Make “premium” features free

Dear Fitbit,

Until recently I have been very impressed with the caliber of Fitbit products. That was until you started providing features that consumers have to pay extra for. When I spent AU$270 on my Fitbit Charge 3, I did not expect to have to pay an extra $80 per year to utilise its features. This is a view that seems to be reflected widely in the Fitbit community.

My suggestion is that Fitbit stop charging its loyal consumers for features that ought to be included in the purchase of the Fitbit device. The purchase price of a Fitbit device ought to include all features present and promised within the device. For example, if and when Fitbit finally releases the SPO2 feature it promised when we purchased the Fitbit charge 3, I expect that to be a feature that I can use without additional payment.

I look forward to hearing your feedback on this proposal.

@joggerj look below and tap on the link that says help. This opens your online Fitbit manual. Type in a phrase and search, in this case we search for "data" and find

How do I export my Fitbit account data?

Don't see any mention of the Sp02 data that the tracker is suppose to have a sensor for, so does that mean they falsely advertised their product or are just not letting us have all the data?  That's my question.  I'll have to download my raw data later to double check but I bet that data isn't in there.

Yes, it would be great to have access to our stats without having to pay for the mostly useless Premium.

Firstly, premium should be free. This is an expensive device, and it's already tracking my information. Its dumb that I have to pay even more for my information.

Secondly, why is the step notification not customizable? 250 steps is nothing. I'd like to be reminded when I'm not hitting 500+/hour.

Third, why is there not a voting feature to these comments. Even a thumbs up or down to be able to track users thoughts about new ideas. Simply and would save people time.

I have been off this website for a while and now that I am back , I had some difficulty getting into my  account to see my stats.  HHMMM  it seems someone thought it a good idea to start charging us.  OMG  thats wrong.!!!  When a senior is on a fixed income there is really no extra money for this kind of expense, so it is my guess your going to loose a lot of customers. Many of my older friends can barely afford to have enough groceries to last thru the month.  They like to exercise and would like to keep track as they walk in groups and share their numbers.  Oh its a shame that you stopped making the ONE and the inspire is really a bad replacement.

@CompJunky you might not see anything about the SpO2 sender because as we all know, Fitbit, for most users, has not enabled it to collect data yet.

I think Fitbit should simply rethink what is in the Premium offering.
We should have free access to all our (raw) stats, like the aforementioned heart rate during sleeping and everything the device collects really.
The Premium offering should only include services that are based on the collected data. For example, personalised training/dietary plans, data analysis etc.

Fitbit Premium includes extra personalized insights, dynamic workouts, advanced sleep tools and guided programs, whereas both Premium and non-Premium users access basic insights, access to export data and health & fitness tracking. All the Fitbit app features you enjoyed before Premium are still available for free, and we’ll continue to add new free features in the future. Fitbit Premium adds new paid features, but does not remove any previously free features.

While we don’t currently have plans to move Premium insights and features into our free app, we always appreciate the passion and creativity that comes out of this Community. Since we know this idea is important to many of you, we have left voting open to continue tracking interest and will post another update if anything changes. I would love to see the features on premium available to non premium users loving the free 90 day subscription

i see that there is a 90 day free trial out there to help people through Covid 19. For those of us who already subscribe and pay monthly is there an option to stop payments for 90 days?  Would help those of us with lower earnings now as a result of the pandemic and ensure existing customers are treated the same as new.

thank you

I agree with this wholeheartedly! Not fair to punish those of us who are already subscribers. I mean where is the gratitude in that? After reading about this today, If it is not offered to everyone including current subscribers I WILL be cancelling my subscription. Cannot abide by unfair practices.

@Fitbit we love your products because of the data and insights. BRING OUT THE ADDITIONAL “PREMIUM” METRICS (dashboard, sleep, wellness, insights) from the ‘Fitbit Premium’ paywall. Keep the video/content etc behind the paywall but let us see our data and insights.

The only reason I have been choosing Fitbit over Apple Watch are the insights a

In the data collection world, it's commonly considered that all data generated by a piece of hardware is owned by the owner of the hardware. In buying a FitBit smartwatch, I own the device and all data it generates should be made available to me as it is my own data.

Versa 3 is a good tracker with great features, however without premium subscription it is equivalent to a 50 dollar pedometer with heart rate capability. All the good features (already available on device), like HRV, breathing etc are all hidden behind a paid subscription.

Why not reward loyal customers with free benefits Now this massive take over by google.? long term customer that been helping build the data base for the food calorie aspect for the fitbit app should be rewarded. Also those that have stuck with fitbit for years really should have a big thank you.

I've been using fitbit for 10 years, with the HRcharge and the inspire. Up until yesterday, i was able to use all the features, for free, and suddenly i have to pay to see the data from my fit bit on my dashboard. It seems I'm not the only one with the idea that we should not be charged for this service, especially as long time users.
