Longer Screen Time for Charge Trackers

I purchased my charge 3 after seeing it would have a Screen Time out Option.  It shipped without one.  Moderator Kate says it’s not available at this time.  The manual is now being changed to reflect that.

 

I really, really want/need that option.  It was the reason I chose the Charge.  That and my 50’s year old eyes.  The current screen only stays on for 3-4 seconds.  That is a very short amount of time.  I have to repeated tap the screen to read a text that comes in.  IF we are going to have the ability to get notifications, we need the ability to read them.

 

Please Fitbit, give us the option that was originally in the manual to change the screen time out.  The Versa has it, so I know it can be done.

Here we are 8 months later since this was first suggested and 0 implementation.  Just got mine literally hours ago and will be returning.

 I have seen how to keep the display active on other Fitbit’s, but what about Charge3?   I need to count heart rates and need the display on for longer than just a few seconds. I do not see anywhere I can change this at present.

Adding another voice to this request. I just purchased the charge 3 and am very disappointed you can't change this setting. Way too short.

I was able to fix mine, got something else, a G****n V4, screen stays on forever.  It didn't help that the Inspire HR was digging into my wrist, even with  the strap loose.

 

 

I think I need to do the only thing to fix the problem too, buy a better companies product. Mine did a big update yesterday so I was really hopeful that it might include an update to extend the screen time, but once again we were let down by FitBit. Time to replace it, and take to social media to let everyone know not to buy Fitbit. The Gold Coast Marathon is coming up so I think their official page might get some info put on it too about how useless Fitbit have been. Thanks for nothing Fitbit team!

Well, I just bought my charge3 so I’ll stick with it a while. I work in an
emergency dept (RN) and will keep a cheapo watch in my pocket for the
second hand.

You're right, AndrewStoneVet, that's what we need to do, talk with our money!  I've written to the company and haven't even gotten a form email response.  They simply keep saying "Great idea!"  No kidding it's a great idea, it's such a great idea it was supposed to come with our product in the first place!  And "Under Consideration" doesn't mean crap, it was already considered and approved, it just somehow never made it to the actual devices, only into the manual.  Make good on your promises Fitbit, let us change our screen time out!

Kenthejeepguy, you'll get sick of that pretty quick. I have tried that and is what I have been doing for months, but enough is enough. I don't think they care and I doubt it will ever be an option on this model so its time for something better. If you can return it I would while you can.

C3 is useles like it is now , what was promised will not happen !  Fitbit is not  responding correct

The only thing left to do is warn as much people not to make the same mistake we did and keep them from beeing robbed of their money

I also would like a longer screen time.  Most of the time I end up having to tap it 3 times in a row to get the info I need just for regular use.  I also planned on using the stopwatch to time my patients but it doesn't stay on long enough to do that.  I was considering returning it and getting the interval HR but that seems to have the same problem.  Please fix ASAP, it looks like hundreds of users have been asking for this since last year.

i dont know what we have to do for fitbit to listen to us. it really does
not sound like a complicated change at all. so annoyed.

Said it before on this and other suggestions that should be easy to implement and are desperately needed to make the Charge 3 work properly, Fitbit doesn't care and has no intention of releasing this option.  Their hope is we just buy a new product because they've moved on and want us to as well...  I mean sure they've had updates but the stuff in the updates is minimal at best and don't address the largest issues with the device ie screen time and  the ability to select and organize what apps we want to see.  Neither of those should be had to address but neither has been even though they've received by far the most votes.

 

I gave up on my Charge 3 a few months ago going back to a Charge 2 that I had.  Unfortunately now I also warn anyone I talk to that's looking at a fitbit or similar device to steer clear of fitbit because of this lack of support which is all we can do.

 

Good luck but don't hold your breathe waiting on them to actually fix anything for Charge 3.

Fitbit is not going to ajust the default ! If it did not happen by now it wont ever never ! They just dont want to admit it and keep on selling a watch that is useless !!

Come on Fitbit, you added an option for variable screen on time to past trackers.

You know that we're want this option. 

 

Why do you make us plead to have this option with every new tracker released?

I think it's time we all bombarded the Fitbit Facebook page about having a longer screen time for the Charge 3! I think it's absolutely disgraceful that Fitbit have completely ignored this issue. I too was hoping the update this week would address the problem and yet again, was let down. I'm currently saving up for a better device from a company that moves with the times and listens to their customers, and won't be recommending Fitbit to anyone!
