Mood and symptom diary for mental health tracking

It would be great to track mental health and wellness in a diary within the app. There could be options for moods, symptoms, emotions, appetite, and ranking the day in general from 1-10. There could also be optional reminders to check in multiple times throughout the day or just once a day. This could help so many of us struggling with mental health issues or even just stress to recognize patterns and get to know our minds and bodies better. It would build mindfulness into our schedule and help connect sleep quality, exercise, and nutrition to how it affects our wellbeing.

Great idea! I would love a mental health addition to the app.

Hi! I think the app misses a category 'mindset' maybe an extra categroy on the dashboard with your general feeling of the day for example a mood tracker.
Or after an exercise the app could ask how your training went and how you're feeling. Also maybe extra space for thoughts about the training so you can do better next time.

Hi @mortonboots, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see more mood categories for mental health tracking. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

Common symptoms in changes in mental health include: trouble sleeping, changes in eating habits, decrease in activity, and irregular peaks in heart rate. Since fitbit already has the tools to monitor these things I thought it would be a good idea to pair with psychologists to develop a feature that can detect these changes, notify, & offer support.

Hi @HeyyItsMayy, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about being able to detect and confirm changes in mental health, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here to keep this board organized.

I would love an opportunity for users to track their mood, mental health, etc. on a daily basis as well as a space to journal their thoughts and reflections from the day. I've been doing this on pen and paper, but I would love to see an electronic version of this as a feature in Fitbit so that everything is in one place.

This post didn't show all of what I'd included. Here are some of my reasons for why this should be added:

  • Tracking your mood on a regular basis can let you discover patterns about how what you eat is affected by your experiences that day
  • Giving yourself a place to reflect on the day lets you be honest with yourself
  • If you were frustrated with yourself for falling off the wagon, you could get all that out instead of carrying it with you the next day
  • If there were a "memories" feature (last month, you posted ____), you could see how far you've come mentally AND physically

It doesn't have to be anything fancy; just a little text box (like the one where you comment here) with a place to write down how you're feeling, have it saved, and let it be private. It'd be awesome if it let you select your mood(s) from like a drop-down box or something, but essentially all I'm looking for is a place to journal my thoughts during my fitness journey.

If you'd use this feature, please comment and tell me how you'd use this feature if it existed!

Mental health IS physical health. I dont know how a leading "health" company can miss the other HALF of what is health.... disappointing...

Having a section that has a place where you can log your mood/ feelings. Some examples would include: Happy, Sad, Angry, Annoyed, Anxious, Confused, Very stressed, Very self conscious, etc.
This could either be having a button for each, or even a slider that could be how say, happy, you were day compared to a usual day.

Can you see the option Stress Management under Discover → Health and Fitness Stats?

That already offers an option right now to log your mood manually and it also does some automatic calculations. When you select it it will show on your Dashboard.

Not sure if that's only for the Sense or also for other devices, but you should try to find it!

Fitbit does not allow you to log your mood (i.e. happy or sad) , sleep satisfaction or energy level (i.e. tired or rejuvenated)

Google calendar has a daily mood sticker. Something similar that asks me about my motivation, mood, energy levels. 5 star rating perhaps.

This is the best suggestion ever. When I had some mental health problems my psychiatrist through LifeStance, recommended me to record my moods and other stuff. Then there were no such applications, so I was keeping a diary which I have till now. This helped me a lot to pass over some moments, and thank a lot to my psychiatrist because without him, I was going to be a mess now. However, if you feel stressed or demotivated, talk to someone or to a specialist. Believe me, this will help you a lot, and you will deal with everything easier.

I know this has been requested many times but I just want to reiterate how important this is. If you could have our mood on the dashboard then we can scroll through the days and see, I wasn’t depressed or anxious when I walked more or exercised. Levels of moods; mildly depressed, moderately depressed, severely depressed would be so much more help.

I would love to be able to track my moods/symptoms in the fitbit app... along with medication. Currently I have to use 3 different apps... but would LOVE for it to be all in one

Yes, we need mood tracking added to the dashboard! A variation is available under menstrual health tracking and it’s a mindfulness technique, as well as allows people to gather and share accurate data with their health care provider.
I don’t know why Fitbit is dancing around this one. A similar request with hundreds of votes is referred to a third party app. We don’t want another app, we want the data to correlate with everything else we choose to track with Fitbit.
I get that moods and emotions are difficult to capture and pinpoint. But come on Fitbit! You can figure out my sleep but can’t give me a few emojis to tap on daily and then put into a graph that I can overlap with my food water sleep and steps?

Generic daily mood tracking would be good. At the end of the day you could select a mood from a simple list on the app and track mood over time.
