Lock Touchscreen to Clockface

I'm finding over the course of the day and while sleeping my Surge's touchscreen becomes switched from the watch face to one of the other screens. It would be very helpful if there was an ability to hold down one of the physical buttons to lock the touchscreen on the watch face and repeat to unlock. This would prevent accidental navigation away from the watch face. Please consider adding this functionality in a future firmware update. Thank you.

Moderator Edit:

The latest Surge firmware update added a function which reverts Surge to its clock screen after 15 seconds. Some users would prefer to continuously view another data tile, such as Steps, Heart Rate, or Distance. This is no longer possible for more than 15 seconds outside of starting an Exercise log.

This existing Feature Request represents a good solution to the issue, and I encourage anyone who might be interested in this new feature to vote or comment in this thread.

I agree with MScott67 if your Blaze is still new to you and you have the opportunity to return it, return it. They are not going to fix this at this point. Many of us have posted in this forum and contacted FitBit directly and they have been of no help whatsoever. I will seriously consider going somewhere else when it is time to upgrade.

It happened to me again 😞 I exercise 3-4 times a week: jogging, trx, yoga.... and it is frustrating to try to keep track of my exercise and realize that after a 1 hour workout my blaze was pause since the minute 3. It even paused once with a rain drop!!! The Start/Pause/Stop should be in one of the three buttons, and not in the screen.

Why on earth, after a YEAR of people literally BEGGING for a screen lock for the Blaze device, has Fitbit not provided any feedback on this issue? Very disheartening that this continues to be a problem. What is the point of customer service if you don't serve the customer??????

When is FITBIT going to respond or act on the subject of a Blaze screen lock?

if it doesn't get fixed soon, we will ALL begin acting with our wallets, and moving toward another company's device.

Fitbit should implement a simple way to lock the home screen to display the heart rate function. Perhaps it could be holding down the bottom right button for 2 seconds on the heart rate screen - easy enough.

Better yet, just add the heart rate beneath the digital clock display. It doesn't need to flash or do anything fancy. Just show a simple two digit or three digit number. If battery life is an issue, consider using a 5, 10 or 15 second refresh rate or just warn the user that this setting reduces battery life. It doesn't hurt to give loyal users this simple choice.

Thanks for your consideration.

My tracker gets turned off several times during each workout!! It's driving me nuts that I have to stop in the middle of a workout to press the button to start it up again! Please fix this!!!

Guys, get on Twitter and give them hell. I have, they seem to not care
about their community forum, but I got responses on Twitter.

Mostly just a bunch of "we will do what we can" bs, but at least they
respond.

Soo I have noticed that it's quite easy to accidentally pause an excerise unintenially. I wear my watch on my left wrist and I think it wouldn't occur if it was on my other arm.

some way to lock buttons during exercise or maybe switch buttons/rotate screen to wear it around the other way to have the two buttons as a mirror image for left handed people.

thanks

I got a response from FitBit on Twitter and their response is they have looked at the forum and it has already been conveyed until their developrs for review and if there's any progress with the review it will be updated. I call BS at this point.

I was the originator of this thread. I just wanted to tell you that I turned off my "lift to wake up" function on my Blaze.

This seems to help the workouts not pause. After hitting "go", the screen will go to sleep but tracking continues.

I am a martial artist and fitness instructor and have successfully tracked my workouts including sparring for the last two weeks.

@Kickkel I have tried that to, but for some reason it still turns on on its on. I think it may be because of the double tap feature that makes it turn on

I really hope this feature comes soon.  Regularly happens to me when cycling but somehow Strava has managed to fill in the gaps so far.  Coming to the point where I am considering a differnt device which would be a shame as I love my fitbit generally

Steve,

Cycling (particularly mtn biking) is also the main culprit for me. I think it's something with the wrist position and gloves that makes it more likely to push buttons on accident.

I've been relying on Strava to fill in the gaps as well. With the Fitbit app alone, the distance and time is all thrown off with the gaps.

Thanks for commenting on this. I hope it surfaces this problem and maybe a button lock feature will be added.

With no solution in sight I searched the internet and found a device that was created and able to print with a 3D printer. My son goes to Case Western Reserve Jniversity and was able to print me a 'cover' for the blaze screen. I'll be testing it out today. Here's to no workout interruptions and zero pausing.

My my last hope.

Too bad bad I can't post pics cause I would love to share.

It seems to work!  But let's be honest...this is something that should be addressed.  I shouldn't have to rig my own fix.

Redsoccer12 - any chance more of these could be made?  Sure would be happy to pay something to get this issue resolved.

FitiBit should be embarrassed by their lack of ability to fix this problem theirselves.

Thanks @Redsoccer12 - have the file downloaded and am searching for someone with a printer locally.

@MScott67 Just an FYI I had to use a rubber band to make it stay on but it seemed to work. I put the rubber band under the blaze and looped it around each side of the guard.  Did the trick nicely.  Oh and my son paid under $1 for it.  The inventor deserves kudos and Fitbit should look him up.

Thanks for posting that link Redsoccer12!  Looking forward to trying this out at kickboxing.

Yup, this is frustrating.  I'm constantly looking at my Fitbit during Cario Kickboxing making sure I didn't pause it by accident.  Annoying to say the least, especially if you are in the zone.  I hate it when I discover after a workout that it was paused halfway through!  Seems like a simple programming request to lock the buttons, so far no response from Fitbit.  Perhaps Fitbit is only good for walking or slower type exercises.

So I think I found a workaround for the Fitbit Blaze and locking the buttons during an exercise.  This should eliminate accidental pausing.  It’s a bit tedious but should work.

After starting the exercise tracker, separate the Fitbit from the band and flip it upside down.  Since the band's outside buttons are no longer in contact with the Fitbit buttons, there should be no accidental pausing when you exercise.  To actually stop or pause the tracking, you’ll need to remove the Fitbit from the band and press the button. I know, tedious right?   I'll experiment this week.

I want to see heart rate on home screen constantly, I hope you will figure it out soon.
