Longer Screen Time for Charge Trackers

I purchased my charge 3 after seeing it would have a Screen Time out Option.  It shipped without one.  Moderator Kate says it’s not available at this time.  The manual is now being changed to reflect that.

I really, really want/need that option.  It was the reason I chose the Charge.  That and my 50’s year old eyes.  The current screen only stays on for 3-4 seconds.  That is a very short amount of time.  I have to repeated tap the screen to read a text that comes in.  IF we are going to have the ability to get notifications, we need the ability to read them.

Please Fitbit, give us the option that was originally in the manual to change the screen time out.  The Versa has it, so I know it can be done.

@sparkles4 you are so right. There does need to be a permanent fix. This workaround is only good for times when we aren't working out and just want to check our current stats and have time to read the entire screen. And of course, when we have nothing to do with both hands at the same time. 🙂 I really don't understand why they can't fix this quickly with a software update. Or firmware. Or simply come up with new hardware and offer to replace the existing botched product for all who bought it in good faith.

really unfair stuff for charge 3 users. this idea has been rolled out on the newer fitbits and us charge 3 users are still waiting for it. totally getting ignored here...

Hey Fitbit, loving my charge 3. I am unfortunately having some problems, the most important to me is that the charge 3 needs the ability to keep the screen on for longer, such as the feature on the Versa. For the price I paid (€150) I feel this is only fair. It’s almost like the charge 3 is the forgotten watch. Completely unacceptable.

Guys I was wondering if maybe we could all try to get the media involved in this ? Seems like unfair treatment doesn’t it ?

This will help you. I received a suggestion from another user.

Tap the screen to get your clock face or any other feature on the screen
then with your finger hold it on the screen in a spot where you can see
what's on the screen. So long as you hold your finger on the screen it
will not go blank. It will stay on until you remove your finger. Hope
this helps.

Thanks sparkles, although this helps it is not a permanent solution as
while working I only have one free hand. Thanks very much for your
suggestion I really appreciate it.

I agree they need a permanent fix like you mentioned.

I will throw my speculation out there.

When I got my Fitbit Charge 3 for Christmas, it died during the firmware upgrade and had to be replaced. I suspect that there were so many of these that they are simply afraid to push out another firmware upgrade because of the cost of replacing the ones that fail.

Come on Fitbit. Prove me wrong. Prove the rest of the people here wrong who say you don't care about fixing the issues once the product is sold. Prove you care about your customers.

I know I may be acting like I spent millions but €150 is still a lot of
money, quite annoyed.

Fitbit have had it bad in the past, huge recalls on one of their previous
products due to skin conditions (rashes etc) and have always continued to
innovate, hope it’s true for this .

Thank you. But I don’t have two hands free to use a watch. I work with animals. I need one hand on a patient and one on a stethoscope. The watch I expect to be able to function on its own.
Thank you for the help though

Luckly I have had no skin reactions to the fitbits I have had. (Alta,
Charge 2 and 3)

I agree with you.

Well hopefully Fitbit will fix this feature so the screen stays on longer
or be able to set a timer on it.

Good luck with that.

Please introduce this change to extend the screen time to up to 30 seconds with an option to keep it on all the time for a period, it would really help. Keep having to tap the screen to see my stats is just plain annoying! Thank you!

I know what you mean. If I get a long message it doesn't stay on long
enough to read it all. I have to hold my finger on the screen to keep it
on and scroll with my other hand.

We MUST have the clock face on for longer!!  3-4 seconds is ridiculous!!!!    It should be a setting!!!  Fixit!

We should be able to speak to someone personally.
I want to know if they even can implement it.. or will..
