Music controls on Sense 2/Versa 4

Restore the ability of users to control audio playback from their smartphone through music controls on the Sense 2/Versa 4. This is a basic feature on previous models that has been removed.

I ended up returning my sense 2 and buying an Apple Watch instead thanks to this missing feature. The Apple Watch does everything the Fitbit does and more, and does it way better. If this feature was available I never would have made the switch, so thanks!

I was so happy to upgrade from a charge 5 to sense 2 yesterday. But I’m so disappointed about this “smart watch” not having music control! 😞 luckily haven’t open it yet. Because I’m returning it. I’ve been a Fitbit user for many years. But now I’m moving on to a better option. Really disappointing.

Super disappointed versa 4 no longer has music controls. Please add them back, would never have upgraded to the 4 if I realized it did not have them and I am considering returning and switching to an Apple Watch instead

Music control was one of my most-used feature on my Blaze and Versa 2. Why in the world would you remove this function in the Versa 4? I never would have upgraded if I’d known.

Please add a basic music control feature that many older and cheaper tracker devices have. Pause, play, and skip tracks would be sufficient.

I bought my Versa 4 yesterday to replace my Versa 2. Disappointed to see it doesn't have the music controls anymore. This was very useful when running. Fitbit can you add this feature?

Very much this. I did a lot of reading on Versa 2 and Versa 3 comparisons and mentions of Spotify was everywhere, even with offline storage for music on one of them. Ended up buying Versa 4 without doing much reading on it and turns out I can't even like the song that's currently playing or change to a new one from the watch. This is such a basic feature, I think music controls should be put back. It makes a lot of sense to have this ability when you're on the go, exercising or just when you're at home and music is playing on the speakers.

If we can have Google Maps navigation on the watch, why not Spotify Connect & Control? Please put it back.

It's not even a third party app, it was developed by fitbit

Please bring back music capabilities (controls/storage) on Sense 2, Versa 4, and upcoming devices.

I purchased a Sense 2 for my son to replace his old Fitbit.  The absence of music controls was a surprise for both of us. Not checking the reviews was an oversight on my part.   Returned the Sense 2, purchased a tracker from another company, left a negative review for the Sense and added my vote to this site. It will be a while though before I consider coming back to Fitbit even after they correct this oversight.

Face the fact guys! Fitbit, once acquired by Google, is dead. Just compare what they did with Google watch and Sense 2. One with lots of features and the other with least minimum features! Google is trying to make us forget Fitbit!

Yes, cmon, even basic fitness trackers have music control at least, why not have it on the smartwatch?!

What an absolute joke of a product, guess it's to be expected from a google owned company though. Will be returning my sense 2 shortly, a smartwatch that can't even control music isn't very smart at all.

Can't agree more @Loonman

I was going to to buy a Sense 2 - but when I realized they took away music controls, I decided against it. Music controls were my FAVORITE feature about my Sense 1. I cannot believe they'd take it away. I really hope enough people upvote this and get their attention. What a sad thing to take away. I probably won't buy a FitBit at all now. I genuinely care that much about this feature.

A classic case of "don't fix what's not broken". This really makes me sad a customer for 10 years. I really hope they return this feature at next update.

Hi All,

I am adding my disappointment and frustrations to the group!

I had waited a long while for my refund of the Ionic, used a versa in the meantime, got very excited about a new Sence and now do not have access to don't of the main features of my old Fitbit watches.  I should have done my research, as I assumed that all Fitbits would have music control as a feature.

Please, Fitbit, I have used the music controls on my Fitbits for years! In a PE lesson, it is incredible to be mid-lesson, mid gym and stop and start the music! I will have to get a refund and look for a new watch. Is there an opportunity to add it as an update?

Kind regards,

Please add the feature back! I rely heavily on it as a PE teacher!

I just got the versa 4 and found out it doesn’t have the option to control my music. I’ve always brought my phone on jogs anyways so I don’t need to download music to the fitbit, but I did appreciate being able to pause, skip songs and adjust volume without pulling out my phone. I would really appreciate this feature being brought back.

I'm so disappointed that as I upgraded from Sense to Sense 2 I lost one of my most beloved feature. The ability to control the volume and tracks of what's playing on my phone.
As a night time routine I used to start an audio book, meditation music or other on a timer and set my phone on my nightstand charger.
And as I relaxed, I used to be able to lower the volume to my liking directly from my wrist, on my first generation Sense. Also when I occasionally half woke up before accomplishing sleep, I was able to return to previous chapters of an audio book.
(I'm not even going to get into the fact that the lowers light setting in night mode is so much more aggressive on Sense 2 in this discussion)

In what world would removing such a perfectly lovely and sleep healthy application a positive ?

Not sure why we all keep writing in here as it looks like they don’t answer or look at these.

Switched from a Samsung watch and to not have basic music control feels like a very serious downgrade. Please add music control to the versa 4, it is not a smart watch without it. This makes this watch a very basic step counter.

Very disappointing.

I use this feature multiple times a day.

@Tisaman   Why do we keep posting? Good question.  I originally added my comment as a bit of therapy for my frustration with Fitbit, I’ve moved on to another vendor but still see update email when this blog is refreshed.

I’m amused by the repeated posts from the moderators asking people to only submit “one idea per comment” and that the volume of posts are a factor in making feature decisions. First, customer’s are not responsible for making life easier for a commercial enterprise.  Secondly there is no reason to believe the concerns raised here  are factored into the decisions about feature content when existing features are being removed.  It is more likely that this was a calculated decision to move people into other, more expensive products offered by the same corporation in order to retain desired features.

in my case it partially worked, I did move to another, more expansive fitness tracker, it just wasn’t Fitbit and it wasn’t Google.

The versa 4 and sense 2 have turned into the LEAST smart watches. Fitbit has removed most of the apps and many of them are quite useful. I am considering returning mine also. It's dumb to REMOVE apps from more "advanced" watches.
