Longer Screen Time for Charge Trackers

I purchased my charge 3 after seeing it would have a Screen Time out Option.  It shipped without one.  Moderator Kate says it’s not available at this time.  The manual is now being changed to reflect that.

I really, really want/need that option.  It was the reason I chose the Charge.  That and my 50’s year old eyes.  The current screen only stays on for 3-4 seconds.  That is a very short amount of time.  I have to repeated tap the screen to read a text that comes in.  IF we are going to have the ability to get notifications, we need the ability to read them.

Please Fitbit, give us the option that was originally in the manual to change the screen time out.  The Versa has it, so I know it can be done.

I am unable to read it the screen while running. The screen stays on for only 3 seconds! I will need to return this and revert back to my apple watch.  I will continue to monitor your website and repurchase once this this has been corrected. I do prefer the software features of the fitbit over the apple watch but I also need to be able to monitor my heart rate and time while running.

Please update the hardware/software ASAP. This is a deal breaker for me and it will be returned to the store in few days if issue not addressed. Is there any Fitbit employee testing out the features? If so, they should have noticed how useless the Charge3 is with just 3 seconds display time. Listen to the users and fix the problem.

I agree

screen time is ok when i am not running but when i am running screen time is too short to read all items on the screen

always tapppng and twisting my wrist is not good gor my focus during excercising

A main use for the Charge 3, after fitness, is to take vitals. The screen needs to be on for more than 20 seconds, not 3 seconds! This is needed even if it reduces battery life.

Also, the stopwatch and timer need to stay on as long as they're running! Not just 3 seconds.

Please fix this ASAP!

Hope the company will listen to the users. We all know how online negative comments can impact sales and be damaging for their product lines. I will definitely not recommend Fitbit products if our complains not taken into consideration.

I’ve had my device a week now and I am growing more frustrated and angry. The timing out issue in the home screen is bad enough but it is also an issue when you get a text.  Bad enough but add that to the micro font and I’m ready to scream. What in goodness sake were you thinking?

This is beyond waiting for a user vote. This borders on defective and needs to be addressed immediately.

Merry Christmas!

Recieved first fitbit device today, the Charge 3. Beautiful aesthetic. Simple and functional but I'm finding most of the functions will not serve their purpose.

Cannot risk holding onto the 'Advanced Fitness Tracker' while the device cannot be used as a real time analysis tool. You cannot view the screen during activity for longer than ~3 seconds. Not acceptable.

I'll regretfully approach my wife about returning her gift, feeling horrible about it, and I do wish the display would stay on, problem solved.

I'll be looking at a MyZone... I need a fitness tracker, not a message forwarder/inferior payment system/broken stopwatch (no display)/ wrist pain from twisting to activate display again and again. Disappointed...

Good luck getting Fitbit to fix this issue. 2 months and thousands of complaints. No response. Useless junk

Please add the option to lengthen the screen timeout. It's really inconvenient when you're trying to check patient heart rates, or even trying to read notifications with the short default time alotted.

I have already talked a couple of people out of buying the charge 3. Wish mine wasn’t passed my return time because I would return. It’s a shame because this thing would deserve 4 and 5 star reviews if it were not for the screen time out.

Merry Christmas! Just gifted wife, daughter and myself with the fitbit charge 3. So excited to try it and am finding it very cool. However, the screen timeout is driving me crazy - enough to dislike the experience. I am returning all three watches.

Screen timeout needs to be updated, vote for it!

With all of the comments and dissatisfied customers I am seeing about the short timeout on the Charge 3, one would think that someone representing Fitbit would care enough about loyal customers to respond. After noticing that my new unit barely gives enough time to read the time, I decided to research to find a solution and came across this page. According to the logo at the top, I assume this forum belongs to Fitbit. Does anyone from the company actually read it?

This short term clock view is a pain without doubt. I have noticed however that if you touch and hold the screen the clock will stay on until you remove you finger. This might help some in the short term until a real fix is applied.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. It's absolutely mad that it only lasts for 3-4 seconds, EVEN WHEN YOURE ON STOPWATCH!!!.

It's incredibly dumb that, when I'm using my stopwatch for my workouts, or measuring my heart rate (Which is another thing I'm mad about, which is that my heart rate is usually WELL ABOVE what the watch tells me it is), it turns off after 3-4 seconds, which severely ruins my workouts, as I time each exercise.

This should not be a user vote.  It should be common sense because it is making the apps on the watch useless.  How do you recommend to others when you don't know if they will ever fix it. I don't usnderstand how they can continue to ignore this and except anyone to  be happy with the charger 3.

I completely agree.  The Charge 3 is almost unusable as a watch due to how long the display stays on.  It would be great to have a way to lengthen or adjust the duration of the display.  Thank you.

I completely agree!  With the short duration that the screen stays on, there is not enough time to read the clock and any other stats on the clock face.  Please provide a way to change how long the screen is on for.  Thank you.

I am rethinking whether I will keep my Charge 3.  It is starting to look like a return.  I am concerned that if Fitbit is ignoring such obvious and widespread feature requests (longer screen display/timeout and 24-hour clock display) for years, that it means they probably don't care about their customers.  Like they say, "When someone shows you who they are, believe them!"

Fitbit users have been requesting configurable or longer screen timeouts FOR YEARS, and are apparently being ignored or strung along.  Why wouldn't someone at Fitbit have taken this seriously before now?  Maybe because they don't care about us after we have made our initial purchase?  Maybe a competitor's device would be a better idea?

I discovered a small work-around. As long as you keep tapping on the screen every few seconds the clock doesn't disappear. Also the display cycles trough different measurements along side the clock. It's not ideal but it helps a little bit.

Please create an option for increased display time.  I see it’s been requested often, but will do so again.  Working in the medical field we need our clock to display seconds for at least 15 seconds.

My wife really likes her charge 3, but we will likely be returning it becuase it doesnt have a way to keep the clock face on longer.  She needs to use the clock face to count the heart beat of her patients, and can not be shaking her hand trying to get it to auto respond.  The timer function also times out.  She can not be concentrating on trying the light up the charge 3, when trying to wrestle a 100 lb German Shepard.  She is having to bring a second watch with a timer, which makes the charge 3 less convienient.  Please update the charge 3 so we can keep it.

@Sweettalkeril  One way around the screen time out is to use the countdown timer. It gives a strong buzz when reaching zero without having to look at the watch. In some situations that can be more convenient.

Nevertheless, it's much desired to have a longer time out option for the screen display, even if the battery life is shorter. As it is, the display has to be hit a few times anyway before the face can be read, especially with the small fonts. VERY ANNOYING TO HAVE SUCH A SHORT TIME OUT!!

I was so excited to get this as a gift, however, it looks like it will have to go back.  If I’m wearing this as a watch, I need it to function as one.  I need to be able to view my display for AT LEAST 15 seconds, ideally 30, for taking vitals.
