Longer Screen Time for Charge Trackers

I purchased my charge 3 after seeing it would have a Screen Time out Option.  It shipped without one.  Moderator Kate says it’s not available at this time.  The manual is now being changed to reflect that.

I really, really want/need that option.  It was the reason I chose the Charge.  That and my 50’s year old eyes.  The current screen only stays on for 3-4 seconds.  That is a very short amount of time.  I have to repeated tap the screen to read a text that comes in.  IF we are going to have the ability to get notifications, we need the ability to read them.

Please Fitbit, give us the option that was originally in the manual to change the screen time out.  The Versa has it, so I know it can be done.

Then do what one other user on here suggested: Everywhere you see their product, post a bad review outlining the problem with the product and the lack of response from fitbit.  Start affecting their bottom line and maybe, just maybe, they will do something.

I have commented on this forum at least 4 times since receiving the charge 3 for Christmas.  I’ve reached out directly to customer service about 8 times.  Reached out via Facebook and instagram.

Im exhausted and frustrated with the complete and mind blowing silence on what seems to be a simple and reasonable request.

What to do next? Perhaps everyone that has commented here take to social Med for an all out blitz?

Or those that can return do and the rest of us suck it up and buy something else.

The screen timeout is WAY to short in the charge 3. 4 SECONDS

In the manual is an option to change this,

however this is not an option on the charge.

WILL THIS CHANGE ?

I gave the charge to my mother and she can't use it because of this.

I just got a Charge 3 and am shocked I can't lengthen the screen timeout time. Agree with many others that the display time is grossly insufficient. and the technology seems to exist to implement this. I was going to buy one for my dad but I won't until this is changed.

Yes, I hoping if enough people complain, fitbit will fix this feature to be
able to choose the amount of screen time a user needs.

Keep hoping. In my experience,  unless we threaten to march on their headquarters,  they don't care.

Maybe everyone should all email support all in 1 day. We should at least get a answer yes or no if they are doing it. If yes how long? (Bet you they don't even care)

Like I suggest before I think the best balance between battery and screen on time is to have the screen on when you are looking at the time and off when you put your arm down. No need to have any extra setting.

Would be good if someone have a better idea.

Stop making half-**ahem** products. Quality over quantity from someone who'd been with you since day 1 with around 5 products or it would be the last.

I've had my charge 3 for about 4 months. Been complaining since day one. I gave up. Just got a garmin forerunner a week ago and could not be happier now that I can read my fitness tracker. Fitbit just lost a loyal customer. Really sad. I just don't think they care. No support.

This might be a good idea, but how to organize this?

I just want to know IF THEY WILL or are able to implement this option in the future...

Maybe the hardware doesn't support the software,
or it isn't possible to change this option by an update, I don't know about these things.
Other devices can do it. I want an explanation.

It's really frustrating, I've seen this complaint so much,
the only Fitbit staff-reaction I read is they have removed the option out of the manual...

I am completely appalled at the non response of this company. Their lack of customer service is beyound anything I have ever experienced in the past. In my job this device is basically un-usable. Even with this level of complaint they have not responded, thus unsure if they would respond to a blitz.  I would participate in a Facebook blitz if others thought it might help. How do we get it started??

Fit bit is not responding at all !
They dont say they wont or they cant or they will ever fix this problem !! That is why we are still waiting !! They send everybody with complains to this community and let us hang out here where nobody is paying attention to us ! Not fitbit ans also not other (possible )custumers !

If it were not an option,  they would know.   Their ombudsman who used to be in this thread wrote optimisticly about it months ago,  but I haven't noticed any new info in some time.   That doesn't bode well.

Exactly.

Really really bad cs for software developers.

I guess fitbit just don’t care about the charge 3 anymore. For such  an expensive tracker (compared to offerings from Xiamoi etc.) this should have so much more going for it. My biggest issue is definitely the timeout feature. I work I a company with just about 650 staff that were to receive the Fitbit charge 3 as a gift to promote our new workplace based daily step challenge. I think we shall be taking our business elsewhere whether that be  garmin or Xiaomi!

I did switch the the "stats heavy" face which is an improvement for me since I don't need date or day of the week. (I'm retired so who cares? 🙂

But with such a short time out it's hard to read all those stats. I really only wanted to be able to select 2 of my choice WITH a decent clock face. I'd have preferred an analog face but at least now there is a colon between the hour and the minute and it's all on one line so it does work for me.

About the short time out - there is NOT enough time to read all the stats on the stats heavy face. Since I am not a medical professional, I have 2 hands to use and have discovered how to keep the face on as long as I need it to read all the stats. Hopefully this will help others with 2 hands to use.

Just hold your finger on the face over by the edge so your finger isn't covering the info. As long as your finger is in contact with the face, it stays on so you can read it all. If you accidentally tap, it will go off. You must carefully maintain finger contact with the screen for continuous on.

I’ve bought my last Fitbit.can’t use it at work due to super short screen time. Poor customer service/response.

Just tried that. It seems to be working. Thanks for the tip. Maybe thats
how the feature works.

I am retired too

Try this, it worked for me:

Tap the screen once. Usually you would get the clock face. Then hold your
finger on the face over by the edge so your finger isn't covering the info.
As long as your finger is in contact with the face, it stays on so it lasts
longer. If you accidentally tap, it will go off. You must carefully
maintain finger contact with the screen for continuous on.

Oh this is terrible !! While working or training
I do not have two hands ! This is not how the tracker should be working . Maybe a good solution for a few but for most people this wil not work , a tracker of this quality ( and price ) should have a longer screen time without using two ( or any ) hands !!

Yes, I agree with you. In this case. This is just a temporary measure.
There still needs a perm. Fix.
