Longer Screen Time for Charge Trackers

I purchased my charge 3 after seeing it would have a Screen Time out Option.  It shipped without one.  Moderator Kate says it’s not available at this time.  The manual is now being changed to reflect that.

I really, really want/need that option.  It was the reason I chose the Charge.  That and my 50’s year old eyes.  The current screen only stays on for 3-4 seconds.  That is a very short amount of time.  I have to repeated tap the screen to read a text that comes in.  IF we are going to have the ability to get notifications, we need the ability to read them.

Please Fitbit, give us the option that was originally in the manual to change the screen time out.  The Versa has it, so I know it can be done.

Fester is the right word, but this won't get them to do anything.  They launched a product that wasn't ready, and I'm guessing that they've put zero effort into getting this feature added that they said was in it to begin with.  They have our money. It costs them nothing to keep saying "they're looking at it" so why bother?  They're working  on newer products, not going backwards and trying to fix their defective merchandise.  Someone "looked at it" before the product was released and said it would be in there. It's in many of their other products, a simple feature to allow changing the screen time.  Battery life is definitely an issue, but let me keep the **ahem** screen on while I exercise so I can see my heart rate, the purpose for which I bought the Charge 3.  If I have to recharge more often because I keep the screen on for 30 min once a day, I can easily live with that.  They don't give us that option, though, do they?

I also would like to have a longer screen timeout.

3 seconds is way too short!!!

Seriously guys. You need to start adding the short screen time to twitter so future buyers can see this. Fitbit is ignoring this community site and future customers are probably not reading it. Use @Fitbit @fitbitsupport in your tweet.

I’m done with this whole Smartwatch / Fitness tracker gimmick. Gone back to a good old traditional watch. Two months of a Charge 3 has put me off forever!!!

@snowens1, I've done that.  Pretty much the same canned response we get here. "We always strive to improve our products and services so your feedback is very important for us.  We'll make sure to pass this along to our team."  Blah, blah, blah.  I'm contacting John Crudele of the NY Post this week.

Please give us the info on John Crudel. The more people he hears from, the more serious it'll be taken. Sometimes shaming a company can get them back on track.

Please allow for a variable time on screen timeout.   A couple seconds is too short

Yes, yes, yes please!

It's far too short a time to assimilate.

Hi @PaddyHurley, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can learn more about here. Keep adding your suggestions!

I posted this to Facebook

I bought a Fitbit but when you tap the screen, the time only stays on for 3 seconds. At my age, that isn’t long enough for the time to register in my brain. Don’t buy a Fitbit if you want to use it for telling the time.

So it seems that after almost a year they have no plans to correct this... I just got mine yesterday and its going back...

I like many of the features of the Charge 3. I came to the forums today to see what to do to get the screen to stay on longer, especially during a workout. Right now, I use the fitbit app on my iPhone to see my current steps, HR, etc. HOWEVER, most of the time - the is not convenient or prudent. Example: today I had the iPhone tethered to my earbuds while on the treadmill and had to step off to re-tie my shoe. The iPhone came crashing down onto the belt and shot out the back of the treadmill.

All that could be avoided if the screen would stay on during my workouts, as I would not have to use the app on the phone.

My vote is for adding various time lengths for most occasions, and for a steady on option during a workout

I see that there are currently 1,441 upvotes for this - so it is nice to know that so many customers like myself want this to happen. Soon.

Thanks for listening, I see that

I agree with Yahgiggle, Fitbit has ignored this long enough, its a simple fix and they just refuse to do it. A 3 second screen time is retarded... time to persecute them on social media over this and force them to do what they should've done a year ago. Shame on you Fitbit!!!

These bracelets are unjustifiably expensive I will return this month and I will buy XIAOMI MI 4 which at ¼ of this price does more. FITBIT Shame I also mention that there are big sync problems with Apple's health application, more precisely, I do not sync the data with Apple's alternative port and Apple Watch 4 and simply FITBIT refuses to synchronize data with Apple. Besides the strap there is no argument for buy this bracelet

It would be great to have a way to adjust your screen time-out on the watch. As soon as my eyes get adjusted it goes away!

The short timeout together with the lack of brightness mean the Charge 3 is virtually unusable outside.

Why won't Fitbit respond?

Hi @MomBear, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here. Don't forget to add your vote!

I was hoping it would change in this past update but no luck. Please make
this a priority, it is making the fit bit much less useful.

How is this not a feature by now? Bought this today to replace my charge 2, which has this very basic feature, yet the updated charge doesn't? 1500 votes?

29 days or the charge 3 gets returned.

Its been at least a month since i purchased and posted here. I returned mine within 24 hours and other than these post alerts i keep getting, havent given it another thought. The only way to get Fitbit or any companies attention when it's apparent they don't give a crap is in their bottom line. Anyone who is still in the return time frame, return it and be done with it,,, to much time been wasted i'm sure everyone could use elsewhere lol. I was at the store i purchased mine from the other day and saw a salesman about to sell someone the Fitbit3 and i let both know about the brutal time out issue, they both thanked me and at least then i saved a headache for one more person. I did mention the model up does have adjustable screen time so Fitbit still may have made a sale.

It's been a year long waist of time with no results,,, for those who can return asap. Just my 2cents.
