Music controls on Sense 2/Versa 4

Restore the ability of users to control audio playback from their smartphone through music controls on the Sense 2/Versa 4. This is a basic feature on previous models that has been removed.

i cannot believe fitbit removed this feature on newer watches. I just upgraded from the versa 2 to the sense 2 for christmas….. and i am extremely dissatisfied. i may return it for this reason alone. Fitbit please add this feature to the next software update…. sincerely many disappointed fitbit wearers.

When I bought my versa 4 fitbit put me under the impression that it would have music all I want is for fitbit to add music capabilities to their watches

I'm also incredibly disappointed that I cannot control music from my phone with my Sense 2 like I could with my previous Versa. What a hassle to have to stop jogging and pull out my phone to adjust something or to try to do it while jogging. Why does Fitbit remove features when making a new device?  The only changes on a new device should be ADDITIONAL features.  I traded in my Versa 3 device to "upgrade" my device.  I wish I'd kept it instead of getting the sense 2.  Music controls are a common sense feature that should never be removed.

I just did a support chat session and the person said it was available on my Sense 2 and I needed  to Open the Settings app on your Fitbit device then Bluetooth then Restore Music Controls.  Under settings on the device, there is no Bluetooth.  I will be returning my new device ASAP.

I just received the versa 4 as a birthday present. My previous versa 2 was on its way out. I am beyond disappointed an UPGRADED version of the watch does not have ability to control music playing from the watch. I’m a fitness instructor and my phone is often plugged into a stereo at the back of the studio and I really valued being able to adjust volume, pause and hit next without leaving the front of class. If I had known this feature was removed I would have never opened the watch and would have returned it.

I just upgraded from Versa 3 to Versa 4 and lost that functionality.  This isn't a "feature that should be added" but is rather a marketing stunt "feature that was taken away" to get me to buy a more expensive device.  I literally only want to tell the time, count my steps and miles, and control my music.  My 9ther watch was just worn out so I upgraded.  Huge disappointment.

What a naked money grab trying to push people to Pixel watches. It won’t work. You’re going to lose me to an Apple Watch next time if this feature isn’t added BACK to the Sense. Shame.

This is my third fitbit watch (previously had the blaze and the versa 2), and now I have the versa 4. So far, I’m enjoying it; the calls function is nice! But why would they add something great like that and take away another great feature- the music control? Hope to see the music controls back in an update - please!!!

I agree. I'm a fitness instructor and have always used a watch to stop and start music so that I don't have to move from the front of the room to my phone if I'm working in a studio that does not have Bluetooth and requires me to plug into an auxiliary jack. It makes no sense why this feature was removed.

Please restore music control feature. I’m a runner who doesn’t want to pull phone out to control music!

Seriously, please update Sense 2 to have music controls! I definitely would have purchased something else, had I known you did away with music controls!

The lack of music control is making Apple Watch look much more appealing! When shopping, I didn’t even look for music control because I would never dream that the Sense 2 would not have that ability

bruhhhh I got my Sense 2 in the mail yesterday and was SO EXCITED until I realized this morning I hadn't set up my music control preferences yet.... I Googled how to set it up only to find THIS THREAD 🥲 I'm so devastated but after almost 9 years of being a loyal Fitbit customer...I am returning the sense and making the Apple Watch switch. It's a sad day. 🥺

Hard agree. Never would have bought the Versa 4 had I known it would be a downgrade from my original Versa in this respect. Wish it wasn’t too late to return it.

PLEASE include basic Bluetooth music control in an update or as an App.

Since Sense 2 connects to my phone by Bluetooth, I do not understand why any developer thought it appropriate to remove this basic functionality of blue tooth paired devices.

I agree with the posts above that:

1) the ability to hit pause, play, or fast forward on simple watch face is a great safety feature during activities, MUCH less intrusive than pulling phone out of pocket or digging under winter hat to try to tap ear device at just the right cadence while active

2) I am very frustrated that Compare function on FitBit site did not mention this REDUCTION in functionality as I “upgraded” from Versa 2 that was no longer reliable after 2.5 yrs

For me personally, letting Spotify or other music app be functioning through phone is perfectly fine.  But I will

sorely miss being able

to have simple

controls for the music playback on my wrist — and that will effect my decision about longer term relationship with FitBit.

We all makes mistakes

We should fix them when we can!

Hey Fitbit developers, it seems there is a strong will from the whole community towards having more functional interaction with the watch and the phone, like music control.

Will you consider adding those functions?

I mean I am looking at my friend who has an apple watch and I am shy to talk about the features of my Fitbit versa 4 🤣

I'm very new to the Fitbit scene and decided on purchasing the Versa 4 since I didn't really want an older model. I've heard good things about Fitbit and decided to give it a try. I thought since the Versa 4 was advertised as a smart watch (which is what I wanted and even looked at Apple and other smart watches for fitness but ultimately chose this one) I would be able to listen to music through it so I wouldn't be using my phone as much as I am now. I was wrong. I'm very disappointed with this lack of feature that I'm honestly thinking of sending it back and getting a refund. I'm not sure if the newer Fitbit is really worth the money.

Please put the ability to control music back on these watches. There was a demand for this feature in the first place and to see it removed is absolutely ridiculous when someone shells out a fresh $300 for a device.
