Naming/Labeling Alarms

Hello,

Wouldn't it be nice if you allow us to name the silent alarms? For example: an alarm to wake up, one to drink water, food, one to remind me of something such as an important meeting, etc...

Your feedback is highly appreciated.

Best regards,

Setting an alarm , for every 1 or 2 hours , with an positiv mantra.  Just for good feelings .

Yes, Yes, yes.  I found something similar to this posted back in December, 2016, so this idea has been around WAY too long and not implemented. This would really be useful. Today, I had an alarm for a dentist appointment and one for meds. I forgot my meds because I thought the alarm was for the dentist. I really like silent alarms on my wrist because they are very discrete. You don't have to pull out your phone. I guess what we all want is for alarms to mature into reminders.

I haven't seen any comments from 2017 asking for this, but it's still something that would be a great feature. I have trouble remembering things some times, so I tried making alarms, but without being able to put titles on them, how can I remember what they're even for?

Hi there

i just bought a fitbit charge and realized that you cannot set any titles on alarms.

this will help a lot with staying organized and motivated.

I work with students who are easily distracted and a silent alarm on their wrist can help them learn better and be more productive.  There are a variety of silent wrist alarms to help students but they do not have the cool factor that a FitBit has and some of them are relatively expensive.  They are sold for use by both adults and students.  If you increased the number of alarms students could look at their day and determine when they are most distracted and how often they need a reminder to remain on task.  These could easily be set up in a fitbit.  Their friends would think they were cool because they had a fitbit and would never need to know they were using it to help them stay on task.

I need this as well! I have wake-up alarms, vitamin alarms, meditation alarms, etc. I can’t keep them straight without labels.

Please add this feature -- and also the ability to select different vibration patterns 🙂

Hey @-Zo-, these are great ideas! Just wanted to point you in the direction of these duplicate feature requests:

Please leave your future comments and votes in the suggestions mentioned above. This will make it easier for our product team to notice them.

Thanks for your understanding! Cat Happy

would like to be able to name alarms rather than just using a time setting as the alarm. For instance, a medicine alarm reminder or meeting etc.

Yes, I want to be able to namely alarms.

All of these comments are most likely not going to do any good.
FITBIT doesn't seem to be progressive in their thinking. More concerned
about rolling out new product rather than
doing common sense changes to software with users who have already bought
in.......too bad really.

Add my name to the list for this feature. Certainly would be great to have a label for silent alarms.

Hello,

As a teacher, we are very conscientious of the time in the classroom. For example, for many teachers, we want to know when there is 5 minutes left in class for cleanup, recollection of goal, wind down time, etc.

With your FitBits, I noticed that alarms for wakeup and bed are possible. If you were to create a bunch of alarms that could allow your FitBit to alert the teacher 5 mins remaining without a sound. Any teacher would love this. Silent reminders.

I acknowledge that your Blaze watch may allow this but it is expensive. Many teachers will find it to be too expensive. However, if you tweaked the alarms section, I firmly believe many MANY people would find it very useful, in many areas. In today's busy world, people would enjoy silent alarms without noise.

There are also so many people who would find this beneficial. A small minor tweak in the code could open up a new way to market all the different FitBit's.

Thank you.

Hi @armen and commenters, thanks for your suggestion.

We're always working to streamline our offerings as we introduce new products. Although it has been a very popular product for us, we will soon stop selling Fitbit Surge. If you're looking for a new device, we recommend considering Ionic. Ionic is a motivating timepiece packed with fitness guidance, health insights, music storage, apps, and more. You can learn more about Ionic at https://www.fitbit.com/ionicor compare the Fitbit family of products at https://www.fitbit.com/compare.

Please note that we’ll continue to support Surge from a software standpoint, along with any questions you might have during your use of the product. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit devices you love and help you reach your goals.

I think your suggestion is a good one, so I took the liberty of changing the label and title so that it is applicable to future products and exercise developments.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feedback with us.

The post was for the Charge 2. Not sure why Surge is mentioned here, but you're definitely pushing the Ionic.

Like many have said, naming alarms has been asked about for years. This isn't new hardware, just software.

Can I label alarms on the Ionic? If not, then I'm skipping it. Labelling alarms should be stupid easy, and yet you're ignoring the stupidly high demand for the feature.

If I wanted a decent smartwatch I'll stick with my Pebble Time. I can setup any of a hundred or so apps that do labeled alarms there. I can still wear my Alta at the same time, no biggie.

It's a shame, really. I would have bought the Ionic (or even the Blaze) in a heartbeat. The lack of labeled alarms is a deal-breaker if you want me to ditch my current smartwatch in favor of yours.

This is clearly a joke!
We are still awaiting software fixes and improvements promised years and

There should be a feature on the app that says "personalized reminders" where you can type a reminder (or multiple reminders) like "go eat an apple" and set it to go off at a certain time during the day.

Yes!!!  I am a student teacher and I have alarms set for 4 minutes before the end of the period on my Charge 2 and it is a HUGE help!!!  Because I am only limited to 8 alarms and I use 2 for when I need to get out of bed and when I need to leave for school I don't have enough for every period at school.  I would love for more alarms so that I could have one for every period!!!

yes, naming alarms can be useful.

I requested this feature two years ago when I got my Charge hr. The hr has died and I'm weighing a new Fitbit charge 2 against an Apple Watch and since there has been no response for two years... this is a major thread still without any changes to the software.

I love the silent alarms. It is hard to manage when you have multiple set to know what is what.

I would love to see you be able to name each alarm and when the alarm goes off it shows the alarm name on the device.

Customization for vibrations would be another plus
