Lock Touchscreen to Clockface

I'm finding over the course of the day and while sleeping my Surge's touchscreen becomes switched from the watch face to one of the other screens. It would be very helpful if there was an ability to hold down one of the physical buttons to lock the touchscreen on the watch face and repeat to unlock. This would prevent accidental navigation away from the watch face. Please consider adding this functionality in a future firmware update. Thank you.

Moderator Edit:

The latest Surge firmware update added a function which reverts Surge to its clock screen after 15 seconds. Some users would prefer to continuously view another data tile, such as Steps, Heart Rate, or Distance. This is no longer possible for more than 15 seconds outside of starting an Exercise log.

This existing Feature Request represents a good solution to the issue, and I encourage anyone who might be interested in this new feature to vote or comment in this thread.

I was sad to do it, but when my Blaze didn't work correctly in a 5K on
Saturday morning, that was the final straw. I bought a Garmin FR 235 and
just sold my Blaze on eBay. As a runner, I just had to have something more
reliable and a built in GPS. So, this will be my final post on the Blaze
topic.

I hope for those holding out hope the lock screen becomes reality, I hope
it happens for you.

Return it, John.  There isn't going to be a fix.  Read this whole thread and you'll understand what I'm saying.

Unfortunately some us can't return it. I didn't have the issue until I was way past the return period and they aren't being very helpful with this issue.

Like other have said, boxing and kickboxing causes a big issue with the Blaze.  I made it through a 15 minute warm up without even hitting the bag and had the exercise stop running.  Really like the Blaze but if it isn't going to work I'll be returning this Father's Day gift.

I have found a solution for myself and possibly other women with smaller wrists/arms who have their work outs interrupted by boxing gloves. I have a size Large, and if I put the band on the largest setting, I can slide it up my arm and just out of reach of the boxing gloves. And the HR will still get an accurate reading. I'm hoping this won't be a permanent fix, as I am holding out, hoping that Fitbit will add a lock screen feature sooner rather than later.

Someone from Fitbit suggested that I wear my Blaze on my right arm so the stop button is away from my boxing gloves.  While I am super annoyed that I have to change the way I wear my Blaze to account for the design flaw, this workaround did work and I was able to complete my kickboxing class without my Blaze pausing or stopping the workout.  I am still dissatisfied with the Blaze and when people ask how I like it, I say I don't.  I used to recommend Fitbit products to anyone that would listen but no longer.  I am completely dissatisfied with the Blaze and the company and will no longer recommend them to anyone since Fitbit seems completely unconcerned about listening to their customers.

I agree (blaze user). It should be an option with a adjustable timeout and with conditions:

1. In exercise mode: stay in the current display but allow user to quickly see the time by for example pressing and holding the left button (I alway loose track of time when I run :-). Currently I have to tap or swip multiple times before I actually come to the time.

2. In other modes (like Today, alarms etc): return to clock face after the timeout

I found a pretty simple work around.  I turned the quickview off then took the Blaze out of the band.  When I wrapped my hands I just wrapped the Fitbit with the hand wrap and it has worked flawlessly to track boxing/kickboxing.  Not using the band without the band keeps the buttons from getting pushed during a workout.

Incredibly disappointed the watch doesn't lock during workouts. I have missed and paused every single workout I've done since getting this last week. Going to have to return and use Charge until this Blaze is even viable to use for workouts.

Same here, first HIIT running workout today in the rain with my shiney new Blaze - i kept feeling buzzing on my wrist, just kept going, got home and had 10 runs logged! Not really much help when it's supposed to be helping me improve!!! This need sorting ASAP.

This happened to me today- I was wearing a coat and it was stopping my run. If this is not fixed I will be selling my blaze.

I am just a normal guy working out (spinning, hiking, weights) and in a few days I have had this problem in each workout where my sweatshirt simply pauses, restarts, pauses.  I am now wearing a rubberband around my sleeve, which is ridiculous.  This is poor design but can be easily fixed if they want to.

So far I found the best workaround is to turn the touchscreen function off before working out, then turn it back on after the workout. Since I've been doing this my workouts have recorded the whole time.

It's a bummer to do this, but it's a solution until there is a fix; which hopefully we get eventually get.

I agree! The constant pausing is frustrating! Some sort of solution with locking the screen must be possible?? I've seen several good ideas, for example holding a button in for 3 sec or having to push one button on each side of the watch..

I guess I spoke to soon - my quick fix isn't working reliably.  Still getting only partially through a kickboxing workout before the exercise gets stopped.

Fitbit - do you care or hear us?

Thousands of posts in these forums regarding the essential necessity for a Lock Screen feature. Why is Fitbit ignoring the loud voice of the customer base?

Defaulting to the clock screen is absurd. Step counting is the primary feature. Having to continually swipe away from the clock to the steps screen many, many times each day is a pain. Looking for a product that gets this basic, essential element right. As soon as I find it I will become a customer of that company. Would like to see Fitbit be the first to get this key feature correct.

Does anyone know another tracker that has the Lock Screen feature? Thanks.

This is normal. Fitbit is NOT interested in listening to what customers
want.

At this point I'm ready to give up on the Blaze.  Anyone know if the Surge has the same issue?

A few people want it locked on the clock, fitbit changes it.  Since April 2015, thousands of people want to lock on the screen of their choise, fitbit does nothing.  My next exercise device will be a garmin even though I have been a fitbit peron since fitbit came out.  I was on a waiting list waiting for it.  Fitbit just doesn't listen.

I agree. If others agree, post here as well. Maybe they'll hire someone who actually knows how to program it. If not, next watch- iWatch. And only out of dissatisfaction.

I've been wearing my fitbit since 1/16 and have only had one update soon after I started wearing it.  Nothing since.  I agree that some updates are in order.

Cannot track circuit or boxing sessions at all! Stop/start constantly. Have tried fixing wristband higher on my wrist as even wrist extension seems to knock the pause button. Even something like NikeRun where you have to hold down the finish button continuously for around 5 secs to authorise to finish the workout. Super annoying and seems like a simple fix!

It has been over 4 months now and not once has this company even posted a pathetic, "we're working on it" post on this thread.  Since most of us can't return the Blaze now, I think we should all do our best to make sure other people understand the problem and how this company has zero customer service.  I have made two calls on this already and the response is just as bad as this thread (which, btw, was their only suggestion to getting an answer).  I'm going to hit Amazon first, since many people like to read reviews there even if they don't buy the item there.  I'll figure out where next.

I encourage everyone to do the same.
