Many countries favour using Kilojoules instead of calouries for enrgy input and output. Please add the option to choose in all relevent dashboard areas.
I just added this comment to Fitbit's reply to Nathan's facebook post: 'Fitbit your developers only need to compare the population of the US to the population of the rest of the world. It's unbelievable this is even an issue. Now you're saying we have to win a popularity contest to get the same consideration US users get? When we paid the same or more than them for your product? You are not positioning yourself as the leader in fitness wearable technology, you are looking archaic, & arrogant & contemptuous of your non-US purchasers.' The fitbit reps replying on facebook keep telling us to prove our numbers to the developers, but they should be passing on our upset to their marketing department.
Fitbit have massive market share for wearable devices - they're shipping millions of units a year. We are about 400 people.... motivated people, who surely represent a much larger silent constituency... nevertheless, we are a small percentage of their customers, and an even smaller number compared to the total world market for this stuff. And it looks like the US domestic market is their main target. So... It is clear they are not listening, and unless we can generate heat via much, much larger numbers it's likely to stay that way. For an otherwise good product, this is such poor CX and UX! Great example of both actually... think I will use this to illustrate the difference between the two... there! Something good has come from this otherwise rather futile waste of time!
Sorry if I'm bumping an old thread/discussion, but, I just purchased a Fitbit (Blaze) and I'm really surprised that it doesn't allow for kilojoules. I have a good mind to take it back for a refund. I never gave a second thought to checking if it did this as I simply thought it would be a standard feature (inclusion). I like all of the health tracking with the Blaze but the inability to change to kilojoules and the fairly poor food log area (barcode scanner refuses to work and many foods fail to be found when searching) are a real disappointment. I have MyFitnessPal (not the paid version) and although I don't currently use a tracker through their software, their food tracking is awesome (including the barcode scanner that actually works), and, blow me down, you can change the settings to allow for kilojoules!!!!!! How about that!!!
Come on Fitbit, get with the program (and catch up with everyone else in the world). It would be an absolute no brainer for you to add this in and as one other contributor said, it's only a matter of basic maths and minor software graphics to add such a feature.
I think there will be a lot of people who just got their Fitbit for Christmas searching for how to change from calories to kilojoules who will come across this discussion.
If your annoyed that kilojoules is not an option on Fitbit, leave your comments here, and please vote on the change.
Fitbit is such a great idea for giving simple feedback so why make it unnecessarily difficult by not having a Kilojoules option? As others have pointed out, every food package in Australia has information on it about Kilojoules per serving and almost never Calories.
Gutted! Never imagined the latest and greatest Charge 2 sold in NZ wouldn't have a kilojoules option to allow it to sync with MFP All our foods are only labelled in kilojoules. Now all I have is an expensive pedometer . Come on Fitbit don't sell in NZ if you can't use our measurements
Just bought a fitbit yesterday and have been trying to find out how to change calorie setting to kilojoule. Can't believe this isn't possible. If metric and imperial measurements can be accommodated, surely it must be possible to include kilojoules as well!
Was going to recommend fitbit to my dad, but since kilojoule tracking is something he does regularly, will suggest he looks elsewhere.
There are hundreds if not thousands of Fitbit users asking for kilojoules for over 4 years but still Fitbit prefers to totally ignores these customers.
They don’t care if we go somewhere else as they have already sold us their product. They are completely disloyal to their customer.
What to do? they follow the boof headed yanks so what do you expect. I would never recommend nor purchase any of their product again. In fact I would turn anyone away from Fitbit.
Very disappointed there is no kilojoule option on the Fitbit I was given for Christmas. Seemingly such a simple fix and it's not been done. Yes, I'll be telling everyone I speak to about Fitbit too that it is a con of the product.
Can it please be explained to me by Fitbit why the kilojoule option has not become available? Is it too hard for you? Do you think the demand is not there? Do you have a philosophical reason for not having a kilojoule setting as an option?
New to FitBit in Australia, just purchased a FitBit blaze and downloaded the App. Very frustrating that changing to kilojoules is not an option. Please make this change.
First disappointment! Are you serious? Where are the kilojoules? MyFitnessPal has had that for years. Look at all these comments. Are you not interested or able to attend to your customer needs. How do you expect to keep ahead of your competition if you can't meet such a basic request?
Really???... I simply cannot believe you are not able to choose between metric (Kilojoule) and imperial (Calories) for energy values....this has been an issue that was flagged about 2.5years ago...I recently got given a FitBit Charge 2 for XMAS by my daughters...and the only option is for calories where as other units of measure offer both metric and imperial....Come on Fitbit get with the program...really disappointed.
Also adding my voice to this request for using Kilojules. Absolutely crazy. The fitbit lets you switch distance units to metric by not energy. Why? Please make this an option. Most of the world now uses metric and if you are wanting to be a truely global product you should not force those outside the US to use calories.
Would be ideal to be able to use KJ instead of calories. Packaging in Aus is predominantly in Kj. I am using MyFitnessPal concurrently, which changes it for me, but it would be better for consistency to have to option as I flick between the two platforms.
probably more of a rain shower than a storm, but I'm not much of a tweeter. Usually only a last resort or to look for what's holding up traffic to and from the coast - passenger only of course. #donttweetanddrive 😉
