Make permission for text notifications optional on Android

I understand why permissions are required  ! (in the APP , am android user).

BUT ,  SMS permission should be optional , right now its NOT.

if I don't need SMS notifications pushed to my tracker/watch why is permission mandatory ?

Me and may be lot of people are not comfortable giving access to SMS / call to ANY app on their phone !!

We’re happy to let you know that this already exists as the Fitbit app will allow you to select if you want to grant the permission to access certain phone features. While leaving the SMS text messages permission turn off prevents you from receiving phone notifications on your Fitbit device, it won't interfere with other features such as syncing. To learn more about the Fitbit app for Android devices, see this help article.
