Just woke up. I've gotten a 75 sleep score before when I've gotten less than 6 hours of sleep. How is it that me sleeping close to 8 hours also gives me that? Makes no sense
In general, I like the idea. However, a better option would be to provide users the option of choosing their sleep target metric, like what is available for fitness. This would be a choice between things like sleep score, sleep time, time to fall asleep, amount of deep / REM / light sleep, proportion of the same, etc. Then, whatever is chosen will be displayed on the primary dashboard.
Could we get an update on the status of removing sleep score?? Last night I slept 11 hours, which felt great, and woke up to a bad “sleep score” which I honestly just never need or want to see again. How demoralizing, after getting the best night of sleep I’ve had in weeks. I just want an option to turn off sleep score - it was something many of us never asked for and never wanted to see, and forcing it upon us so prominently is a good way to get people to leave fitbit for other trackers that show more useful information.
@Russell_UK They have split the sleep score topic and claim the 12 pages of complaints in 'How to turn off sleep score' are solved. Really?!
Divide and conquer?
Distraction is a technique used for toddlers. That is the way Fitbit is treating their customers.
Goggle is always 'listening' as history of their leaks has proven over and over again. How vulnerable is our data with the buy out? How valuable for sale?
I posted this elsewhere but am copying the relevant parts to this thread: I really do not appreciate the passive aggressive/evaluative messaging around the “sleep score” and VERY much want to be able to disable it/make it optional to see. I am a very overworked graduate student who is trying to get as much rest as possible and interested in tracking my sleep—but I do NOT appreciate having numerical “grades” and phrases like “Put sleep first” thrown at me when I’m already exhausted and anxious about a lack of rest. Please just allow those of us who would like to to turn this off, or at least make it secondary to hours slept (so that I can choose when to click to see it). You are doing a disservice to the many users whose difficulty around sleep is exacerbated by calling attention to poor rest.
@MAStanton Not to add to your woes, check the solved 'how to turn off sleep score' thread. We are not getting any action and they are splitting hairs with different titles to trivialize our concerns.
I don't get the snarky comments under my sleep score (ionic) but my Mrs does on her versa, and it's really not helpful to be told off when it's not something you can really change.
Add in all the battery problems everyone seems to be having and fitbit are really not doing great at the moment.
After waiting and waiting with no end in sight, I made the jump to a competitor. Sorry Fitbit, but this 6 year user officially says goodbye. I've been using my new device for a little over a month and feel like I am actually sleeping better because of not stressing about my sleep.
Evidently Fitbit has decided to torture its customers even more... Now if you look at your sleep on your device, the latest firmward update for Versa (and Ionic) displays the dispicable "sleep score" just below time slept. This confirms that neither management nor engineering pay any attention to their customer base.
I now own an Active 2 and wearing it on my left wrist and a Versa 2 on my right wrist... currently happier with the Samsung except its floor counting is really poor and its battery doesn't last as long.
I just saw the recent update, and I liked what I saw! Hours slept, plus sleep score side-by-side, sleep score even being displayed in sort of a secondary font! When I click on it, the first chart I see is the sleep score, but the very next chart when I swipe to the right is the hours slept, with the weekly average bar! And no need to tap full screen and doing 10 more steps to see it! And also I can see both sleep score and hours slept for the recent days in a list below. Everything is quite reasonable - the way it should've been done from the start, in my opinion. I like it! Thank you Fitbit!
I know there must be developers who worked on this change close to this Holiday season - big thank you!!! And also there could've been some lead/PM who finally said f this sleep score politics, I am going to be courageous, do the right thing and listen to our customer - big thank you sir or madam!!! Whatever reorgs may happen in the future, I am as a customer very grateful to you, it feels like Fitbit is possibly again the company that I knew, liked and trusted, and that we customers and you the company don't have to be on the opposite sides of the barricades! In fact look at all these holiday shopping sprees - people do like to get rid of their money, but they never like to feel being fooled, and this is how it felt when there was this force push for the sleep score these last 6 months. I am not speaking for everyone on this thread, but I always liked Fitbit and I understand that bugs may happen and what is important to me is not the lack of bugs or mistakes, but the willingness to hear your customers and make corrections. Please, Fitbit, stay the Fitbit I knew! Indestructible devices that I do buy new version not because something broke, but because I genuinely want a newer one; and the best appever!
Anyways, back to my point. Whoever is responsible for this decision, I thank you personally if you had to go against some forces within the company. And if later things don't work out for you in exactly the best way, I know there are companies who would appreciate hiring someone who does not bend to the party line, and is a strong customer advocate! Guys like you make us customers wanting to spend our hard earned money on the products your company makes, and this is where most of the companies ultimately get their money from! The harder resistance you had to overcome in order to get this implemented, in the final weeks of December - the more you can emphasize it in your resumé forever on, because it was the right thing to do!
