Maintain Fitbit web dashboard going forward

As an older user, my eyesight and hand eye coordination are poor. So, I prefer the website dashboard on my PC. That dashboard keeps directing us to the mobile app. Please assure you will continue maintaining both as I cannot rely solely on the mobile app. Please consider all of your customers when providing tools. Many thanks!

Longtime Fitbit user, I've had over 8 fitbit devices.  Owned 3 Charge 4's, stopped upgrading when they dropped the altimeter.  I've been considering moving to a watch. If the browser Dashboard goes away, I'll be looking elsewhere.

@InsomniacYes per your advice, sent feedback to Google Disability Support at https://support.google.com/accessibility.

@KBenjamin, I have a case number, so I  think they do have concern about my accessibility issue.  I just took a look at that watch, and it appears that it is also limited to a phone app?  There are some people on reddit and a blogger who say the watch is identical to one sold on Aliexpress and in real life doesn't work too well.

It appears to me that Garmin does have a way to share the data between a mobile phone and a computer.

Fitbit (Google) may be breaking the E.U. directive "The Web Accessibility Directive" as found at the following link https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/web-accessibility

@InsomniacYes Thank you for the much-appreciated response. I'm waiting on my case number and received an automated reply that they will respond within 24 business hours. Meanwhile, I recently bought a smart scale from Garmin and couldn't get it to work. Not only was their tech support slow and the documentation non-existent, but when I finally got help, the person was really snarky and rude. So, no Garmin for me. I'll say this in Fitbit's favor, their tech support is fast, friendly, and helpful. But if I'm going to the trouble of transferring all of my menus to Cronometer for long range calorie and macro balancing (plan on the weekends so that I'm focused on work during the week), I don't care about syncing devices to app. I just want the device to help me track calorie burn and sleep quality. Spade is not only less expensive than both Fitbit and Garmin, but gets really high marks with both of the boxes I need checked. When the Fitbit I currently wear dies and if the web dashboard issue is not resolved to my satisfaction, then that is the direction I'm headed.

I love using my Fitbit to track my runs and see how my weekly parkrun has gone, where I was quick and slow, how my heartrate varied (along side my pace) and altitude on the hilly course where I run.

Easy on the webpage...

Is it possible on the app. Can I design new pages with the info I want? Or do I have to export to excel, via word, create, graphs and then take a look?

Very sad if today's will be the last time I can see my data. (It just doesnt all fit on one phone screen) (in truth I would like to be able to see the map and the three graphs a bit more easily, rather than having to scroll up and down.

I'm so surprised the dashboard for laptops is being discontinued. I've been a Fitbit user for 10 years and this makes no sense to me. It's the best way to monitor your progress, keep track of food, and see what you've done each week. The app is just okay for quick checks on step performance and a few other things. Why are you doing this?

You're watches have declined in quality significantly over the years. The first couple I purchased lasted for years. Now when I buy a new one, I make sure to call in as soon as there is an issue, to get a back up watch, and if I'm lucky I'll get two years out of paying for one watch. As I'm reading reviews and consumer experiences, it appears I'm not alone in my views. What are you trying to achieve here? It's not making sense to me.

Please do not discontinue the Fitbit dashboard.  I do not own a cell phone.  The reason I chose Fitbit when looking at trackers as one feature you advertise is you do not need a cell phone.  To remove it now is false advertising.  It is like buying a car with 4 wheels only to have the dealership come and take away one of the wheels down the line...it renders the product useless.

I'm thinking the same thing too. When my FitBit stops working I may be
headed to Spade too. It is definitely less expensive and also like the
reviews. They certainly need to resolve this.

I doubt they really care. They have decided, and the hell with their clients. Fitbit is a microscopic part of Alphabet, and killing the division wouldn't affect its profits or reputation. Look at what they have done to their search, including three pages of sponsored results, before you get to anything like what you want.

I completely agree.  I have been using Fitbit on my computer and my phone since 2013.  I am 69 years old and much prefer reading and typing on my computer.  I only use my cell phone app when absolutely necessary.  I am hugely disappointed that Fitbit will be discontinuing access via a browser (did I say that right?)  Please do not do this.  Please.

Keep allowing access to my account in a bowser. The app is NOT GOOD ENOUGH! Try to not be jerks about this.

I've been a loyal fitbit user for over 10 years. I pay for the subscription. I don't want to use the app. I want a large screen that is easy to read on my computer screen. For the first time in 10 years, I'll be looking at alternatives to Fitbit. This could be a deal breaker for me.

I feel the same, the watches have been declining in quality over the last 5 years and I’ve been thinking about it, and and this adds to the challenges with the brand.

I am guessing that with the app, we would be leaving ourselves open to being spammed to death by ads on our cellphones.

The thing is, if Fitbit had come out and said that they'd continue desktop access for a small fee, I'd have gladly paid it.

I admire your ability to live without a cellphone in today’s world.

Thank you for sharing this perspective, when they bought it, I felt it wasn’t for the business itself but for wrist access, as it becomes more important.

Everybody has a cell phone, not everybody has eyes that can read tiny charts on a cell phone screen. Aging happens to everyone who lives long enough and almost everybody's eyes have trouble focusing on close and small screens at some point. This is not an unusual or uncommon issue.

I can type up to 70 wpm on a keyboard. Having to type on a tiny cellphone is not nearly as efficient. Being forced to use an app is a huge waste of time for me. I chose to take my fitness needs to My Fitness Pal, where I can still use my desktop computer.

Thank you, I agree with you. And my guess is that younger people are having eye issues earlier in life because of their heavy use of cell phones.

I'm glued to my PC with fullsize keyboard and multiple monitors much of the time.  Its a productivity platform.  The cellphone is a crippling platform for me.  I have no need for an electronic leash unless my car breaks down.  So, I use a burner cellphone minimally, but try to remember to bring it along when I exercise.  Its got an ancient version of Android and a tiny bit of free memory, and the only wireless data I use is via Wifi connectivity.  Its officially un-supported by the Fitbit app, but the old app still works more or less.  Because the Fitbit app assumes broadband connectivity, if I forget to start it while in range of my Wifi, I'm screwed.  The web-based interface is critical to me, and I'll probably go rogue and use some python scripts under Linux to pull data from the Fitbit once you pull the plug.  Buh-bye.

Thanks for sharing your challenges with this decision. I’m struggling with up-to-date technology in both cell phone and laptop.
