Make Heart Rate Data export in Excel/CSV format

Please add the heart rate data to the reports that can be downloaded/exported.  The ones for the activity and sleep are perfect but since I have a pacemaker I really need to have one to print out for my cardiologist showing how often I rise above the set pace.

Thank you

Olbow, the other issue is that this would be a one-time data transfer from them to you. Working out the translation isn't difficult from an IT viewpoint, but you'd have to repeat the process every time you wanted fresh data.

I agree that this is ridiculous - there seems to be zero feedback from Fitbit, and I'm not sure why they even have these forums.

I agree - all the moderators seem to do is be put in a difficult position by having a go at you for being negative??

My Fitbit (Charge 2) is now in need of charge every day or so.  So I need a new one - in light of this situation, I will not be buying another one from Fitbit, even though I like their products. I feel let down and disrespected by being ignored like this - I thought Fitbit were better than this. I will be buying (probably) Garmin.

Exactly right.

Fitbit personel: how do we take this further within the Fitbit organisation - i.e. What's the complaints procedure?

Those of you who have already done the GDPR request: Could someone please post instructions on how to do so? I would love to contribute to the cause, but do not know where to begin...

And it's not surprising that the data is difficult to work with at this stage - they obviously don't have code that neatly packages HR data. Otherwise they wouldn't have a reason to give us what we want.

They have API code and it works fine! I collect HR data for over 2 years now. Over 8000 measurement points a day. Fitbit is the most easy device to collect data with. Collecting data from Garmin and Polar is a hell of a job.
So if you need help don’t hesitate. Multiple people have offered in this thread to supply the data.

@AukeL could you tell us something about what method/language you use for this? Perhaps even some code, if it's open source?

Hi

You are missing the point - it is possible to do but only when we work it out ourselves.  Fitbit should be providing this functionality so it is easy and straightforward for all their customers.  Instead, they have not done so and worse, they simply ignore their customers.

@arlauer92  if you go to https://www.fitbit.com/be/legal/privacy-policy#your-rights-to-access you will find the email address for sending GDPR request to access your data. They will send you a TSV file, that I was unable to exploit.

I'm a long time LifeTrack user and they've gone out of business. I want the features that their LifeTrak Brite offered. I used this data to send reports to my doctors/cardiologist. Have anything comparable?

@everone : just tried this solution from Barry and it works like charm. Had to try twice, didn't work on a first day and then today I exported 3,5 years of HR data in a few seconds ! Thank you Barry, I donated for your work 🙂

Barry, this is Oak Tree.

I started this a couple of years ago and have been disappointed with the
supplier's intransigence but impressed by the number of people voting with
their feet!

I have just used your Squash System and downloaded all my activity, heart
rate and sleep records since Xmas 2015 when I was first given it. I have
made a donation - thank you so much.

I could not find an appropriate email address at fitbit.  Please be specific

@TrendyTreky the privacy-policy linked by @Olbow shows the relevant email address for your country in the last paragraph of the chapter. If you prefer not read through it, search for "@" and you'll find multiple email addresses throughout the document.

Thanks for the supportive comments, Oak Tree!.....and for the donation of course....

I also want to be able to zoom in. That's thb e whole point of buying one. Also to create alarms if hr raises and no exercise or moment detected.

@SpO2 There is no country list on the page linked.  There are 4 '@'; 2 to privacy@fitbit.com. and 2 for data-protection-office@fitbit.com.

@TrendyTreky the page linked is fitbit.com/be -> looks like this is the country code for Belgium? Perhaps they are all the same. I don't know. Use the email address mentioned in the section "Your rights to access your personal data". It's all explained there.

How did this LifeTrack thing look like? Can you upload a screenshot? Maybe we can be of help to you

@AnneChungNo idea, since I don't know the product.  Fitbit is very closed about introduction of a heart rate data feature for personal data.  They provide it under the EU GDPR requirements in a TSV format that is not well known nor defined.

AukeL

Yes you’re correct. We can read it and supply HR data for several years now. Not a big deal. The Fitbit fitness tracker is a wonderfull device for doing so.

@AukeLAre you able to get data direct from the device (Bluetooth) or do you need the TSV files? (which I have not yet been able to access.)

AukeL
Runner

No, I read .json files from the Fitbit API and they can be processed into csv files.

I don't know what you guys think you're protecting by making it hard to get an overview of heart rate changes over the long term, or hiding max heart rate each day, or making it impossible to export your heart rate data over the long term. However, I can tell you that it at least for me it erodes good will towards yours brand. And to this point I'm someone that has bought more than one of your more expensive products.
