Make Heart Rate Data export in Excel/CSV format

Please add the heart rate data to the reports that can be downloaded/exported.  The ones for the activity and sleep are perfect but since I have a pacemaker I really need to have one to print out for my cardiologist showing how often I rise above the set pace.

Thank you

Dear YellowZ06,
The BMR that Fitbit displays in your Profile is not your BMR, sorry for the news 😞

The change you're seeing is actually a change in an "index" (think Body Mass Index -- also not your Weight, right?):

Fitbit's "BMR" is merely using your change in weight and comparing it to a population of 250 people that had your previous weight, and then other people with your current weight, then giving you an average from those people. It's confusing and should be stopped by Fitbit (and MyfitnessPal, Spark People, etc.).

Instead, you'll need to measure your metabolism. The only low-cost mobile phone one is Breezing, and the lowest cost clinical one is going to cost you $100/measurement (at least). Best!

Actually, I mispoke there. What I really want to track is my resting heart
rate.

Agreed, Ed. Heart Rate tracking is very interesting, and being able to use Resting Heart Rate as a good indicator of Wellness is important.

Please do search for "Export my Resting Heart Rate" feature requests. I will look as I really like the idea too.

Best!

Agreed. It is the single most important metric for me. I keep meeting
people at the gym who think the number of steps they've done in a day has
direct correlation to their fitness. Obviously not true.

Also, I did have a BMR test done by Kaiser. Cost me $50 bucks but now I
have a more precise threshold to use. I'm an old retired guy and I
struggle with keeping my weight were I want it.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I wouldn't expect much from Fitbit on
being able to download our resting heart rate data. I've talked to someone
sitting next to me on a plane recently who works for them and apparently
their algorithm for calculating it is part of their secret sauce and if
someone could get all their data into Excel, they might be able to reverse
engineer what their formula is...

Ahh yes, your plane neighbor's logic makes sense.

I have recently met one Dennis Bell, recently retired in Tennessee somewhere -- he's applying his engineering background to KISS and tackle the essentials. I was just visiting his first website a moment ago ... where I think he's starting to offer coaching based on his success using:

1. the RMR that you had measured with Kaiser
2. chest heart rate monitor (though a possible compromise is the wrist-strapped Schosche Rhythm+ which I have used for 1 year and regularly validate against my Polar H7 chest monitor)
3. Calorie counting, now and then, well accomplished by Fitbit App.
Hope this finds you well & optimistic!

I'd like to put in my vote for heart rate data export.  Clearly, Fitbit has the data to be able to show my heart rate charts, but I haven't been able to export the data.  I'm looking forward to the feature.

We pay for apps like runtastic mountain bike and road bike, pay $140 for our Fitbit but can't get my heart rate data onto my runtastic app!? WTF! Then it should t be so expensive.

I agree, would like the same histor on hr as other markers

I understand the complexity of exporting full raw HR data over long periods of time (amount of data, complexity of how to best format, etc.).  A couple of simple options that might be helpful are:

1)  Export the daily resting HR value.  You already show this in a graph in the dashboard, but just like body data (weight, BMI), add to the data export.

2)  Provide minutes per day in different HR zones.  You already do this in a way in the activity export wherey you have active, very active, minutes, but give that type of data versus actual HR ranges.  You could base this off absolute ranges (essentially HR histogram bins), or use something like THR or Karvonen percentage ranges based upon the profile data for age and calculated resting heart rate.

I realize these do not provide detailed, minute by minute, or beat by beat data that some are looking for to track abnormal events, but would start to provide users with some data they could use for HR based overally fitness/activity tracking and be relative simple additions to the existing capability.

This is an important idea.  I bought the Charge HR as a way to monitor a heart problem and to be able to share that data with various cardiologists around the world who are kindly trying to help me.  The fitbit seemed a great way to capture vast amounts of data that can be quickly analysed and all without having a bulky monitor strapped to me permanently (which I have done for some time).  The graphing facility in the app is poor as it is not detailed enough and the lack of a work around through an export facility that cannot be that difficult is an oversight. I can see there may be issues with the quantity of data being generated but that is not insurmountable.  PLEASE include this as a feature or at least make the app better on an ipad so we can use the data collected.  I would be even more impressed if you came up with a way to collect ECG data.....  I would also like an alarm that triggers on a given event such as a limit being exceeded (for me I need to keep below a certain level).  Make that an alert that can be silenced by the wearer or that then escalates and you really start to get into life saving territory.  Come on surprise us!

