watch vibrated twice, and the exercise tracking was over. Possibly my coat sleeve had brushed the display, but this really shouldn't happen. I want to view my exercise as one complete walk, not two or three smaller walks because I've had to restart the watch tracker.

It's very annoying and I've gone back to tracking exercise on my phone app to avoid this. A lock screen or drag to confirm the exercise is over would be a simple way to rectify this.

I totally love this idea. Everytime I want to see the time the tracker showed me the last thing I saw on it.

Hope this can be a feature soon Robot Happy

First exercise with my new Blaze this morning. Did a 75 minute kickboxing / resistance workout this morning and had to restart the exercise tracking 7 times before giving up and continuing on with my workout without tracking. Very annoying to put on a glove and feel the vibration telling you it stopped, pulling the gloves off to start it again, putting the gloves back on only have it buzz at you again because it stopped.
The charge worked for this and only rarely stopped for me when I bumped the right button. But it's band starts to break after 6 months, I've gone through two. The Blaze was supposed to get around the band issue but this isn't going to work if some sort of lock can't be made.
I really like fitbit and their app but this is making me consider something else.

I was just thinking about this as we went to a parade and I went to look at my Blaze and it told me to look at my fitbit app so I was like okay so I logged into my app and my blaze was then on an exercise screen showing my heart rate wanting me to start an exercise. I guess that is annoying as I am just wearing this daily with my casual walking and yet the screen was nudged just enough that it wanted to start a workout. A lock or something should be set up so that we need to press one of the buttons to trigger the start up.. I dont want to worry about my blaze being accidently hit through out the day as I am not consistently looking at the screen.

The "option" wouldn't be required if the clock faces could also show one or more selectable features, as well as the time. The Blaze does. Why not the Surge? I want to see heart rate continuously, at any time of tbe day, and not for just 15 seconds at a time. If someone wants to see steps AND the time, why is that not possible? Does the software team not have any UX people?

very simply - have an option on the app - that sets the clock as default or remembers the last screen.

You can have it so that during a workout it remembers the screen - rest of time it goes to clock