I don't take the time to post a comment trying to contribute to the thread only for it to be deleted as "spam" twice. What's that about. Nothing offensive was in it.
I don't see any real new update, Anton. You could always go to the 'sleep average' graph (swipe right to left from the sleep score graph) and see sleep averages for weeks, months and years. Or go through "community", then, "what are you up to" and then click on 'sleep tile' to see what was basically our old default view of sleep averages for every week by scrolling down. Those have always been there.
What appears to have changed is that just recently we were given a new 'comment' next to your sleep score that said something like "Catch More Zzzzzs", which was only more irritating to the people already feeling insulted by the sleep score and grade of Poor, Fair or Good. But that new comment seems to be gone from my device as of today. I knew people would not like seeing that. It was seen as a snarky almost sarcastic remark. I don't think anyone wants to hear catch more zzzs along with their sleep score when they already know if they had a subpar night of sleep as it is.
The next step up would be making sleep score optional, like the title of this thread is called, which they claim is still under consideration. That way people can CHOOSE what their default sleep page view will be. Either 'Sleep Average', like it's been for past many years, or the new 'Sleep Score' view (which is still pretty much USELESS to most users) like it is now. Fitbit has definitely lost customers over this, which will only continue, so it makes sense to make the sleep score optional as soon as possible so everyone wins. I can personally live with it as is because I can still get the numbers I need with just a scroll or two extra. But admit it was better the other way when default view was the sleep time and weekly averages on opening page.
Sleep score is useless. What was the logic for changing it from hours slept? It has gone from a positive user experience to a strongly negative user experience, to the point where I'm considering other devices.
This was a mistake by FitBit's product management group, that PM group needs to fix it.
The sleep score is useless, random, anxiety-inducing, and comes across as a blackmailing ploy to get us to subscribe to a service we don’t need or want in order to view our personal data that is already being tracked.
side note: Direct charts for each sleep stage would be cool, too, although at least there’s the stacked bar chart.
Who on earth in the fitbit team decided to introduce sleep score? The worst feature decision ever. Did you aks the users? A lot of people struggle with their sleep. Scoring sleep does not help their situation. It does just the opposite. It makes them feel even more anxious to go to sleep. This is not a game. Sleep should never be scored. Get rid of it or at least quickly introduce the option to turn if off. You had an excellent sleep tracker. Not anymore. Focus is wrong and misleading and it hurts a lot of people. Only option we have now, is to take off our watches at night. Done!
Can anyone from Fitbit respond to these numerous requests asking for the sleep score to be optional?? Is it under consideration? Does anyone see/hear any of these comments - which have been constructive and politely asking for this adjustment. Hello? Anyone? Thank you.
Just wanted to see if I could envoke a response.... I agree— its really disappointing that they do not have customer contact, feedback... Shows how important or unimportant customers/customer service is to your business.
Looks like I’m joining the dark side and getting an Apple Watch. The sleep score issue was not the single issue, but was certainly the last issue that persuaded me.
Looking for easy ways to export my history out of Fitbit so I can import it into Apple. Welcome recommended threads.
First off I too hate the sleep score, I've posted so, many times... however
Sadly Fitbit has the best sleep metrics, I have read that Garmin is getting closer and they might even have better heart rate measurements but Fitbit is the best. Also note, just about all of the fitness watches include some kind of sleep score and not all fitness watches measure REM.
Apple is not a solution with their weak battery. They may get in the ball park when they fix that issue but then you know . . . apple products always charge premium prices. Apple's competitors are simply to good at what they do and they charge far less. Apple is really not a reasonable solution if you are into fitness.
And finally changing to another competitor means I lose a ton of data my Fitbit has accumulated. On the semi positive side, some of the watches (Garmin) will take some of the fitness data (steps) and add it to their data base. But I have yet to discover a competitor that will also snatch the heart rate and sleep data.
So right now we are stuck with a good but flawed product. And a company that is not responsive to a simple customer request. Perhaps, by the time my Fitbit breaks, and it will (I've had 4 of them thus far), the other competitors will not only catch up but will also be able to snatch my fitness data and add it to their database.
Fitbit users have been complaining about the Sleep Score feature since August 2019 (over 5 months now). When are you going to release a software fix for this? It is so frustrating not being able to see my average sleep HOURS each week (not Score). Yes I could calculate it _manually_ or go to the desktop version of Dashboard (which I never look at), but that is very convenient. Why can't this be a option that users can choose: 1) Average Hours or 2) Sleep Score. I don't see why this should be taking so long? PLEASE please consider making this fix for all of Fitbit users who have been using your products for years and years and REALLY want to track and improve our sleep. Thanks so much!