12 pages, approaching 500 votes, year and a half old.   they obviously read the thread and don't give a toss.   glad I sold my replacement one and got my money back.

The problem is "life saving". They can't have the responsibility of
providing you an alert or warning or even the data for your cardiologist.
Too much liability. That ain't gunna happen.

I was just about to pay for premium - but I mostly wanted heart rate data. Premium is useless to me without it. I'm very disappointed. I bought the HR after bypass surgery and two bouts with pericarditis. This device is all about heart data for me. How is it you can collect it, and I can go back and see it all on the regualr page week by week, day by day and yet you don't allow it for export? Sheesh.

Why hasn't this issue been resolved? This seems like a basic feature that is not available. I want to chart how my resting heart rate has changed over time, not just the past 30 days. Please implement this soon!

Another vote from a new user disappointed in the lack of an export on the heart rate data. Please add this capability.

Like others, I have heart issues; I bought the Charge HR assuming I could download my heart rate data for my cardiologist.  Please add the ability to download heart rate data.

the zoom in navigation and scroll features must be implemented in phone apps too

I don't have any health problems.  I just want to compare my heart-rate data when exercising between sessions, and my recovery time.  It can't be hard to export say 10s interval heart-rate data.  There must be a reason you're not making this available - what is it?  Especially irriatted as I asked whether this was possible before I bought the device (I don't care about steps or an app tracking how much food I eat) and was told I could do it.  Do I have to return my now sweaty fitbit?

Seems a bit crazy not to be able to download heart rate data and resting heart rate given how vital a stat it is.

Fitbit.. Please advise on the development priority for this feature and if we can realistically expect to ever see this developed?

Like many others I got the Surge HR due to heart issues so I / Cardiologist could pull intraday logs to analyse (trends, high/low, resting, sleeping, etc...) and disappointed Fitbit doesn't share the data with the owner. I was planning to download from Google Fit (via google takeout) like I did with my old Moto360 but it seems Fitbit restricts this data sharing also. It you have a closed system please at least develop basic export features.

I do wonder how long the "We're still working on making automatic heart rate data available for export." promise has been dangled and if any work has actually taken place.

Their lawyers won't let them.

Somehow Withings lawyers figured out a way - all the data is shown and easy to download from my Withings blood pressure cuff. Admittedly and more rigorous device but they have the same sort of disclaimers about the data accuracy as Fitbit. So while their lawyers may be telling them not to, I’m on my last Fitbit if they haven’t changed their policy by the time I need to replace my device.

Okay, giving up on this & Fitbit..  Sending my newly purchased Surge back and going back to my Moto360.

So for anyone not aware, if you have an Andriod Wear watch you can access the raw heart rate logs that your watch takes from Google Takeout (select only Google Fit).  You might also want to install Cinch as this app allows you to request HR readings every 5 minutes (which it shares with Google Fit).

I've had my Fitbit HR for several months and felt it was about time to download my data and start to do some analysis of my own.  I was disappointed to find that ther was only basic daily  or activity data available to download.  I'd always assumed that, if it was my data, I would have access to all of it!  Please fast track access to detailed heart rate data.  It would be interesting to know how  often heart rate data is stored online - is it every minute? every 10 seconds?  I'm a bit of a statistics nerd and would love to get my hands on my stats.

Obviously, I don't know what it would take to get this information technically, but it looks like you guys are working on it. I know the info is there because I can see it from day to day on dashboard. Which I assume is stored in a database. Honestly, I have no problem with (while) charging to gain this information. For me, it would also be a time saver, because I let the battery get low and not knowing it (using GPS on biking and hiking) and it would force me to charge a bit while gaining the infor.

Surge rocks and will only get better with time 🙂
