Longer Screen Time for Charge Trackers

I purchased my charge 3 after seeing it would have a Screen Time out Option.  It shipped without one.  Moderator Kate says it’s not available at this time.  The manual is now being changed to reflect that.

I really, really want/need that option.  It was the reason I chose the Charge.  That and my 50’s year old eyes.  The current screen only stays on for 3-4 seconds.  That is a very short amount of time.  I have to repeated tap the screen to read a text that comes in.  IF we are going to have the ability to get notifications, we need the ability to read them.

Please Fitbit, give us the option that was originally in the manual to change the screen time out.  The Versa has it, so I know it can be done.

After reading all the comments and responses to my post, I decided to return my Charge3. This is my 4th Fitbit. I have had problems with 3 of them. I am a low learner. I really loved the Blaze, but the battery wouldn't hold a charge after about 3 years of use. I guess that's better than some others' experiences. I think I'll try another brand of tracker now. I am hopeful I find something does what I need. Thanks for your input.

And another customer bites the dust and still nothing from Fitbit. After this long we shouldn't be surprised.

They are going under so have no interest in paying someone to make a 5min
code adjustment to keep it's customers happy they would rather lose all
their customers 😂 yep this is the definition of stupid

I agree completely! Is this something that is going to be fixed? I just bought my Charge 3 but am considering taking it back 😞

I hate saying it, but fit bit simply doesn't care. They have told me that they have zero intention of fixing the problem. None whatsoever. My recommendation is to return it. It's too late for me to return mine, but you might want to because they stated they won't fix it. It's the TS principal. They have our money so it's tough s*#t on us.

Already sent mine back. Couldn't read it. Great features, but useless if
you can't read them. Font too small; screen time too brief. Nuff said?

I like the Charge 3 but I am very frustrated that the user cannot adjust the screen display timeout.  Only had it 2 days and am considering returning it and getting my money back.

VERY disturbing aspect is that Fitbit have just ignored their customer's request to provide this functionality for nearly 12 months and it is "Still Under Consideration"... Wow...

I sent mine back. I too liked the features, but the font and screen time
made the device difficult for me to use.

They were very responsive. Return shipping was free and I received
notification they had received the return, and I would have my card
credited in 7-10 days. If you don't like it, send it back. It was very easy
to do.

I agree.  It is very difficult to read the notifications in the short time span especially with the super small font size.  The adjustable screen timeout AND adjustable font sizes are a must.  We live in a real world and not everyone has the 20-20 vision that Fibit expects us to have.

Fitbit..I hate to see the usual response to a comment..."thank you for your suggestion etc...."  A multi-million dollar company with a 20 million loyal user base should treat its clients with more respect.  You have a very limited product range so how difficult can it be to implement these basic suggestions made by THE USER of your products.  The value of your product/service is judged by the USER and not by management.  So at least get your CSFs right and treat our basic product enhancement requests seriously.  Can't you see that most of the comments in the feature suggestions are the result of USER experience?  Fitbit..we - your clients - made you what you are today...it is only due to USER acceptance that the company flourishes.  Most of the suggestions made in the feature enhancement are not rocket science...and they are made because loyal users go out of their way to express their frustration after experiencing the Fitbit product.

Sadly, Fitbit doesn't care about the user. Maybe when they started out they did, but no longer. I've read several published reports that say they are on their way to going out of business. I'm not surprised.

.

Fitbit,

If you are even reading this, look up the word "loyal". Your users have been this. Don't you think it's time to be loyal to your users? After all, without us, "Fitbit" is nothing but a name.

Years ago I had worked a short time for a now defunct company called The Wiz. My sales were just ok, but my returns were zero. Nobody returned products because the got what they wanted. Other associates had higher sales number, but a had ridiculous number of  returns. I tried to explain that product returns subtract from your sales. Nope, they couldn't understand it. Fitbit doesn't understand it either. If people are returning your products, you are losing money!!

While working out, I am constantly checking my heart rate between sets.  I have a hard time seeing the small numbers, which is even harder when the view changes.  It would be great if I could set the heart rate to stay active and viewable with larger font for 30min or an hour.

It is totally unacceptable to cheerfully announce that you will "change the manual" instead of fixing an obvious and fairly acute usability fault. That's like taking delivery of a car with 3 wheels, only to be told "Oh thank-you so much for pointing this out, we will reprint the manual."

The screen timeout is ridiculously short and makes it very difficult to gather information. Seems like information is no longer the design goal of this device? Merely the collection of several hundred dollars from 10's of thousands of people?

The screen timeout option needs to be inserted/re-instated into the software (that is no doubt shared across several devices), and pushed out as an update. ASAP. Customer's are not stupid - many of us work in the software industry and can smell familiiar B.S. when it is being blown around.

Another poster has alluded to battery life being the concern of FitBit developers. Is this true? If there is someone on staff pushing this nonsense because they are concerned about losing the claimed "7 day battery charge", then you need to tell them to stop claiming 7 days battery life. I'm sure the battery could last 10 glorious days if you completely disabled the screen. You might squeeze another day or two out of it if you disable the acceleratometers and the heart rate sensors too!

Seriously, don't "think about" fixing the screen timeout issue. Do it. Quickly. I'm very tempted to send this watch back and ask for a refund. After that I will tell all the people I know how useless the device is because they made some very stupid design decisions.

Please, please add a screen timeout option.  I thought I could use my Fitbit clockface to check patient vitals only to discover that I need to go back to my old watch... This is very frustrating.  I don't really want to have to wear both on my wrist in order to track my movement and do my job.

It's pretty ridiculous that I'm sitting at my kitchen table to write this post, but here I am.

Allow us to change the length of time before the screen goes dark. 4 seconds is not enough. Period.

I was reading a different post with the same topic: there were 33 PAGES of unhappy customers with the same complaint. If you are a literate Fitbit employee and you are reading this, know that this company will actively lose customers if they continue to ignore their requests and complaints.

Hi @Thomas_Buonanno, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about having the option to change the length of time before the screen goes dark, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here as it is currently Under Consideration. This helps maintain the Community and the Feature Suggestion board more organized.
